That's what Mikey claimed in that argument and I can't help remembering him boasting about how he throws away his mobile 'phones whenever the batteries run out. He said he buys about five a month! He also said he regularly pays about £100 for a bottle of booze when he eats out.
Great use of his cash. I'm sure all this is a great consolation for all the starving children of the World!

I just don't see it...surely the fact that he so readily spends money and disposes of phones indicates the opposite? He may boast a fair bit but it's not like he simply values these things about human feelings and so on, and to say someone is "too materialistic" is a bizarre opinion in itself.

What strange things to say! I'm guessing you're from a privileged background.

Rex has a lot going for him ... he is funny, and brave ... but he does represent everything that is dreadful about the modern world, to my mind. He really splits my vote ... part of me really likes him ... but I think the bottom line is, he has to go soon. He has been really nasty to lots of people, and he does think possessions are important (including his awful girlfriend, who he treated like a Rolex watch).

I agree with most of the stuff mikey says to rex
but this i dont if you do have the money why not be materialistic.
I like to have the best like a 60 pound t shirt over 10 6 pound t shirts...
though throwing the mobiles hes talking crap i think.

Well I consider myself priveleged in terms of my family and friends and so on in life, but in terms of wealth not really xD

“…surely the fact that he so readily spends money and disposes of phones indicates the opposite?”
Sure. Someone who spends copious amounts on materialistic goods should never be called materialistic!
“…to say someone is ‘too materialistic’ is a bizarre opinion in itself.”
That’s a new one on me, lol. Glad to see you backed that up with a reason!

Well precisely, I don't think he's more concerned with what he owns than with spiritual, intellectual or cultural values

no, Angela 1234 ... I respect your view, but I think you have overlooked the point that Rex's lifestyle makes other people live in muck, cos he doesn't choose to redistribute his parent-given money ...
Rex is pure nasty mean selfish nastiness.
That's my view, sorry.

...And 1% of the World's population owns 80% of its wealth!
Have you seen Michael Moore's 'Sicko' yet, Ruination? 10 000 Americans die every year because they can't afford medical treatment. Still, so long as Rex is happy!
By the way, you never need to apologise for your opinions.

30-stone ... I think you've answered my point.
Rex is disgusting. Society is diivided. And it all ends up with a song!
That's what you meant right?
Seriously, the disparity between rich and poor in this country makes me feel ill.
I'm not saying it's all Rex's fault, but it is all the fault of people like him.
We could all be happy in here, till the dirty bomb.
(I speak as a relatively ok person)
Just asking.

"We could all be happy in here, till the dirty bomb."
I've agreed with you so far, Ruination, but please tell me that last line was just a joke.
