The X Factor house has exploded in a series of bitter behind-the-scenes rows.
The eight surviving acts believe the contest is a three-horse race.
Details of the last four public votes have leaked – splitting the house in half as jealous tantrums, rows and feuds have flared.
Only cute Irish lad Eoghan Quigg, 16, quirky blonde Diana Vickers, 17, and London boyband JLS are in with a real chance.
An insider said: “Unless something dramatic happens, like one of the favourites fluffs a performance, it’s a closed book.”
Rachel Hylton, 26, Laura White, 21, and Alexandra Burke, 20, are said to be “mortified” at falling so far behind despite rave reviews by judges, while Ruth Lorenzo, 25, and Daniel Evans, 38, are also stunned.
A TV source said: “This has caused mayhem – the girls, especially, are at each other’s throats.
“The house has been a nasty place to be this week.”
Cheryl Cole’s act Laura has been hit hardest as she had believed she was in with a real chance after Simon Cowell, 49, told her she is “world class”.
An X Factor spokesman denied the results have been leaked, insisting: “Not even Simon Cowell gets to see who is getting the most votes.”
