My son told me that one kid in his class had a book slapped across his head by a teacher, I told my son that these days it is illegal for a teacher to hit a child whether it be with a book or even his/her hand.

Apparently I'm wrong?:bored:

In my day, kids used to get hit by teachers. That was in the eighties. But today it is meant to be illegal, but my son says otherwise. I guess it depends on the school or even how a teacher hits the child.

She used a book, a slim book which was effective as the kid stood to attention rather than messing about in class.

If it was a large book the kid could end up with brain damage. That could affect his/her exam results lol.

Never happened when I was in school, but if I was a teacher I'd end up hitting a kid (in secondary school anyway)

They dont where i go. But the teachers that I like, throw pencils at me for a laugh and I throw pencial back. But then there are some with no sense of humour at all. I would say that in my school, the teachers with the best sense of humours are males and around 22-30 years old. The older teachers are gurmpy as hell!!

Anyway my Food Tech teacher does kinda the same thing, but she's just messing about. XD

EDIT:

Oh. Suppose he couldn't have been since it was outside of school. XD I was just thinking it would be a stupid thing for a teacher to touch you in certain ways right out in the public.

He hardly took advantage? I was chatting with him... probs giving him the eye cos he was hot! He was a PE TEACHER! Thats just hot.

But I dont see how he took advantage. I had left school etc. To me he was just a hottie in the pub.

As long as you were happy about it and it was outside of school then it sounds okay.

Erm...

A teacher in my school has been suspended for slapping someone in class on the back of the head with a book.

He is from Sudan.

I think if a teacher hit me, I would hit them back(if it was a male). If it was a girl, I would tell her to F off.

I like the teachers that joke about and have laugh, and considering I go to a really bad South London school we've never had a teacher hitting student incident.

We get hit in college... if we are repeatedly annoying to tutors they go:

"Touch your toes"

Then they boot us up the bum haha... its so funny to watch... once some lad forgot to bring in his work, she he lay him on the floor and he jumped over him his feet were going right for his head and he opened them at the last milli second... my heart went into my mouth!

My Business Studies teacher slapped me across the back of the head once for not bringing in 'an appropiate copy'. He was a douchebag (and he's retired now!).

Yep... because we'd hate for him to do poorly on his exams. Oh, and I guess the brain damage is bad too.

well with our school being really strict, there would be hell on if something happenedt. . But you usually you find the younger teachers hit people for a joke (lightly) if they are doing something midly wrong such as talking but nothing more than a joke or something that would hurt.

Up to at least the early 1980's, it was legal to administer corporal punishment in schools.

Children could be beaten at school, for not getting sufficient marks in a spelling test.

My understanding is that that was declared illegal in state schools, but persisted for a while in private schools.

I never received corporal punishment, although I was at school when it was around.

Children would be hit with a stick (The cane), or a trainer (The slipper)

The aim was to make a permanent mark or bruise.

My mother was canned for writing with her left hand.
