BIG BROTHER STATEMENT RE YESTERDAY'S TABLOID STUNT
Tuesday 6 July 2004
A tabloid newspaper flew a message over the house yesterday pointing out that Becki had nominated Michelle. While this news baffled housemates, it did not, contrary to reports in today's newspapers, lead to any arguments, confrontations or disagreements between the housemates. As with all stunts of this nature, streaming was temporarily diverted from the housemates. However viewers will be able to see for themselves how the housemates reacted in tonight's 10pm Channel 4 show.

I thought it looked funny this morning when Michelle and Becki were talking like nothing had happened. However, BB will only tell you what they want you to hear and as for the programme showing how true this is, well they edit the bits they don't want you to see.

When I got back yesterday I tuned into BB and Becki was talking to Nadia and she did mention that she was mad that it had happened before nominations but then the sound cut out.
I must admit I don't believe what the sun says most of the time though
There was an article in The Mirror, and several other papers as well, but the one that actually organised the plane and the banner was The Sun.

This was grossly irrisponsible of the Sun, I would like to see if C4/Endemol have some legal remedy here.
The way it was reported it could have caused a serious flare up, were it not for Daniel.
Anyone seeing the footage on E4 nominations uncut will see that Becki was put in a virtually impossible situation, which was resolved by draggin Ahmed into a 50/50 selection of either Michelle or Shell.

Well if I was Becki I would of refused to kiss anyone. Becki would of got alot more respect from the public.

Yes she has, She decided to pick michelle and then she made up a weak excuse for kissing her

No way!! If she had choose not to kiss anyone, then she would be seen as an awkward pratt, just like Kitten. She was only just in the house, and if her first action was to refuse to follow BB's instructions, it would not have gone down well. Cos she was the new housemate, and people generally don't want one of them to win, people are looking for any reason to dislike her.
The main reason she is hated now, is cos she chose Michelle. If she had nominated Jay or Vic, then there would have been very little complaints and she would be seen as a national hero!!
(BTW, I am not a fan of Becki. Hate her for the right reasons, not for nominating Michelle.)

(BTW, I am not a fan of Becki. Hate her for the right reasons, not for nominating Michelle.) I agree with you here Slarti (apart from the fact I quite like Becki). It's very easy too judge her and say what you all would have done in her position but as a new person in the house she was just finding her was and I know I would have found it difficult to have made the decision not to nominate. It's all very well saying that the public would respect her and not vote her out, but how could she have known that and the last thing she would want to do is be voted out almost the first second she entered the house. I don't envy her the decision and opting out was nowhere near as easy and clear cut as you lot seem to think.

I disagree with you on loads of things about BB5 this year LEE . That's a turnip for the books!
I think Becki DID have an easy choice. I can't think of any other situation in previous series of BB where a housemate has been allowed to choose themselves in an awkward situation. And yet Becki had that chance.
OK, so she'd only just gone into the house, but her choice suggests to me that her motivation is definitely to win or get as far as she can. If she was there to have a laugh, she wouldn't have minded being up for eviction.
But to nominate someone else, knowing that they would be automatically up for eviction, is the more difficult choice.

Are you suggesting she put herself up to the public vote on her first week in the house?? Why? She had no loyalty to these people, and why should she disobey BB's instructions and disadvantage herself?
Of course her motive is to stay in for as long as possible, although i don't believe even she thinks she has a chance of winning. But she could have ensured herself a much better chance of staying in by picking Vic or Jay, or even Ahmed, especially as she had seen the footage and had an idea of what the public thought of them.
She must have known that there was a high likelihood that the housemates would nominate her eventually, so instead of creepily trying to make friends with them, she should have engraciated herself to the publc as much as possible. She was given the perfect opportunity to do this by BB, and she wasted it.
Although she wasn't given much time, she could have done so much more with the power that BB gave her. By picking Michelle, she has doomed herself to an early exit

Well, I thought long and hard about that - but one has to know where to draw the line in these matters.
:xyxwave:
The Sun still seem determind to keep going with the story :nono:
BIG Brother’s Michelle got her revenge on Judas Becki last night — by nominating her in return for eviction.
Michelle, her lover Stuart, Shell and Dan all named Becki after The Sun revealed her secret by flying a plane over the house with a banner saying Only Becki Nominated Michelle!
But the bisexual singer LIED to the housemates twice when they challenged her about our message and claimed The Sun was scheming to get her out.
Becki now faces the public vote for eviction on Friday with former asylum seeker Ahmed.
When she learned she was up for eviction she smiled grimly and said: “I was expecting it. At least I know who it was.”
But delighted Ahmed — who is desperate to leave — said: “Get me out of the sinking ship.”
And he and Becki started singing 1969 Steam classic Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye).
Becki is the 1/4 favourite to go on Friday, while bookies Ladbrokes put Ahmed — who got three votes — on 11/4.
Michelle, who had stayed silent when they were told the news last night, later said she nominated Becki because she is an outsider.
In the Diary Room she said: “She isn’t part of this group.”
Dan told Big Brother he nominated Becki because he doesn’t trust her.
Becki nominated best pal Ahmed because he left “pee stains” in the bathroom.
She has constantly flirted with the Somali and even let him spank her bottom. But she said in the Diary Room: “I went after him in the loo and there were lots of pee stains.
“I thought ‘that’s unclean and inconsiderate’.”
Jason and Victor were banned from nominating as a punishment for discussing tactics.
Stuart is still the only housemate to have received no nominations after four rounds.
The housemates didn’t know Becki was allowed to nominate one of them last week by kissing them on both cheeks — and chose Michelle.
Our banner on Monday afternoon sparked a huge debate — and Jason was shocked as he stared through a window at it. Victor said: “The Sun. What the hell was that about?”
The housemates were hurriedly ordered into the bedroom by Big Brother while Michelle was in the Diary Room.
Stuart asked Becki: “You didn’t get to vote last week?” Becki lied by shaking her head.
Shell said: “Becki is saying they’re fibbing. She hasn’t got to nominate yet.”
Becki, lying again, then said: “I don’t know who I’ll nominate.”
When Michelle strolled out of the Diary Room, Dan told her about our message.
Kind Michelle added: “I don’t care. I’m going to give Becki a cuddle and tell her I don’t care.”
Later the girls gave the guys a thrill with their raunchy version of a Moulin Rouge-style show.
Shell, Michelle, Vicki — and Nadia — spent more than an hour changing into revealing, skin tight outfits, complete with G-strings, stockings and feathers.
The housemates moved into the living room and as the performance started the lads couldn’t stop laughing.
Victor then beamed in delight as he was surrounded by the cavorting beauties while he sat in a chair.
