Its a bit depressing seeing them all over the forum is all :sad:

Ive had a day from hell, and not made much better when finding 5 messages from people who have been so offended by the use of the word Golliwog

Believe it or not one of those chooses to use the word ****** in everyday speech without finding it a contradiction. So this on any day was enough to drive me nuts but.......... today its a definate no no...

Leaving, I dont know I'm tired fed up and misreble right now, and not just over this forum.
One things for sure I wont EVER let my friends down, so I guess I'll be going nowhere for now.

But on a forum you will have different view to people. I have backed you up on a couple and not on others. personally I think taking Lauren advice about putting people ignore is not a good idea. If you did that than you would only ever speak to people who have exactly the same views as you. That would make a very boring world.

Yes but you said it as a general point, as in my opinion in general you will take with a pinch of salt. I obviously expect people to disagree with me and that doesn't bother me, it happens more often than not - but someone who takes my opinion as a pinch of salt doesn't mean you simply disagree with me, to me it sounded like you didn't add much value to it.

And at a rough guess Id say the Golliwog thread would have taken even someone of average intelligence no more than 40 -50 words to realise it was no big and issue and was in fun, a personal story which could have been easily ignored.

I cant see how this offended anyone to be honest but the fact it supposedly offended 2 white people does really begger belief.

I cant believe a joke thread on golliwogs gets the back up on someone using the Nazi flag in a avatar, he claims its ironic humour............ now how ironic is that?

Girth claims to use the N word and wasnt really offended by Golliwog, he probably thought you know what its about time I just added some controversial cr*p to what was a fun post, why not just take it to a serious debate, rather than ruin what the majority were doing in that thread..........having fun.

I guess there lies the issue some really sad twits cant handle that and therefore bring others down.
I never thought I'd ever use the ignore option here, and I still dont want to, but I'm equally fed up with walking on egg shells for these spoilt people who just cant leave others alone, it was a flamin story about a doll for christs sake.

On a number of occasions you have said that all races can be racist. Not just white. I whole heartedly agree. But you seem to be saying that as I am white I can't have an opinion on race and if I do it is invalid. In that case the white people who agreed with you are making invalid points. Can only black people have a view on race?

If you were walking down the road and you saw someone racially abusing an Asian person are you saying you would not have an opinion? After all, you are black, not Asian.

Chewy. On my avi. It is something I made for an anti Nazi site I was involved with. Take an evil person who is a hero to some and take the piss out of him. look at cartoons from the time of WW2. They did exactly the same thing. Britain has a long and proud tradition of doing this. Angie is well aware of this and did not have a problem in the past when she found out what it was about. it is a shame she has changed her view to fit her argument.

You've thrown out an awful lot of insults aimed at me yet I've never insulted you in any thread. Do you not think the points I've made are not valid? So why put me on ignore?

I thought your reaction to Sticks valid point that a Gollywog could be considered racist was way over the top. I didn't enter the thread for any other reason that to make the point that just because you don't find something offensive it doesn't mean that it isn't. Instead of addressing that you'd rather throw out veiled insults directed at me.

I also resent the implication that I'm having fun discussing the issue of race an issue that is close to my heart. What kind of fun do you think I'm having?

I'm not going to apologise as I have nothing to apologise for. My points were valid and true. If you want to have a discussion about them then I'm up for that but if you simply want to ignore me and throw out insults then that's up to you.
