Without taking the Chav test, would you ever honestly admit to being a Chav?

Funny thing is most people don't realise they're Chavs. One thing you should never do is tell a Chav they're a Chav.

Have you ever been called a Chav? At least simply based on your appearance?

Take a step further if you dare. Do you know of any Chavs or Chavette's here? :cheer2:

I like to wear joggers/trackies/hoodies and that around the house when I'm going commando.

I wouldn't dare wear trackies to go clothes shopping though.

Chav is primarily used as an insult.
It's a negatively connotative word, not just the name of a "subgroup"

So calling yourself it would be silly.

Never been called a chav,an emo when I was wearing my black and bright green TT hoody until people realised it was a Take That hoody.

Don't know any chavs either(or knackers as well call them).

And 90% of my friends are.

Never been called a Chav, I do not behave like one would, certainly don't dress like one (complete opposite).
Yeah I own like these casual tracksuit bottoms, but there for around the house, dog walking, popping down to the local shops, like when people wouldn't really care and there really isn't any other suitable clothing for those moments.

Hugo
07-10-2008, 10:56 PM
I always wear these casual/tracksuit bottoms;

Have sooo many pairs.

I wear clothes i'm comfortable in so I'm often wearing sporty type clothes and such so I kinda dress like one unintentionally but I'm pretty far from a Chav. I hate rap music, I couldn't care less about pimpin' cars and I'm not a yob lol.

I mean yeah, why dress up for cutting the grass? LOL

But really I'm not Chav.
My speech, mannerism, dress sense, behaviour is nothing of those to a stereotypical chav.

I wear trackies out and about like to the shop or if Im sitting in, but I wouldn't say I was a chav or ned as we call them in Scotland. I don't drink on street corners, only in a house + I don't play music from my phone on the back of the bus.

tbh I don't even think people say chav knowing what it means, most people associate it with burberry, benefits, council housing, adidas trackies, gold (especially sovereigns) etc.

I've been called one before, not seriously though, because I wear grey jogging bottoms a lot (especially into college when I used to go), because I like the gym and have short hair ...

Me and my mum call chavs "Goth Cockroaches"
All they where is black, and they only come out at night... they are just as bad as goths haha. Supernoodles, dont diss Slipknot and Metallica, they are amazing bands

When I used to hang out on the skate park I was called a goth once by a group of chavs... even though I was wearing coloured fingerless gloves. The amount of times i got "Mosher" shouted at me everytime I walked down the street as a kid from chavs. They are the worst for it.
There is just general hate for each other, I get along with both sides now, I dress more normally these days and I talk to "Chavs" in college and I go to rock clubs with "Moshers" I dont like using the terms for my friends, sounds a bit offensive.
My mates are more metal heads than moshers anyway, moshers to me are those long haired boring people who wear really baggy jeans and rock t-shirts. My mates dress like a rocker but not a mosher... but because they look different they get classed as a mosher. Chavs dont like anything different in their world... they dont get out much you see!

and I agree with you.
Anyone that'd be classed as goth/scene/emo are MUCH nicer than anyone would be classed as a chav. I've been labelled emo many times, I can see where it came from but I wouldn't personally say that I'm in that category, however, I do tend to get on with those sorta people. I can only think of a handful of 'chavs' that me/my mates get on with.
Most of them just go 'eurgh you're weird/emo/gay'

I'm not remotely goth or emo, that's the thing, but I used to be and I have friends who are both emo and chav, and obviously this is a geenralisation but I've found emos to be nicer. are emos going round stabbing people and getting pregnant at 12? Because i'd certainly say that the majority of the people in Britain doing these things are chavs.

I guess, I don't really mind chavs as long as they don't start getting cocky with me. The way they dress doesn't annoy me, just some of the things they do. don't get me wrong, I'm not saying every chav does this but some do.

I dont like how chavs are painted as bad people that nick stuff and do bad things. I know and have come across many chavs and they are exactly like everyone else, they are actually well mannered, the only thing that they do that makes them look like a chave is the few words they say and what they wear.

Now, around last week I bumped into a "chav" and I said "Oops, Sorry" and they replied "Naa, dont worry about it mate". If this was Hollyoaks and a character did that, the chav would of probably beaten the person up.

Also quite a while ago, I saw a 70-80 year old carrying Waitrose bags and she dropped one of them, someone in a hoody and smoking a ciggerette helped her, when he approached her she got really scared, but he helped her and handed her the bag back and she thanked him.

Edit- I walked into my lesson chewing gum once and my teacher (who's in his mid 20s) he said "Can you please chew less like a chav?" and then laughed. Since when is chewing gum chavy? I even told him, and he was like "Whatever chav!", he's a funny bloke though.
