OUTED AUSTIN SETS RECORD STRAIGHT! - GAY SITE GETS IT WRONGX FACTOR finalist Austin Drage was in shock last night after he was “outed” by fans as gay.
They claimed the hunky singer is open about his sexuality and hordes of gay men were clambering to get him into bed.
But the talented wannabe has decided to set the record straight. He is not gay – and he has a girlfriend.
Last night Austin, 22, from Essex, said: “I am sorry to disappoint but I am not gay. But I am very flattered to have a gay fan base.
“And I appreciate all the support I have been getting while on X Factor.” Austin gained a gay following when he appeared on the E4 show Boys Will Be Girls two years ago.
He and two other lads agreed to form a “girlband” called The Honey Trapz for the camp series.
They then had to try to fool music bosses that they were for real.
Around the same time, Austin put some semi-naked modelling shots of himself on the net.
Now a gay website called DNA has picked up on the photos and posted them under the title Sunday Hotness.
DNA wrote: “Multimedia star from the UK, Austin Drage appeared in the Guy Ritchie movie Snatch as well as on TV in Casualty and The Bill.
“Openly gay, his main love is music. And he appeared for a time as part of the band 5Boyz.”
Gay groupies have been plastering the site with saucy messages for him in the hope of a date.
One, Phillip, wrote: “What a honey. He looks like he just got out of bed – wish it was mine.”
A lad called Captain V added: “Austin formed a girlband on Boys Will Be Girls. Now if that isn’t a way of being openly gay, I’m not sure what is.”
And someone calling themselves Eartheo said: “Openly gay huh? Someone tell him to have a concert here already! Hot damn!”
However, after hearing about his fake outing, Austin decided to speak out and put the rumour to rest.
His voice coach David Gregory, 42, also confirmed that the singer was into girls and not boys.
David said: “I started coaching Austin from the age of 12.
“I explicitly refute those accusations about him being gay.
“Austin confided in me with everything. He never said anything about being gay.”
