Is it replacing The Hits? Or will there be a new channel if so what number is it?

Nope. The hits have been bought over and are gone for good, but the remaining Bouer Group franchise is still left, aka Smash Hits, the Box, Kerrang, Q ect.

Yes.
4Music replaces The Hits on all platforms.
It is worth noting that Box Television will retain it's 50% stake in the channel.

4Music is The Hits, The Hits has gone :sad:
However TMF have gone back down the music videos route with them on practically all of today and for the next few days with the odd hour of MTV programmes here and there so its not that bad for Freeview-only people.
Bauer still have a stake in the channel and Channel 4 still have a stake in The Box, Kiss etc but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see both companies to make a deal on Channel 4 taking complete control of 4Music and Bauer taking complete control over the rest of the channels.

So good in fact I got to meet Kelly Clarkson due to it :joker:

I have to admit I wasn't looking farward to 4music taking over, but the previews today look really promising :)

I know! If I have to see "The Best No.3's of the 90's" one more time I'll go crazy! The hits was crap, it was just a cheap copy of The Box.
4Music looks really nice. :) I lovvve the music channels.

4MUsice looks GREAT! All the previews are intruiging and it was a good idea for them to put the musical FNPs on it!

They should've got rid of Smash Hits on Sky and The Hits, I hate that channel [Smash Hits]

I think since the hit's was Bouers biggest music franchise, they should have kept it as it brought in the most money, gave the Kiss or Kerrang slot to 4Music (Two less popular channels) and used some of that money to update Smash hit's programming and look.

4Music launches at 7pm tonight, and it will replace The Hits.

The Hits closed hours ago, there have been 4Music previews on there all day. 4Music has replaced The Hits, although it is still owned by the same people (Bauer Group and Channel 4).

Can someone help me though?
Right after the interview tonight on C4, on 4music it says Big Brother Live which starts at 11:10. Why is there BB live on 4 music? But on the info bit it says:
Watch the HM in a music task.
Or something like that.
