This is absolutely hilarious. I'm watching it now as I recorded it yesterday. It was so funny when the mum was arguing with the oldest daughter, then the dad butted in and the mum made him look like the bad one. So funny. And, what's up with the dad's shirts? They're so funny. :hello: I love this show.

I heard its the worst spin on reality Tv in years is it worth watching the next one.
I was very dissapointed about The Family, the adverts looked great and it looked as though it would be quite edgy, but it think it's boring and really quite fake.

Last episode tonight, I will miss them
Has anyone watched the day time shows which have been on this week, I caught one the other day and it was just clips from the show with people expressing views on that matter. The episode I watched focused around Tom's bed time and then a bunch of teenagers were having a debate about it

I have really enjoyed the series and I hope they repeat it so I can see the early programmes that I missed.
In some ways the unintrusive editing of the programme reminded me of Big Brother when it first began. It gave me, the viewer, that feeling that I was watching people go about there lives, rather than Big Brother of today which is very much about entertainment.

What did BB used to be more like that Red?
pinkmichk
05-11-2008, 10:47 PM
i agree red it did have a early days of bb vibe about. i love people watching i find it very interesting
magic the early bb was very much a social experiment completely different to how it is now

Sorry, that wasn't worded to well.
What I mean is, that with Big Brother 1 it was very much about observing people going about their lives in the Big Brother house, some of which was rather mundane and could at times seem trivial but are necessary parts of life. It was edited in away that you felt that you were behind the glass mirrors just watching what was going on.
Today's Big Brother is much more about entertainment. The camera's are used differently so you feel as a viewer you are in the house and that in a the heat of an argument seems like the housemate is shouting at you as their face fills the screen. Also the show is edited so the camera angle keeps changing to change the pace of the show.
What I mean by that is it is a common editing trick to increase the tension and speed of a programme/film by quickly going from one camera to another. The best example of this I can think of at the moment is something like a car case where every few seconds you go from one view to another, while in a romantic scene in the same production the camera will linger more on a fixed point.
So what getting at is Big Brother today is more about entertainment, while in the past it was more like the family, in as much as you the viewer are more a of spectator.

Oh I see, I may try and catch a few episode of BB1 one day online the, will be interesting to see the change.

It's hard to tell, it's an evolutionary process as the show has gone on to become what it has today.

That's how you felt about the housemates up to and including BB5, and maybe even BB6, after that I don't care about them any more.
May be that answers Magic's question.... that is when it changed for me.
I still love BB to bits and won't stop watching it, it just a different type of show.
I only caught the last 15 mins, everyone looked great though i am going to miss it.
