Think about it.
I think there should not even be a drinking age. Around Europe, people at any age can purchase alcohol with premission and can go into bars and clubs. This is good, and I will tell you why. If people at a younger age start drinking around the parents a little, it means that when they turn 18, they wont have a massive booze nighte every night.
In the UK, I think part of the crime is becaus eof people waiting until they are 18 to enter clubs, as soon as they turn 18, everything goes mad, fights, violence ect....
But in Europe, you never hear of these things because when people turn 18 its not such a bug event, they have had a drink before, so they cant go off the rails all in one go.
An example is where i come from in Sicily, you can enter a nightclub at any age, the thing is, the people under 18 and over 18 do not abuse the power to drink, they stay out of trouble because they have drank alcohol before and can control themselves.
Here, when people 18, it all comes straighta t once, and because they havnt been to a nightclub before, they make the most of it, sometimes too much of it.
So my overall opinion is that putting an age limit on these things, amkes violence worse.
Not sure if I have made sense here, but I get what i mean in my head.

I don't, but because in the media recently they have been saying it should be. I was just seeing your views on it.

no because it will just make far more teens etc taking from parents shoplifting getting older friends etc to buy it for them so they can get drunk in the park or whereever which i think would be far more harmful than leaving it where it is
cos its def a case of what you cant have you want more of
Kate..

No I don't think so. I mean lets be honest. Even with the drinking age at 18 there are still millions of teenagers drinking under the age(me included) and personally I think it should be moved to 16.
supernoodles!

Nononooo. All us underage people would drink more just to spite them. Well I would anyway
It's like the smoking law, it hasn't changed anything, I and all of my smoker friends still smoke, I don't know anyone who gave up because of it

It doesn't matter, people below the age of twenty will drink (and get drunk) anyway. I'm just being realistic.
Bitch if it's 21 in the US, you should suffer to and have yours be raised to 21.

Yes, Although It wouldn't stop younger people from drinking eitherway.
The only success we would get from this is being even more up America's bottom. We need to stop following every bleeding thing they do!

That's ludicrous, although I must say that it's so silly that we can get married and move out at sixteen, I rented my own flat for 2 months in February [family problems blah blah blah all sorted out now], and I had a houswarming party, but all of my friends who are over 18 had to supply the alcohol and it was just stupid.
I think that a lot of us would disagree with the law change if it did happen because we are under 18.
Actually, on second thoughts, changing the law to sixteen would be insane, because I turned sixteen before I finished secondary school, and I would literally have been drunk for the rest of the time that I was there I reckon. I think that all laws like this should be kept until we're at an age when we're no longer allowed free full-time education, and I think that's why most of them are the way that they are [ish], because we would just ruin it all.
that whole post seems really unordered, but I tried haha

I heard that sex was lowering to 15 since a survey showed most parents would be happy at that age, is that true?

The drinking age should be raised to at least 65 and rationed to one unit per month for the first 25 years.
Anyone feeding alcohol to children should be jailed for life or even longer...........On second thoughts the children should be jailed for life which would leave more drink spending money for the adults....
Seriously it should remain at 18 but the authorities should come down heavy indeed very heavy on drinking children and their irresponsible parents for allowing them to go on a binge of liver rot......

Yep. Defo should. The binge drinking is getting out of control now. Most trouble caused in my area is by youngsters who cannot handle their alcohol or drink responsibly.
I dont even think its the age limit thats causing the binge problem... we would have had trouble way before now if that was the problem. Its just lack of discipline, and lack of respect from kids these days!
Instead of making stupid laws, how about the government remove laws like the fact its illegal to smack children? Bring tougher punishments into schools and get the kids into shape, the country didn't have troubles like this to this scale about 50 years ago did they? The drinking age isn't the problem in my eyes, its the media and lack of discipline's fault! My mum smacked me as a kid and I completely respect her now, I know whats right and what isnt... my mum brought me up very respectivley, I dont drink on streets, I open the door for everyone and I stand up to let women sit down on the bus... because my mum made me understand as a kid that that was right and what I was supposed to do!
Parents these days are far too laid back... giving their 15 year old kids money to go drink in the local park. Not giving curfews and things, yes kids will moan but parents need to get over that.

i agree with you fom i was also smacked as a child and like you have the values etc that so many dont i am trying to install the same into my daughter but when there is 5 years in the park with their parents telling people to f off its a losing battle cos so many parents just dont lay down the rules cos they think on the lines of anything for a easy life

I dont see why it cant be an option... its very simple.
If you do something naughty... it results in pain. How do you dodge pain? Dont be naughty!
Thats how kids think... its certainly how I thought as a kid, and if you learn habits as a kid they just seem to carry on throughout your life... I dont think like that now but my conscience still tells me to do all these things to prevent me from being naughty.

no... its stupid... its riciulous that you have to be 25 to buy alcohol!! i mean if you can drink it at 18 then why do you have to be 7 years older to buy it!
and anyway no matter what the age is highered too people will still be underage drinking..
