Good question! I was thinking about that the other day. I went to see Colin fry last year and thought it was the biggest load of bollocks! I think its just intuitive thinking I dont think they actually talk to the dead or know stuff about you. having said that a friend of my sister in laws claims to be psychic and he said something once that came true and I dont really know how to explain it, other than I may of unconsciously done it. I dunno Colin Frys a fraud anyway

I think some are real and can actually predict things in the future but I think there are a lot of frauds. I think they are people who will have better and more 'trained' claims and eh "powers".
I have never been to one but have always wanted to as I believe in my horoscopes etc.
My mum has been to one and they predicted EVERYTHING about her life to a tee.
Fakes. My mum went to see Doris Stokes, years back. What she done was sick and she had blantly looked in the death's in the local paper. Vile woman! :yuk:

I voted false
That is called cold reading
I would refer people to the works of James Randi and his educational foundation. (http://www.randi.org/)

Real! Obviously some of them are fake but some of them are so good.
I went to a fortune teller back in November and she knew a freakish amount of stuff about me,and proper stuff too not little flimpsy things! She told she I was going to do something medical and I didn't believe her at all,and here I am studying Nursing!

Yeah, but that could be a concious decision, without knowing it. Woah, does that make sense? Lol. :laugh2:

Not really, lol. But it wasn't just that, there was other stuff too(which I'm not getting into) but one other thing(which ain't that personal) is that she knew I wanted to leave Ireland.
I've visited a couple, some so blatantly fake, cold reading etc, but some experiences that clearly aren't cold reading.

If that is the case, why will they not take up Randi's challenge :nono:

I reckon some are just cold reader while others just have good instincts perhaps? I doubt anyone can really tell a person's future for real.

I think their real, but I think thats me only being wishful thinking as I went to one and they said stuff about me which were ture but they also read my future (with them cards) I don't know whether thats classed as psychic but anyway the cards said I would get rich, marry, get even more rich, something bad will happen, get rich again, divorce, get married and have children.
Lol, sounds a pretty eventful life.

They told my mum before she knew that she wouldnt be able to have children and they said that she would marry a man that would never be accepted from her family and she would end up with two children who were not hers by blood but they would be hers in her heart and they would both be musical. They said the first child's first instrument will not be the one they stick with for their life. They told her what she would do property and career wise. Thats pretty specific for someone who is just guessing by looking at you dont you think?

And how many guesses did they get wrong?
The problem is, people remember what they got right, but forget the misses.
That is why they seem so on target.

She described a couple of dead people to the tee (no misses) who were close to me, and she told me one thing, just the one, to quote- "look after yourself within the next year, something life changing will happen to you on the roads but you'll pull through the incident against the odds and will become a better person through it.'
3 months later I had a bad motorbike accident which almost killed me, they expected that I either wouldn't live, would be badly brain damaged or wouldn't be able to walk. I'm fine and the whole thing gave me a completely different outlook on life.
How would you explain that?

What she said could have applied to anything, and you are retrospectively fitting it to events because you want to believe.
It is possible she said stuff that was wrong, but you have not remembered them. Then of course there is always dumb luck.
Why not get them to approach the Randi foundation and prove that what they have is real.

I specifically asked her to write it down so I could look at it again in the future. I've just dug the page out to type out.
I think its a bit too specific to be cold reading.

I do believe that some people have psychic ability.
I don't however believe that a gypsy can tell you the future after or before trying to sell you some worthless heather. That is just pityful.
