I can't wait for The Hits to be replaced with 4Music, hopefully it'll have much better programming than The Hits are currently offering.
4Music launches on 15th August. Is anyone else looking forward to the launch or would you rather have The Hits?

Never knew it would be replacing The Hits. I've seen the adverts for 4music though and it looks really good. I've totally gone off The Box, it's gone so downhill, I hardly watch it anymore so hopefully 4music will be great.

I think The Hits has gone downhill, but maybe that's because it's going to cease broadcasting soon to be replaced.
Does anyone know the song from the advert?
I can imagine it having a good first month and then dying a little bit, but i cant wait to be proven wrong :D
4music Launch Press Release:

NEW 4MUSIC CHANNEL LAUNCHES
Channel 4 and Bauer Media introduce 4Music with a premier line-up of exclusive new music shows including coverage of Kylie’s X Tour, unique performances from Coldplay, Sugababes and The Verve and extensive live V-Festival coverage
Channel 4 and Bauer Media announce the arrival of 4Music in what promises to be a major music TV event of 2008. 4Music is a reincarnation of Box Television’s The Hits, available across Sky, Virgin Media and Freeview, and signifies the rebirth of music TV. Viewers can tune in from V Festival weekend as 4Music launches. Channel 4 and Box TV have combined all the best music video content from The Hits with an exhilarating schedule of quality Channel 4 music shows to create something special.
4Music brings viewers closer to the music they love, with access to artists and bands in a way never experienced before. 4Music offers its viewers an unrivalled selection of music shows, including exclusive live events, original series, unmissable performances and a range of entertainment programmes. Not to forget an eclectic mix of exclusive, new and classic video content.
This all may sound a little overwhelming, but there will be plenty of familiar faces from the T4 and 4Music family to act as guides. Alexa Chung, Nick Grimshaw, Miquita Oliver, Lauren Laverne, Steve Jones and many others will be hosting shows across the channel.
4Music kicks off on 15 August with Davina McCall and Steve Jones’ favourite hits in Davina and Steve’s 20 Big Ones, and an exclusive Kylie concert from the O2 Arena in KylieX2008. The weekend continues with exclusive live coverage of the V Festival (16 and 17 August), with headline sets from The Verve and Muse. This will be followed by coverage of Bestival, featuring Amy Winehouse headlining a festival for the very first time. Orange RockCorps powered by Sony Ericsson and Channel 4 will also make its debut on 4Music, which is a unique music-led volunteering programme that climaxes with a concert of diverse acts, including Busta Rhymes, at The Royal Albert Hall.
In September, 4Music will once again be teaming up with Vodafone Live Music Awards for a night to remember to celebrate live music in a star-studded ceremony.
Series to appear on the 4Music channel will include the critically-acclaimed Live from Abbey Road, and 4Music Presents is lined up to host Coldplay, The Verve, James Morrison and Sugababes plus many more. 4Music will premiere popular programmes such as T-Mobile Transmission, the Shockwaves Album Chart Show and Ibiza Rocks with Sony Ericsson. 4Music will screen concerts from the world’s biggest bands and performers such as Kylie’s XY tour, Jay-Z in New York, N.E.R.D., McFly and The Streets. 4Music will also showcase the likes of Mark Ronson, Boyzone and Will Young in The Sunday Night Project, plus sideways looks at Take That, The Spice Girls and others in Star Stories.
4Music will also be bringing viewers the very best music videos and definitive countdowns, through the weekly Hit40UK update, and launch month all-star countdowns from the likes of Miquita Oliver, Mark Ronson, Dizzee Rascal, Alphabeat, McFly and the cast of Hollyoaks.
Neil McCallum, Head of Music, Channel 4, said: “The launch of 4Music really is something quite special. It confirms Channel 4 and Box TV’s ongoing commitment to music and providing the very best in music television. We’re particularly excited about making our diverse range of music entertainment shows and live events even more accessible to our viewers.”
David Young, Programming Director for Box Television, said: “We already have the number one music channel in the UK and now we’re going to take all the best bits of our music video content and combine them with an exciting schedule of quality programming to create a force to be reckoned with. 4Music will be the most exciting launch of this year.”
4Music will launch over the V Festival weekend and is available on channels Sky 360, Virgin 330 and Freeview 18.
No. Its going to be T4 meets E4 and I like The Hits, its the best music channel IMO.
I feel sorry for people who only have Freeview, they won't have a proper music channel now.
