How can they improve the show in these aspects for next year? Longer or shorter? More housemates or less?

I think 16 housemates at the start worked really well, it gave us a great range of people. As for length, I like having 13 weeks.

No of housemates: 15
Length: 75 days

15 housemates, 3 latecomers, 11 weeks

I think BB9 proved that 13 weeks can remain entertaining, so I'm happy with that...

I think 16 housemates on launch night, with 1 extra housemate going in the next week with some sort of secret mission. That leaves 5 in the final week, if any walk/removed, replace them.

Shorter!
Like maybe maximum of 70 days?
and I'd say 16 housemates

15 housemates & 2 surprise housemates (latecomers), on for about 80 days.

LemonJam

The same I'd say. Just more entertaining housemates.

I would like about 11 weeks next year
The last few series all get boring around about week 8/9 so if the series would shorten it wouldn't be that boring.
I think 11 weeks with 16 housemates plus replacements.

Brekkie
06-09-2008, 05:54 PM
I would only shorten it slightly to 90 days, so it launches on the Sunday rather than Thursday.

They'd be no first week eviction so the first eviction would be on Day 13, with 11 evictions and then the final (with 5 in the last week).

That requires 16 HMs, ideally starting with 13, with 3 moving in later. A maximum of 18 HMs would be about right.

Ideally:
10 weeks
18 housemates, all entering on launch

Unfortunately, I've heard rumors about BB10 and apparently that's not the plan. :sad:

5 for final week + 1 mid-eviction.

I Like it as 13 weeks its good like that no shorter otherwise theres nothing else better on tv, Maybe 2 houses (but the housemates think theres only 1) and put 10 into each house, then have a double eviction on day 10 (One housemate from each house) then open both of the houses (so make it like theres a wall thats removable inbetween each house so really its just one big house but just with a wall that gets removed) The 2 evicted housemates get to go back into the house but in the 'loft' of the house which they can live in and the housemates have to chose who they want back.

£110k? Bit of an odd number.

Plus 20 housemates from the start is way too many.

I'd knock a few days off so it runs for 90 days, launching on a Sunday, with the first eviction on Day 13.

There are then 11 eviction nights before the last week, which would have 5 housemates at most, preferbly 4. Therefore around 16-18 housemates in total over the series.

Tom
15-09-2008, 12:27 AM
BB9 had just the right amount I think (counting Stuart/Dennis* as one and Maysoon/Nicole as one), so thats 19.

*I know Stuart was said to have replaced Alex but really Alex would have been evicted that week and with no eviction that would have levelled itself out, but in went Stuart and Dennis was never replaced.

There are as many women as men?

Plus we've had lesbians before. They shouldn't go out looking for stereotypes.

For me 16 weeks is way too long. You may not realise it because the finale and best bits make you forget it. But theres always a lull week or two during 13 week series, 16 would be a snooze fest by the final week.

Casual viewers would loose interest by the 10th eviction.

What I want....

10 weeks, 12 housemates, no week 1 eviction.

what we'll get

* 15 week series
* 18 housemates on launch night
* 3 new housemates in week 3
* 5 new housemates in a House-Next-Door
* 2 replacement housemates for those who walk out
* 1 celebrity contestant
* one late-comer who is a relative of a housemate
* Just another one thrown in for good measure!

Therefore, 30 contestants for 15 weeks, one eviction a week

leaving 16 in the final week.

I wouldn't put it past them!

Sounds about right :bigsmile:

What I want is 12 weeks and 12 hms on launch, 3 latecomers that come in around the same time as they came in this year. No Week 1 eviction so about 4 or 5 in the final week.

^^ Agreed. 11 weeks, 15-16 quality housemates (like BB5, with everyone being a big character). No more than 1 or 2 latecomers unless somebody walks or is kicked out.

2 separate houses (House2 smaller than the other) - each thinking they're the only house.

Day 1. 16 Housemates enter on the launch night. 8 in one, 8 in the other.
Day 3. House2 must nominate infront of each other for an instant eviction. Housemate chosen goes into House1 but must not tell H1 about H2.
Day 6. H1 think they're all facing eviction but instead the public have been voting for which hm from H2 they want to go in H1. The hm chosen must not tell H1 about H2.
Day 7. The two hms that were originally in H2 must decide which remaining hm from H2 to evict.
Day 8. H2 are told about H1 and are instructed to pack up their belongings and move to H1.
Now that the 2 houses have become one, it returns to one eviction every week like normal. Although I'd like to see the first triple eviction this series (maybe two evicted through the public votes as a double eviction, and then Davina surprises the house and tells them they must nominate one more person to leave the house?)

Then in week 3 they could add 4 new housemates to the house and make it 17hms (20 hms that series).

What do you think?

I like this, and make them nominate in front of each other.

This idea is good, however, its quite similar to BBUS (but the public have no involvement). It ends up being that the bigger clique slowly get rid of the smaller clique, and they become quite predictable (like how it was obvious that Sara and Lisa were going to be nominated when they had to vote infront of each other because the rest were in their own little group).

Plus, if they nominate infront of each other they end up feeling intimidated and voting for people their friends are voting for rather than who they really want (look at Rachel when they had to nominate infront of each other. She ended up looking at everyone elses and basing her decision on theirs).

Let's face it, Sara and Lisa were going to be up either way, and Rachel didn't base her decision on other people's nominations, she was one of the B-Block people who didn't vote Sara and Lisa.

13 weeks is good i agree, perfect length if you start with 16 or so HMs....add in 2 more throughout the 13 weeks and you have your 18 (when you get to 20-22 HMs that is too much). Maybe 1 double eviction, no more. Then a finale of 4 or 5 people. Would be perfect IMO
