'Leave Jade alone, she's saving lives,' says Kerry Katona as she wades into row with Katie Priceerry Katona has defended Jade Goody after glamour model Katie Price criticised the cancer-stricken reality TV star for selling her story.
Kerry told MailOnline exclusively 'Jordan is totally wrong on this one.
'Jade has already saved many lives with her tireless charity work and the more she sends that important message of cancer awareness, she deserves nothing but credit.'
Jade has given interviews since her diagnosis with cervical cancer and has admitted she is being paid for them. She says she is saving the money for her two young sons, in case she does not survive her illness.
But Katie Price, who came to fame as glamour model Jordan, has blasted the 27-year-old: 'I feel sorry for anyone who is going through what Jade is going through but I can't believe she is paid for interviews on subjects that people are really traumatised by. I hope she gets through it all though.
'There has to be an awareness that that sort of cancer can happen to anyone - but I saw her on Celebrity Big Brother and thought she was racist. She didn't give people sympathy when she was on that show.'
A source said: 'Jade is very upset about what Jordan said and this was not nice of her [Jordan], to put it mildly. This is the last thing she needs at the moment.
'Kerry called Jade and expressed how horrified she was at Jordan. She's firmly on her side and thinks Katie's behaviour was an extremely low blow, to say the least.'
Jade's publicist Max Clifford told MailOnline that the mother-of-two was hoping her illness would encourage other women to get checked for the disease.
'She's coping very well,' he said. 'She's determined to help all she can with cancer awareness and is having regular smear tests to look after herself. We're all very proud of her courage and dedication.'
Katie and her former friend Kerry have publicly aired their differences in the past.
Soon after her marriage Kerry’s husband Mark Croft accused Jordan and her husband Peter Andre of 'showboating' their showbiz lifestyle.
Katie hit back by branding Mark a 'bully'.
