Would you have the baby?

Me and my friends were having a debate in science today. Two of my friends were saying that if they got raped and got pregnant, they would keep the baby and then give it to an adoption agency.
Me and my other friend thought this was completely rediculous!! It would be so much easier and less harmfull to just get an abortion straight away or have the morning after pill.
The two other girls said that it was cruel to take away a human's life like that and that it is a good deed to give the baby to an adoption home.
We thought this was stupid because you weren't ruining someone's life when they are still just two cells that had been shmooshed(couldn't think of a better word) together. I would understand if you had got pregnant by accident with your long term boyfriend but if it had been raped I thought that was just mean to you and the baby to put yourself through the ordeal of being pregnant and giving birth, and then after all of that you don't even get to keep the baby. I don't think people understand how heartbreaking it is to give up a baby like that. You wouldn't know what the family that would adopt it would be really like and if they would look after the baby properly. You would always be worried about your birth child, who's father was a rapist. Also, I don't know because I'm not adopted but I can imagine wanting to find my true mother and wanting to know why she didn't keep me, I think it's a lot harder for adopted children to be as completely happy as otheres.
What would you do? Would you keep the baby?

If I was female [which of course I'm not] and if I was a raped [which I haven't], then I'd keep the baby and give it up for adoption.

I couldn't personally keep it but I couldn't abort it.

If I was a woman I would keep the baby and decide what to do with it afterwards... chances are you would grow attached to it. Its not the rapist growing in you its a unique person.

i'd keep the baby if it were me just cos of who the father is doesnt mean you should hold anything against the child but then i am against abortion anyway

Ohhh can I just make it clear that I mean when you're 14!! It would be completely different if I was older...

I'm a Catholic so I'm meant to say that I would have the baby but I honestly dont think I could so I would probably have an abortion. I know it sounds bad but I'm not really a very maternal person so think it would be difficult to have an attachment, especially if the child looked like its father.

Kind of, maybe you should look into how fast babies actually develop though? (I don't mean that in a rude way btw if thats how it comes across :joker:). By 12-15 weeks they are fully formed and just need to grow and its around then when people find out.

Up until 12 weeks you can take a pill that'll prevent furthering the pregnancy, I think at 15 it's the latest you can have it aborted via removal.

I would have an abortion, but I know it would take me ages to get over it because I've always dreamed about having a baby ( I love babies ).
But if I decide to keep the baby I think as the baby grows I would look at it and always remember the most terrible thing that happened to me, and would find it extremely hard to tell the child that it's dad raped me.
And of course, you can't lie to the child because one way or another it WILL find out!!!

Abort at the stage its just some cells not yet formed if it was in a baby shape say weeks and weeks on i couldnt get rid of it.

No I wouldn't have the baby,it would be so hard later in life having to explain "Where your father is" and what he done.

I am 14 and i would do what you said lol. I mean if you went and got yourself knocked up then that would be a different story to being raped.

Your friend needs to learn a bit more about the UK's care system, and exactly how many children are adopted (very few). I would not continue with the pregnancy.

well if i got raped i would definatly get an abortion and it probably wouldnt affect me .. even if it was like 20 weeks along the line.. it sounds bad but still i could never have a baby after being raped.. and like at like 16 i would definatly get an abortion

I would do exactly the same, I couldn't keep the baby knowing that it was unintended to happen, or with someone that I didn't know or care about.
I would only have a baby with someone that I loved, not somebody who raped me, I would still keep the baby rather than have a abortion and put the baby up for adoption as It wouldn't feel right keeping the baby.
