This is from digitalspy.
Five is taking another stab at having a successful reality series by importing a popular Swedish format.
Having longed for a 'breakout' reality show for some time now, the broadcaster made a first attempt earlier this year with Back to Reality from Princess Productions. The two-week series, which locked a number of former reality contestants in a house together, failed to set the ratings alight; a gamble which cost the network 35 million.
Now Five has turned to Endemol - the company behind Big Brother, The Salon and Fame Academy - and charged it with finding a new show to pull in the viewers.
According to Broadcast this week, Endemol will be adapting a successful Swedish format for the purpose. Called The Farm, the series will abandon 12 celebrities in rural surroundings where they will live without running water, electricity, modern toilet facilities or mobile phones for a month. Living in isolation, they must grow their own food, collect firewood and tend farmyard animals.
The series first aired in Norway in 2001 and has since been adapated for nine other countries including Italy, Sweden and France. Earlier this year the second season finale on TV2 Norway became the most-watched entertainment programme in the channel's history with a 61% audience share.
Five will strip the show over a month later this autumn.

When I heard about this I immediately thought of the scene in a Jonathan Creek episode where his magician boss was one of the micro-celebrities staying in a pig-sty for a week! Anyone else remember that?

I watched five minutes of this last night - what a load of rubbish - and who chose this lot. It must have been who is desperate for 'fame'? We'll approach them. The only interesting bit has been Paul Daniels storming off. This is a case of Reality Shows plumbing the depths
I can't stand the show and this says it all to me loads of people at work that hate reality TV love this show that's enough to put me off it  I also cannot stand Vanilla Ice :bored:

Actually, I watched it when Paul Daniels stormed off after that absolute **** Ice T went on and on about the good old US of A saving the world, being in charge of the world, having right always and unquestionably on it's size because, Goddam, there were the only right thinking people left in the place, and that Britain was rubbish, and whatever, the US ruled OK?
He was at least trying to discuss the issue quite intelligently with the moron, but no way, Jose was 'Ice' capable of any abstract thought.
Then, last night Terry Christian came in and immediately tackled 'Ice' on his extreme right wing views and the guy went utterly ballistic, foaming at the mouth!!
Several things from this:
I like both Paul Daniels and Terry Christian more than I did before
AND if we are so useless here (and I'm not arguing completely with that) why is Mr Ice demeaning himself to appear on a minor reality show on an unpopular channel in that same insignificant country??

I think he did appear on I'm famous and frightened, as did Jeff Brazier. Should it be 'I'm frightened I'm not famous' I wonder?
Busy Bee, I hope we aren't the only two people in the world outside of Barnet who are sad enough to get your last comment!!! Actually I do like Jack Daniels as well - I spent a couple of happy hours on a bar stool in Manhattan in his company. Until OH decided I was enjoying myself too much and propelled me forcibly back to our hotel, berating me for showing him up.
Again.

Hubby and I are really enjoying The Farm :spin2:
One person who has really surprised us is Jeff. Hard working, a good listener, funny and witty. Jade has let a good one go there!
Don't know who's going to win - was surprised Richie left last night over Margi and Debbie. He was another hard worker.
And the kittens - they are so cute .....
