View Full Version : Diana is completely overrated

Tom
12-10-2008, 02:02 AM
I liked her in the earlier stages and was a bit unsure of her at bootcamp but now I know for definite she is overrated. She wasn't that good at all tonight and looked like she'd just got of bed and dragged through a hedge backwards.

Alex & Laura are much stronger, and one of those two are going to win.

This thread will be your downfall Thomas.

[I don't think she will win though, shes a favourite on forums but I believe that Hope were last year. Austin's got it in the bag.]

I dont think she is overratted. I think she is right were she needs to be, 3rd or 4th favorite to win! If she carries on getting better, she might climb up and possibly win! DOnt forget, she is the least experienced singer of all of them so, she is more likely to have a better imrovement curve than the other girls! ANyways its ridiculous to say she is over ratted this early! SHe did a great ob week one, thats it! Lets see if she is just as good or better next week, then you can say whatever!

I think most of the acts were shaky at the start, just to get used to the mic, its normal!

I do like her, I liked her in bootcamp and kind of in the judges homes. I just think people are hyping her up to much and I don't think she deserves to be a forum fave at all when there are much stronger singers. Maybe it was a bad song choice? We'll see.

I see your point but it's not all, 100% about the voice. (Although obviously it's a major percentage.)

I personally really like her and I really hope she is good and it was just nerves. If she had sung the song well tonight, it would of been absolutly amazing!

Whether people win or not isn't the reason people like the singer. So it's not really relivant to whether or not their opinions can be classed as 'knowing what the hell they are talking about' or not.

I think Diana did look off before the makeover and live shows but someone has shown her how to apply make up and do the messy look without looking disheveled and now she is actually pretty beautiful.
While I do think she started badly tonight when she had the louder parts she was fantastic- if you like her kind of music that is.
I think Diana's appeal lies in the fact she is something not often seen on the X Factor which is someone quite unconventional from the norm but still marketable, that's where her popularity comes from, she's a 'quirky' singer with a pretty face and you aren't likely to get her mixed up with the other contestants any time soon!
Personally I think she's a breath of fresh air from the usual Leona type singers the X Factor usually presents (Like Alexandra) and I think its her differences that make her so popular or in your opinion 'overrated'.

She did have a shaky start but she IS a good singer.
Obviously if you compare vocal talent, she would be weaker than the other two girls.
However, the X-Factor isn't just about vocal talent [though I admit, I do wonder sometimes =|] and she is extremely likeable, and unique. No-one else like her in the charts today. I find her totally captivating, and if she was to win [in an ideal world] she'd be the first UNIQUE winner.

There is something about Diana that I just luv, her voice is so unique, it's different from the others. I agree that Laura and Alex are much stronger then Diana, but I still say that the girls and Rachel are by far the best.

I think there was trouble with Mic's all night, everyone seemed really quiet. But her voice amazes me... she reminds me of The Cranberries... She really needs to sing this song next week, this will prove how talented she is!:

I can see what you're saying Tom, but I think the reason for the hype is that she's really unique. I don't think she's going to win though, she's too far out for the general public to really 'get' but I think she'll maybe finish 5th/6th/7th (though I hope she does better)

She's not weird. That's horrible!
She went on stage without shoes because she was scared she'd trip over. She doesn't seem like a 'heels' girl anyway since most other times we've seen her, she hasn't worn heels.

She's not the first person to go on stage without shoes; Sandy Shaw? EVEN Leona Lewis has performed barefoot before.

I never said she was weird, I said she's putting the weird act on. Acting as if she doesn't have a clue what's going on, she could wear flats? I hope they cleaned the stage for whoever performed after her. Bare foot on a stage, disgrace.

I didn't say you had to care about her, I'm just saying that Diana is far from the first person to go barefoot on stage, so I can't see why you're targetting that. It's a bit pathetic, and comes across as if you're LOOKING for reasons to insult her. Sandy Shaw - Puppet On A String, Eurovision. Joss Stone's gone barefoot too.

Like Tom said, I'm not calling her weird. She just seems like she's come from space and acts all dopey.

I still think going barefoot is disgusting. So Joss Stone, Leona and that Sandy person are all tramps.

Wth. What a stupid arguement LOL.

She isn't just being born though, and humans were shoes when they're out in public.

She isn't the Queen, so yes she does have to wear shoes otherwise she will be deemed as trampy (by me) but hey that's my opinion.

I hated Diana, but last nights performance was second best to Ruths. It was amazing. I just hope the public don't get bored of her, as they so often do very quickly with unsual voiced singers (Macy Gray, Anastacia etc.)

Yeah, look Alisha, Phillip, Ashley, Maria etc.
They all had quite unique voices [compared to other contestants], and had an early exit.

I think she could win, her voice is distinctive and very contemporary! Me and my old man said we would buy that song she sang Saturday and we never say that!

Diana is too annoying to win.

Laura, Alexandra & Rachel have the strongest voices.

To be fair though, Alisha,Phillip and Ashley were awful when they were eliminated, it had nothing to do with an unusual voice.

Did anyone actually hear the first minute of her performance? - Oh wait no-one could because she was having an orgasm whilst trying to sing.

Diana was doing something called singing an act of which some members are unfamiliar with on this forum since all the singers they know need some sort of machine to perform. Harsh but true.

Funnily enough, most of the people who seem to 'hate' Diana are the ones who seem to listen to the artists whose voices get edited the most.

I think she's overrrated too. In fact, I think Hannah should have gone thru to the live finals at Diana's expense. I also dont see too many commercial opportunities for her; she doesnt have the purity of tone of say a Nora Jones of a Katie Melua. I think she's taking up space in the final twelve

Hannah wouldn't have brung in votes though. If anything she'd have taken away from Laura.

Obviously not wasting space if she is the bookies 3rd fave to win

I think she has a very unique sound but i dont see her winning at all. She is going to struggle when it come to certain genre's each week

I'm surprised Diana's third fave so I think you and I should have a friendly wager that she finshes much lower than that. Are you up for that?

Why would Hannah not bring in the votes? I didn't like her (because of her personality, or lack of) but she was extremely talented, but she was quite mysterious and secretive. I think she definitely had "it" even though I didn't particularly like her.

Hannah & Laura were also nothing like each other, I don't get how one would take votes away from the other.

She is god. But she will be out like week 4 or 5. Same as Ashley from 2 years ago. Unique, weird, will be interesting for 3 weeks, then.......
Make way for the real singers!

Michael Jackson week first, I bet she murders whatever she gets with her nails down a blackboard voice.

Diana can do Michael Jackson1

I dont think she will struggle this week! There are a lot of songs from her to choose from that will suit her!

But like I said, I dont see her as a contender, just a pretty good singer.
She will do better than most outside of Xfactor though! For sure!

I think she is good, but I do agree that she is overrated.
Her voice only suits those hippy songs, and I think she will struggle with alot of songs especially next week with Michael Jackson's songs.

I don't think any of his songs would suit her voice.

Strange thing is - I'm sitting here taking the p*ss but I think she's going to do quite well. I dont think she'll make the final but I can see her being around during the last few weeks. I also dont think she'll deserve it but, judging by the response on here, its clear she has loyal fans who will vote for her every week. Once the show is done I dont see much of a future for her. She's too specific in style and her style doesn't sell the millions that other styles do.

I reckon she'll do well outside of X Factor. She's got a good relaxing sound. She could be a singer song writer like Katie Melua or Sarah Maclauchan (sp?).

I was thinking the same thing, she has a very edgy voice but I still feel she will struggle and its when the singer dont feel comfortable with the songs that faults and cracks start to appear

My little summing up was based on the fact that she doesn't write her own songs. The way I see it, if she write her own songs she'll be OK she's slip into the genre you specified but if she doesn't then I see no future for her. I cant see professional songwriters writing songs for her as opposed to say Girls Aloud or Kylie.

I think Diana may struggle too, but I think most of the girls will, because MJ songs are more suited to boys.
