CHRISTINA Aguilera plans to tone down her famous vocal gymnastics and go Goth with help from synth poppers Ladytron.

The cult Liverpool quartet are one of the big-voiced diva’s favourite bands, so she has hired them to help her find a new darker direction.

Ladytron founder Daniel Hunt told me: “We first heard that we were one of Christina’s favourite bands last summer. We were chuffed.

“So we went over to LA to meet her in December where she identified the type of Ladytron songs that she liked. We were impressed because she had a real deep knowledge of our music – album tracks, not just the singles.”

Seems like Christina, 28, is tired of bombarding our lugholes with her legendary three-octave vocal runs. She’s aiming for strong pop melodies instead.

Danny, 29, explained: “She’s an absolutely amazing singer but one of the things she talked about was working with a softer vocal sound, so I think the stuff we do will feature simpler melodies.”

The end result is expected to mirror their own dark and moody brand of electronica but Ladytron don’t mind the Agmeister stealing their underground sound.

The Ladytron keyboardist – whose new single To*morrow is released on March 2 – added: “It’s logical for her to go out and work with the actual band she likes, rather than simply try and copy the sound with someone else.

“We’re gonna finish off some more tunes with her in March.”

And don’t rule out a live collaboration either.

Danny said: “We haven’t discussed performing together but I’d love for us to do something – maybe be her backing band for a show or two.”

Ladytron, who hit Europe’s stadia with Depeche Mode this summer, expect the new tunes will materialise later this year.

Ladytron are amazing, I can't wait to hear their influence on Christina's album.

I have a feeling she won't abandon them completely, she always has at least one big belter on her albums. I expect something like 'You Are What You Are (Beautiful)' but with bigger vocals.

Just thought I'd let you know that two Christina Grammy memorabilia were amonst the many Grammy related items that were auctioned at a charity event recently. They were a gramophone and a post card of Christina's performance of "It;s A Man's World" at the 07 Grammy's, both signed by Christina.

Apparently, there's a rumour going around on some site called Live Daily that someone who's worked with her on her new album has said that she's recorded loads of songs and the working title for the album is 'Into The Light'.

Hopefully that changes, I thought she'd pick something more.. cooler sounding?

Looks like that Ladyhawke might not be happening:

Ladyhawke has admitted that she is "intrigued" by Christina Aguilera's decision to cover one of her songs.

Last month Liverpool electro group Ladytron revealed that they had recorded a version of Ladyhawke's hit 'My Delirium' with the US pop singer.

However, Ladyhawke - real name Pip Brown - said that Aguilera has yet to contact her about the song.

"I know nothing about it. [But] I'd be really intrigued to see how she'd tackle the song," she told DS. "I mean, what angle would she take it from? Her vocal range is insanely good and I'm just a lazy singer! I mean, I've kinda got this rock thing going on, whereas she's definitely got this soul sister vibe.

"My immediate thought was 'Why would she want to cover it?' It's not like anything she's ever done before."

Ladyhawke also admitted that she wants to help Aguilera with her version of the song, saying: "Can I be involved somehow? Can I oversee how the music gets recorded? It would be pretty cool to work with her."

The songs aren't set in stone to appear on Xtina's new album but are currently being considered for possible inclusion.

Hmm very interesting. It's already been officially confirmed that Christina has been working with Sia so it looks like the tracks they've cooked up together may make the album, as well as the obvious Linda Perry contributions that we're bound to see. The only thing I'm a little sceptical about is the ode to baby Max that Christina has co-written with her husband Jordan. The last thing X-tina's new album needs is more of those OTT self-indulgent ballads that flooded Back To Basics.

It should also be noted that the picture I used at the top of the post is a new promo photo, so maybe Christina has dropped that trashy Lady GaGa impersonation she's been rocking and moved onto something else? Anyways I'm an Aguilera fan so I'm definitely excited to see what she does for her fourth album, and although I'd prefer her to go for a more urban sound I'm still willing to give this alternative pop-dance thing she's going for a chance.

- The album is almost done. Christina is to do some final adjustments and recordings to clean some tracks, but pretty much it is all done
- She thinks the album (or single) will be released in June/July, but that isn't final
- Christina will start doing some random small appearances, like Perez Hilton's bday party, to get into the spotlight again slowly until the promo starts
- Christina worked with AT LEAST 6 different producers for the album
- There are concepts about the theme of the pictures/promo, but none of the pics were taken yet
- They still don't know which tracks will make the album
- The vocal style for some of the Sia tracks reminds of Breathe Me and Moon, but not all of the tracks have the futuristic effects on them. Some have big vocals.
- Visually, the album and looks will have some of the GH style. It seems that once she was playing with a wig and Max run away from her and hid behind Jordan, so she shouldn't change her look for now otherwise her son doesn't recognize her lmao.

Now she's done it there's no way she could produce it again. She's married with a child, she's in too good a place to create an album like that again.

ugh I think B2B is under-rated. Yes it certainly suffered from a lack of variety and had about 4 to many huge ballads, but when it was good it was amazing. It was incredible for her to take the risk of doing an album like it.

I think she'll always be separate from GaGa as even if she does go the electro route for the whole album it'll either be sort of retro, 70's or very futuristic, Kanye sounding. She has actually stated Andy Warhol and Kanye as two of her inspirations for the album.

&Back To Basics is my favourite Xtina album. Admittedly, I found the first disc a bit repetitive. I LOVE Jazz and Blues music, it's one of my favourite genre but most of it was a bit samey/vocally overwhelming.
The second disc is a masterpiece though, not one track I hate. My faves are Nasty Naughty Boy, The Right Man, Mercy On Me, and Hurt.
Nasty Naughty Boy is one of my fave songs of hers EVER, and B2B is hugely underrated IMO. It was too.. different methinks. No-one would expect her to release a jazz album and because it's not really a HUGE genre unless you specialize in it, it didn't benefit ChrissyA.

Anywhoo after listening to Fighter with Dave and it's kind of something I've been thinking about for awhile )I've heard other fans say it too). I would really love her to do a rock-ier album. Not completely rock sort of like P!nk meets Evanesence. Her voice is so powerful it could definitely handle the music and tracks like Fighter, Walk Away even Soar that have that little rocky edge - they just give me shivers. I think it's not impossible too. I mean she loves to totally change direction each album and she has expressed admiration for some rock acts (Jane's Addiction, to name one).

I'd LOVE her to do an Evanescence style album, it'd be amazing. I agree, Fighter, Walk Away, Make Over? would be fantastic! Xtina gone goth? LOL

&I've compiled all her bsides/bonustracks/soundtracks into one album that I titled 'A Song For You' and all her duets into an album I called 'With Xtina: The Duets'. I made covers too so I could upload them (probably not till monday though)

yeah I kind of meant sort of stability wise. There was a patch there when it looked like Britney's career might be over. Where as at least when Christina is doing anything musically we know she's either just working on new stuff or having family time.

&Christina HAS nothing to worry about. Seriously, like.. she never was 'gone'. Back To Basics was a number #1 selling album with 3 pretty successful and popular singles from it (it's actually my fave album of hers). It's not a bad patch in her career so she doesn't really need to 'comeback' with anything? The only way I'd explain the lower charting positions for her last few singles is that she's not really been in the public eye recently, as opposed to other artists.

This album is to me, what Circus was to Britney fans.

Hmm. Still though, even if it was a ballad surely it would be in the sort of heavily editted, electronic, synthesised sounds like his previous work which would not only be awful for Leona as she is a more back to basics, R'n'B type singer, but would fit perfectly into Christina's new direction.

Having said that, I'm not sure if Christina would even except the song, she likes to have a pretty strong influence in her songs, most of them she co-writes.

Ironic that it's torn between someone I love and someone I hate.
If it's anything like 'Bad Girl', or 'Sexyback', I want Christina to have it though. Could do her some good to have Danja working with her.

Then again, if he wrote it, Christina will probably change it a bit like she did to 'Hurt' when Linda Perry wrote it FOR her.

X Factor star Rhydian Roberts has revealed that he is hoping to arrange a duet with Christina Aguilera.

The 26-year-old singer admitted that he is keen to mix his operatic style with that of a pop or R&B star in the future.

"I love to collaborate on stage with people and I'd love to eventually work with a diva like Christina Aguilera," Roberts told Now Online. "I just think her voice is incredible."

Roberts collaborated with Idina Menzel on his self-titled debut album last year. He also duetted with Katherine Jenkins on the 2007 X Factor final.

He added: "Katherine and I have done a few gigs since then. I've met and sung with quite a few Welsh singers already."

This would be cool.Obviously it would be on Rhydians album though :p

Just found out that Tricky Stewart (the Umbrella producer) also did Mariah's Touch My Body and Britney's Me Against The Music. I really liked the sound of those songs, has made me more optimistic now about him working with her now.

There are reports out there that Christina Aguilera is interested in starring in "Burlesque," a film about a modern-day striptease dancer, sources tell E! Online.

Although the site doesn't have further information about how far along Aguilera is in the process of securing the role, there is word that "Dancing With the Stars" favorite Julianne Hough has also met with producers about co-starring as a pregnant showgirl.

Steve Antin, whose sister is Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin, wrote the script and is reportedly going to direct the film as well. Screen Gems, the studio behind the project, has confirmed that the movie in development, but added that it's "too preliminary to comment on." The studio is aiming for a January 2010 production start date.

A rep for Aguilera had no comment about the casting news when reached by MTV News.

Playing a burlesque dancer on film wouldn't be too difficult for Aguilera, who got saucy covering Labelle's "Lady Marmalade" for the "Moulin Rogue" soundtrack. She followed that up with her stint as "Dirrty" Christina on her 2002 album, Stripped, posing topless for the cover. Then, in 2006, she embraced her inner pin-up for Back to Basics. This would be the first major film role for the singer.

While she's kept quiet on the possibility of making her mark on the big screen, Aguilera has talked a bit about the follow-up to her recent best-of release, Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits. She told MTV News that said she wants the new album to have a more "futuristic" vibe: "It's a challenge and an exciting new project for me to reinvent what I am doing yet again, and come up with something new and fresh."

Last night DJ Eclipse was holding a party at LiveFromHQ because we all know DJ Premier is staying at Christina Aguilera's home with his crew to work on her upcoming album. But you know Preem, he always gives a call to check in! Christina asked him to do two track for the album but they recorded already up to four tracks haha, she said he has to do whatever he feels like doing. Four tracks?! 2009!! And I've seen I already got linked to Aguilera's fan pages, so I got some news for them too. The new album is suppose to release in september. Paparazzi and million Christina fans: get ready. She was suppose to get on the phone but she was going to eat or something.

Christina Aguilera has revealed that her upcoming album will have a "futuristic" feeling.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the 'Keeps Gettin' Better' star hinted that fans could expect her fourth studio offering to sound significantly different to 2006's Back To Basics.

"My last album had a vintage, retro, glam appeal and this next album which I am almost finished and am about to release has a very modern sense about it," she explained.

"[It will be] futuristic in terms of looking into the future and giving it a new twist and a new sensibility. I am working with a lot of electro artists to make that come alive. That is what really inspires me at the moment."

Earlier this year, it was announced that the singer had been collaborating with Liverpool-based electro group Ladytron on the LP.

Okay, so we have some more new information on Christina Aguilera's upcoming album!

Supposedly, according to HMV, the album will be titled:

Light & Darkness

Also, in this new article Ladytron talks about working with Christina Aguilera. Her album will have several collaborations with the group. She's influenced by "high fashion" and "Andy Warhol." Christina Aguilera isn't done working on her album yet, she still has two more months before finishing it up. That means that it will most likely have a Fall release date, and she may debut her single at the VMAs. She has done this with the past two albums, so maybe she will with this one, too.

The group's next unexpected first will occur later this year when pop superstar Christina Aguilera releases her next album, to include a series of collaborations with Ladytron. so this way she'll have more time to perfect it and there will be less competition.

Apparently the 'light' side of the album is the Electro/Futuristic sounding stuff, whilst the 'dark' side is a lot more soulful/ballad-heavy.

Interesting, I doubt it'll be 2 discs again, but then again, I can't see how she can portray the dark/light theme any othr way.

Nah, Ciara's 'Fantasy Ride' has 3 discs and they've all got a different theme, and have like.. 5-7 songs on each.
Idk whether it'll happen or not, it'd be good to see the complete divide though.

Christina Aguilera just became one of the first artists signed to a new Clear Channel radio network.

Thanks to the recently inked deal Aguilera, known widely for singles like "Hurt" and "The Voice Within," will have her own show on Clear Channel's new A.P.E. network.

Short for Artist Personal Experience, APE, is a standalone company that will allow Aguilera to produce her own online radio show featuring commentary, music and interviews.

The network, also featuring Weezer and the Eagles, is expected to launch in July with assistance from local Clear Channel stations.

"We want artists to host the channels, tell stories and turn new fans on to new music," Evan Harrison, president of Clear Channel's digital division and CEO of a.p.e. radio told Billboard.

Aguilera's radio show comes just in time for her highly anticipated follow up to 2006s "Back To Basics". Expected to feature a new sound and much experimentation, Aguilera says "I'm experimenting with my voice in ways I've never done before, almost like a technical, computer-generated sound, which is different for me because I'm the type of vocalist that just belts"

The as-yet-untitled album is slated for release fall 2009.

The song's already online.
It's a good cover but a bit too drab+generic for me.
The All-American Rejects cover is better.

I\m very optimistic about it now. Mind Control is said to be hot so as long as she has a good lead single I think she'll blend back on the scene again very well. I am so pumped for this album, I think it could be my favourite yet.

I think Circus was always going to be a gamble though, because of her personal problems and clear lack of creative control over thing. I'm just hoping that Circus was just a record she needed to do to get on top of herself again and the albums to come will go back to her doing what she wants with her music, a la the Blackout/In The Zone eras.

To be fair, Blackout set the bar REALLY high whereas although 'Back To Basics' is MY favourite, this is a different style so it's hard to compare :\

LOL, I personally loved Keeps Gettin' Better, not even as a fan, I really liked the song. though I can see it's faults.

I think the new material will be a bit more sleek though, not as melody crazy as KGB. More tidied up and better produced, sort of like how Falling In Love Again sounded, but obviously shorter and faster :P

Cher and Christina Aguilera have signed up to star in contemporary musical Burlesque, reports Variety.

It will be Aguilera's first movie acting role, while it is Cher's first big screen outing since 2003 Farrelly brothers comedy Stuck On You.

Aguilera will play a small-town girl from Iowa who "comes of age" when she gains employment in a neo-burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard. The venue is run by Tess (Cher), an ex-dancer who is struggling to keep the club running. Cher and Aguilera will both sing on screen.

Steve Antin is directing the Screen Gems project, which he he scripted alongside Susannah Grant. Shooting begins in November.

Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper admitted that he had been "lobbying" Cher for some time to appear in the musical.

"She brings a soulfulness and gravitas to this character that will ground the story," he said. "The only person who was more excited than I am is Christina."

But that'd be a huge promo mistake because no-one tends to buy albums in January due to spending so much at Xmas.

YET another producer has been added to the list. well two actually, Diplo [has done remixes for various artists, most recently, Britney's Circus] and Switch [who has remixed for artists like Kelis, Lily Allen, Basement Jaxx and Bjork].

But together they form as Major Lazer and have produced tracks on Santogold and M.I.A's albums.

Switch has also worked with Tricky who is also producing on the album.

He also told one fan via twitter that the album would be out roughly, around Thanksgiving, so November. WHIIIIIICCCH would tie in perfectly with X Factor.
