Ok, before we plan in depth, and get mod approval, I thought we should kind of sum up what would happen if we ever did do a mini-radio.
Hosting Site
Any ideas of where this should be hosted?
Live or Prerecorded
What would you prefer
Podcast or Radio
Obviously with a podcast it wouldn't be live, but what format would you prefer?
Time Span
Once a week for an hour, once a month for an hour?
Etc.
Show Content
What kind of stuff would you be interested in hearing about?

I'd do it.
There are websites where you can create playlists to be played kinda like a radio? On another site I'm on, they have an option to click the radio button and it plays the songs whilst you browse. 'tis funky :]
Anyhoo, yeah, I quite like this idea.
I'd do it. haha.

Cool, I am not sure where it stands with the legalitys of playing music, but say you could have general TV talk, TiBB talk (funny banter) and other stuff.
Callum
19-10-2008, 05:55 PM
But how could we do it on here? :puzzled:
hannah.
19-10-2008, 05:56 PM
record it and then put it onto youtube maybe?

I dunno, I guess it would be on an external site, but just with TiBB members etc?
I'm not to sure on the ins and outs, or altermatively, we could compile a TiBB Podcast, say not just about BB, but TiBB in general? Could be fun.
Callum

We should have a live streaming radio on an external site like Magic said and members could fill in slots.
Ask mambosambowimbowambo?

I think this would be really good, I would like to be part of the production side of things. I wouldn't do presenting or anything though. Maybe you should organize something Magic and set up some job roles and then people can U2U you and apply.
There was a fan site where me and Ross used to go on which had a radio... it was alright. Some were really bad haha... you can get radio hosting just like web hosting these days.

When I get sufficient feedback, I'll seek admin-approva, andl if its positive response, and then seek individuals to host/produce etc.
Live would be brilliant...
So people could request songs for certain members or threads.
Radio- I love that format.
Although a PodCast would be brilliant for my ipod :D
One a week :D
For an hour.
I would love to hear like Entertainment/music news... TiBB Gossip. Requests. General Funny chat.
I would be interesting in producing it.
Hosting isn't for me.. :P

If you get an actual radio hosting then the cost of it depends on how many people listen. Its usually best to have more than an hour on a radio station... like 10am - 10pm.
I reckon a podcast would be a good idea! Every week/month the members could record some funny things, do some silly stuff add some songs in, and just do it like a radio show but then edit it al together.
Get a leader who can do it?
I like that idea very much, I would be interested to do that!

It wouldn't be such a novelty if it was run every night and people have lives away from the forum. Once a week would be adequate imo.

LOL that would be much to much work, and would wear out the novelty.
I think it would either be an hour every month, or a hour every week, in series say.
http://www.ubroadcast.com/broadcast.php
< A site I found.
Issues
- Royalty fees must be paid
- Not to sure yet if you can have multiple presenters from diffrent locations on one show, so pre-recorded may have to be an option, with say 10minutes of live, which could include a phone call from other members.

I want to do this defnitley.
I think for the idea you have... 1 hour a week. You should do podcasts rather than a radio show, less costly and a lot easier to do. All you have to do is upload it too the server and people can download it and listen to it on their itunes or w.e.
Why pay for an extra hosting site when you can do the same thing for free.
I'll be a DJ.

I think live radio shows have a much better atmosphere than sitting down and listening to a pre-recorded podcast. Anything can happen on a live show, but podcasts can sometimes be predicable.

I could do competitions for money instead of habbo furniture. Seeing as I have money, but you need paypal - it would be good.

You create a server on a website... better to have its own website really.
Then, all the dj's download a program where they can add songs in, present the show and all that jazz. They can read messages sent to the server and have an e-mail thing that helps sort it all.
Its very easy once set up... you just set up a timetable and everyone has a username and only that username can broadcast at that time.

If you got Google Ads then you could get loads of members to keep clicking the links and then get enough money to pay the fees to play music on a live radio.
It could be useful for things like TiBB Idol

Maybe you should open an application for DJ's, then research on advertisement deal kind of things...
But I am well behind this... I would even do my own show when I can :) But maybe you should ask the admins if you can use their name for this? If not then we can use the radio under a different name.
But who is going to pay for it all? Your not gonna do this for free...

I will do a Master Class to all the DJ's about how to prepare a show hehe.
I'd help out a bit, I'm good at like producing stuff, I did radio for Media A Level coursework so I'm a bit clued up on it. Maybe not as much as Fom but I know what i'm doing

I'll get Magic to start a 'recruitment' process so that members can apply for different positions on the radio. Hopefully all of the members that want to can be part of the radio in some way.

Ill record a single haha.
Im actully pretty good lol. Im like a drama school student lol.
Researching up on this guys... its a lot of work.
I genuinly think the podcast route is the best idea... unless someone is willing to donate a lot of money. You need a license so you can play music, and all music played has to be bought and not downloaded via limewire. Also you cant get free streaming... you will have to pay for hosting!
Obviously people wont contact us unless the radio got big... but if its associated with the forum it could get it all closed down. If someone crossed the radio and discovered unlicensed music was being played more than the website going down could happen.
If your up for it, I reckon it will be worth it... but it needs some back up before you even go into planning the shows, you will only get dissapointed. If all else fails... the podcast is still the best idea... maybe we can stream pre recorded podcasts on this server to make it feel like its live?

Releasing our own singles sounds wicked, even if it was just for a joke.
That way I could start advertising the track that me and my bf are working on [or well, he's producing]

Hmm, I agree Fom.
I dont know if its worth forking out alot of money for a thing that could be a fad, maybe trial the princibles of it over podcast.
Also, I assume music fees must be paid when it acts as a podcast?

There are ways to get around it though, maybe by creating a youtube channel and making the radio as videos, just with a blank screen or something on them, just not moving obviously.
Then because its youtube, it can't actually be closed down but videos removed if record companies don't like it, but with the amount thats on youtube anyway thats really unlikely.

 I hate legality! Hopefully we can come up with an amazing feel-like-it's-live podcast and add some other exciting features in to make up for it. Do you know if you are allowed to play music on a podcast Fom?

Yes good idea to do a trial before forking out! And technically yes, but if we keep the podcast low key and no one knows about it but forum members... then we can be cheeky and not pay anything...
Maybe if we set a process of only members with over 500 posts can see it, that way its very very unlikely we can get in trouble! EVEN... we can have our own forum section for forum podcasts! Make a new topic for each one!

You'd be ripping music off a CD which is illegal in itself if it is not for personal use (I think) and we could need a license (which costs money) to broadcast the music.

That would be more of a TV show than a radio show then wouldn't it? It probably wouldn't look very good either but nice idea.

That isn't as expensive as I though it would be, if we could get enough ad revenue then something like that could be possible.
OK I've just had a good idea, why don't people who want to do it try it out first on freecast.co.uk where you can book a slot on a radio station, and if its a success keep booking slots, then eventually think about forking out for it and turning it into its own station
Or I just hack a radio site :laugh3:
Im currently gonna do a quick chat with Sam... then we will throw ideas in here :colour:
