Do you think a platonic friendship being a guy and a girl can happen, without one or both of them falling for eachother or having any feelings of that nature...?

Do you think a friends ONLY relationship can work?

Discuss if you wish...

Very easily.

I have been best friends with a girl for around 7 or 8 years and we haven't had feelings for each other, so I believe they exist, but we are both kinda unusual, so I don't know if they're common or not. :cheer:

I have many girl friends that I consider just a friend and I think they consider me just a friend.

...if one of the two is gay then it can definitely happen.

I think it can, the thought of sleeping with some female friends I have is actually quite wrong, not because they're bad looking which they aren't (far from it) but because I've known them for so long

Yes....but I read some silly survey that you are friends with people who you are sexually attracted to, male and/or female.
Which I believe to an extent.

If we were apes, you would prefer to plant your seed in someone you like, than someone who could be some evil little merk for all you know.

I agree with you... :)
But there has been some cases with a couple of my older guy friends where I have completely destroyed the friendship by telling him I liked him.. we went out with eachother for about a month, now were're not friends anymore... I have just always wanted to know were their not times where people think... "What if...?" Just interested me.. :D

But you can never be sure about how she feels for you.

I don't think it's possible to have a REALLY close friendship. Obviously you could have lots of passing friends of the opposite sex, but if you feel a connection deep enough to share secrets and what not, you might as well be in a relationship.

I get on far better with the opposite sex, but thats meh.
Most boys I know are shallow, 2D, never have fun and pretty dull.

At the same time, I don't feel I can really have an informed opinion on this subject because I'm gay which usually results in guys immediately disliking me. So I've never had a guy friend.

Absolutely. I hang around in a mixed group of boys and girls, and Im friends with the girls, just normally.

I also am friends with a few others, and its not turned into anything. It has in the past with other people, but not atm.

I think its really easy to. If you have some self control.

Of course. I have plenty of female friends who I never have and never will fancy... Like ever. It's a weird thought.
But I have plenty of male friends who I never have and never will fancy too, so that's good.

With some people it can i suppose.

But uh every girl that has become like best friend... ive ended up inviting them round and when its just you and that "friend" for me it ends up going further than just friendship,

So yeh i think so but never for me...

Of course, I have boy friends that are like brothers to me. It would feel like incest if anything happened.

My 'best friend' is a girl & we've been friends for like five years without ever having any sort of feelings for each other. We're so close in that it the thought of seeing her in that way is close to liking my sister, so it's definately possible...
