Simon Cowell was left reeling today after Beyonce recorded a song that was originally intended for Leona Lewis.


The track called ‘Halo' was written for Leona by Ryan Tedder, lead singer for soft-pop act One Republic, who also wrote Leona's transatlantic smash ‘Bleeding Love'.

Cowell was said to be shocked by the news that Beyonce had recorded the track as he had previously agreed with Tedder that the song would be recorded by Leona.

An insider at SongBMG, Leona's record label, said: "Leona's diary is so rammed it didn't look like she could record it until next year. Ryan didn't want to hang around so he gave it to Beyonce".

Although it's hard to fault Beyonce for wanting to perform the track, I can't help thinking that the song would suit Leona's tones a lot more. Listen to Beyonce's version of the track below and let us know who you would prefer to hear sing 'Halo'.

It would have sounded better with Leona.

Yeah, I think it would suit Leona more. Sometimes Beyonce's voice doesn't go low enough and it sounds a bit weird... like 0.39-0.40secs.

No. She has created an alter-ego, her new album is called "I Am... Sasha Fierce" - the album has 2 discs, one disc is all 'slow, meaningful' songs recorded by Beyonce. The second disc is all 'up-temto, beaty' songs recorded by Beyonce (but under the name Sasha Fierce) her father said "she's at an amazing point in life and didn't want the 2 sides of her to be mixed together in an album, so she created an alter-ego to show both sides of Beyonce."

Also, I love Halo - the best 'Beyonce' track from the album.

beyonces annoying but she has good voice and some great tracks :whistle:
