Devoted dad Dan has 2 secret families
Lover reveals truth about tragic
'sympathy vote' X Factor star
TRAGIC crooner Daniel Evans has TWO secret families after getting two girls pregnant in FIVE MONTHS, we can sensationally reveal.
The 38-year-old X Factor hopeful won the hearts of viewers when he told how his beloved wife died soon after childbirth last year.
But he failed to mention he also had two older kids, both 15, with DIFFERENT mums. And the bizarre set-up has led to the mother of his first child looking after his baby daughter so he can seek fame on telly.
Anne Daines—whose son Danny is Daniel’s firstborn—now sings the praises of her ex despite him getting another woman pregnant while she was expecting.
She explained: “He’s always been a hit with the ladies. But now we are better off as just friends.” Anne told the News of the World how Daniel:
MASKS the constant pain he feels over his wife Jacqueline’s death;
LOATHES the makeover X Factor chiefs have given him;
HATES the songs he has to sing; and
REFUSES to believe he’s a babe magnet despite women throwing themselves at him.
ANNE, 40, was with Daniel for a year before they started trying for a baby. But four months into her pregnancy she split with him.
He then got a new girlfriend, TANYA Brewster, who quickly fell pregnant. But they split soon after.
Then Daniel went back to Anne just a few days before she went into labour with their son Danny.
Five months later Tanya gave birth to his daughter Mollie. But Daniel stayed with Anne for the next four years until she dumped him again.
Soon after, Daniel met JACQUELINE and they moved to Spain and married. But—as we revealed last month—she tragically died in August 2007, aged 39, from multiple organ failure caused by complications during pregnancy. It happened just five days after she gave birth to their daughter Ana-Maria.
In his first X Factor audition, Daniel brought judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue to tears after dedicating the song Sometimes When We Touch to Jacqueline.
And Anne—a housewife from Romford, East London—revealed her and Daniel’s tangled love story.
They first met at a pub in 1991, when he and his mates were singing karaoke. In September that year pool cleaner Daniel moved in with Anne and her two eldest children, Jamie, now 21, and Samantha, 18.
Anne recalled: “We had our song, Just Once by James Ingram. Daniel would sing it at the pub. He was an incredible singer and could never relax at a pub until someone handed him a microphone.
“I was madly in love with him until I got pregnant and things changed. My head wasn’t right—I got overly emotional and didn’t want him near me and I didn’t want to be touched.
“It must have been difficult for him to understand. I finished it when I was four months pregnant. I did my thing and he went off and did his for a while.”
Daniel’s thing turned out to be getting a new girlfriend, Tanya—who’s now a nurse. After a month she fell pregnant.
Anne said: “They dated for four to six weeks. I’m fine with what happened because Daniel and I weren’t together.
“When they split up Daniel got back together with me, a few days before Danny was born.
“I was delighted to have him back. We stayed together for almost four years, until things weren’t working any more.
“We had grown apart and I decided to call it a day. Looking back now it is obvious we are just better off as friends.”
Daniel then met Jacqueline and amazingly all three became GOOD PALS. Anne recalled: “Once the tension cooled between me and Daniel we surprisingly became the closest of friends. And when Jacqueline first came round for a chat we didn’t stop talking.
“Daniel and Jacqueline were perfect together. When she fell pregnant they were over the moon. She would wear tops with little hand and footprints on them as her belly blossomed.
“Daniel was a mess when she died. Oh my God, it was awful.”
Anne, who is now married and has another son, five-year-old son Luke, went on: “The truth is he still hasn’t pulled himself together. Everyone thinks when they see him on X Factor, ‘That guy is so strong—he’s amazing.’
“He’s doing really well but people don’t see his bad days.
“When he has a bad day you can just tell. You can see it in his eyes. He will say Jackie should be here.” Daniel talks to Anne daily, as she is looking after little Ana-Maria until he finshes X Factor.
Anne smiled: “He’s always been a hit with the ladies, though he won’t believe it even now if you say someone fancies him. He’s always been very insecure—mostly about his voice.
“He is stunned to have made it this far on the X Factor and refuses to believe he stands a chance at winning.”
But Anne, who has helped set up the Danny Evans Official Fan Club on Facebook, also admitted: “He wants better song choices.
“The songs he’s had aren’t his songs. He’d be much better with something like Michael Buble.
“Michael Jackson’s One Day in Your Life just isn’t his thing. He desperately wants to be able to show the world who he is and hasn’t been able to do that yet.” The songs aren’t the only thing he’s not happy with, Anne says.
“He also hates his new hair colour,” she revealed. “I don’t know what they were thinking. None of the girls would have put up with going ginger.
“But he just feels so lucky to be doing what he’s doing and trusts the advice he is given, especially from his mentor Dannii.
“He is having the time of his life, and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy. I hope he goes all the way.”
Son Danny, who turned 15 in May, is also rooting for Daniel. He told us: “It’s a bit strange seeing him on telly. My mates always talk about it. They are all voting for him. My teachers are too.
“I used to love it when he took me to a pub where he was performing. He would sing to me when I was little and I would sing back. He’s a great dad, a lot of fun.”
And half-sister Mollie—who was 15 last Sunday and has been watching her dad in the studio audience—said: “I used to watch him perform at pubs but I like the way he is much more confident now. I like all the songs my dad has done.
“No matter what, I’m really proud of him.”
