Eurovision: Time to pull out?

With Terry Wogan officially leaving Eurovision, is it time for the UK to finally drop out? Or should we just get a new host?

If so, who would make a good commentator?

The UK should drop out of Eurovision, it is all down to politics now so it is obvious that the likes of Russia are going to win because they're more powerful. The UK is never going to win Eurovision again and the acts are always really rubbish.

I think we should give it a year or 2 without Terry and see if it makes any difference, it probably won't, but if it does they should stay, if it doesn't, pull out.

Yep, UK should not bother in this european scam any longer, if we sent Leona Lewis she'd still end up in last place whilst Zoltan and his yodelling poodle from Uzbekistan would win by 150 points, the compettion is just ridiculously "bent" in favour of the eastern bloc vote, even in this climate georgia and Russia would still consider voting for each other, than a song from the UK, it stinks:puzzled:

It would be interesting if the UK split into smaller countries like England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.. but I don't think the BBC want that.

if the UK realy want to win the Eurovision then they should just send Duffy or Leona Lewis.both artists are from the UK and both are HUGE in Europe.if they use a good song and release it all across Europe a month or two before the Eurovision they will definetly win.but thats probably against the rules....

im 99% sure if Duffy or Leona lewis release a single all over Europe a month before the erovision and then sing that song at the Eurovision the UK will win(well definetly 100% top 3 anyway).

There is a rule which forbids any song being entered which has been previously commercially released or broadcast in public before a certain date relative to the Contest in question. The purpose of this rule is to ensure that only new songs are entered into the Contest, and not existing successful songs of years gone by, which might give a country an unfair advantage due to the fact that the song is already known and popular.

So I doubt they'd be allowed anyway :sad:

It's wayy to political now!

The BBC put's the most funding into the Eurovision, thats why every year were automatically put into the final. I think we should try this year, and presenters should say "Remember, you're voting for which song you like the best, no matter where you're living"

Just something to try and persuade people the show isn't about politics.

But the point made was to establish a song across europe then enter it in the Eurovision. I was just saying that they can't do that.

Who cares if we win or not!? Sure it would be nice but we still get to listen to the hilariously fun, cheesy and (imo) great music, irrelevant of what place we come.

To stop block voting, I think all the satellite countries should just be classed as Russia. That would automaticly block of 16 countries roughly. If the UK has to enter as 1, why shouldn't Russia?
