I put grandtheftauto but the best video game ever can be any game unless you put it down to sales and worldwide cred... Could be computer space that came out in 1971.
Or maybe its pong in 1972, also magnavox released the odyssey in that year.
Space Invaders that came out in 1978 by midway, also that year magnavox releases the odyssey2. But in 1980 atari releases Space Invaders for the Video Computer System that came out in 1977 and is also known as the 2600.

GTA. It has redefined gaming and has been hugely influential. There are great gmes in there like the Final Fantasy Series and Tomb Raider but I think the GTA3 series has been more influential.
