YELLING… NO WONDER DIANA'S LOST VOICEX FACTOR bosses have been accused of “fixing” the show to save favourite Diana Vickers.

Viewers were incensed that the 17-year-old singer was given a “bye” to next week after going down with laryngitis.

But, despite apparently losing her voice, the teenage diva was spotted screaming at a fireworks bash when she was too ill to sing.

Fans, who are already fuming at the shock exit of Laura White, have flooded websites and forums with protests about the special “star” treatment given to Diana.

Meanwhile, more than 27,000 people have now signed two petitions to get 21-year-old Laura re-instated.

Last night fans turned their anger on the non-appearance of Diana, from Accrington, Lancs, after viewers were told she was “seriously ill”.

A top doctor said that if she sang, she risked causing permanent damage to her vocal cords. But fans are enraged by footage of her at the bonfire party – shown on The Xtra Factor on ITV2 after Laura, 21, was axed.

Diana was seen screaming at the top of her voice, eating a toffee apple, smiling, laughing and even jumping up and down at the party on Wednesday, a day before she fell ill.

The blonde, who is mentored by Cheryl Cole, 25, also did not wear a scarf or cover her neck, which may have helped protect her throat in the cold weather. On Saturday, wannabes sang hits by Mariah Carey, 38, a style which fans claim student Diana would have had trouble with.

Fan Isabel said: “Conveniently, it meant that she didn’t have to sing a Mariah song, which she could struggle with.

“Laura is an excellent singer, but Diana is the ‘chosen one’.”

Gary Toulson, 40, a baker from Gravesend in Kent said: “When she became ‘ill’ all of a sudden, it just seemed a bit convenient.

“Then they showed a video of her laughing and joking and shouting at a firework display.”

Michelle Astley, 33, Acle Bridge, Norfolk, stormed: “I’m really angry because I feel as though I’ve been conned. Everyone is understanding if Diana really is ill, but then we see her screaming her head off.”

Diana even missed a mentoring session with Mariah, who told the other hopefuls that people suffering from laryngitis cannot talk, let alone sing.

Last night an X Factor spokesman said: “Diana was feeling ill all last week, but took the decision that she was well enough to go to the fireworks.

“On Thursday, her condition deteriorated. On Saturday, she went to a specialist who diagnosed severe laryngitis.

“All the contestants were fully behind the decision to give her a bye.”

Last night it was revealed Diana is making a full recovery and should take part in this week’s show, which has a Best of British theme.

Her dad Eddie said: “Diana is a lot better. She has had two or three days of rest with her voice on the advice of doctors.”

But an internet campaign has been launched to get Diana voted off.

Lmao, an internet campaign has been launched to get Diana voted off, what a joke, this isn't Big Brother, some people are so sad, she wont be voted off anyway. And how nasty, running a campaign to get someone voted off.

I made the point, in another post, that she was doing a lot of talking for someone with Laryngitis.

I dont doubt that she had a throat problem I just question how bad it actually was.

What gets me is someone telling fibs.

Didn't they say couldn't even practice the song and here she is yelling on bonfire night?

I know she didn't have it full force on bonfire night - but laryngitis doesn't suddenly appear, it has a build up of a couple of weeks at least - by bonfire night she wouldn't of been able to get past the phlegm to even speak nevermind scream.

exactly what i have been saying laryingitus leaves you unable to talk at all yet she was talking fine on her vt and she is hardly gonna be fit for this weekend if that is indeed what she had cos it wipes you out and your left with a croaky almost not there voice for a good 2-3 weeks after it

She did had a croaky voice in her VT, and looked like death, you could clearly hear her voice wasn't right. Maybe is has been buliding up, and she thought she was just getting a normal sore throat. If it wasn't as bad as they said I blame the X Factor people, not Diana, as we know they always have to be so dramatical anyway, with anything.

The article has included false information!
THe bonfire was on SUNDAY, not on WEDNESDAY, therefore it is perfectly plausible for her to get ill between the two dates.

Lmao with respect, not all cases of laryngitis have a time limit. Some stay for longer, some can clear up as quick as anything =\

And her voice was way croaky. I don't get how people are doubting her lmao it's pathetic.

Not as quick as hers as.
I'm not denying she had a throat infection of kinds, but she got a lucky break when they said it was laryngitis.

The fact they said it was chronic means that she cannot have her voice back already. Or be able to speak, even.
It's an inflammation of the larynx which means that it's damaged in severe cases - which takes weeks AT LEAST to clear up, often times it's months.

Had they said it was mild laryngitis, then it'd only be starting to clear up now, but even then she wouldn't be able to sing without danger.

Like I said; I'm not denying she had a throat infection, but it most certainly wasn't laryngitis.

me best mate has laryingitus, and at first she thought it was a normal sore throat, I spoke to her on the phone, well tried because she could hardly talk, in fact it was very funny because she sounded so funny on the phone lol, anyway, you could hear Diana couldn't even talk properly, so how some people exceptted her to sing is beyound me, but I luv the way these people are experts in throat infections.

If it was a bad infection then it would have been extremely painful for her to swallow thus creating alot of phlegm. She would have been barely able to speak never mind shout and scream.

As I said before I don’t deny she had an infection I just don’t think it was anywhere near as bad as they claimed.

Lauren

He didn't "lie" persay, as all he did was say that if it was laryngitis she'd put her voice in danger by singing - it was the producers/executives that then decided they didn't want to 'take the risk' and so assumed it must be laryngitis. It's in the producers interests for her to have not been able to sing that week.

I'm in no way saying this has anything to do with Diana, or it's her fault or anything. It shouldn't have to affect her/her number of votes - so I think it'd be unfair for people to vote her out just because of this.

They said it was chronic laryngitis though, which means the larynx become inflamed. Infections take weeks to develop, which means the larynx would have been over-producing phlegm weeks before it took hold. She wouldn't have been able to speak.

Well not according to the local paper:

Sparks fly for X Factor contestantsStars from the X Factor watched a Kings Langley fireworks display last night in a break from rehearsing for the hit ITV show.

Click here to see our footage including an exclusive chat with London-based singer Alexandra Burke, where she talks about her performances at Hemel Hempstead venues.

The young star also revealed that the Kings Langley display was the first bonfire night she had ever been to!

School children watching the display at Rudolf Steiner School on Wednesday night rushed to take photos of the singers when they turned up to watch the fireworks.

Alexandra was joined by Eoghan Quigg, Diana Vickers, Laura White and boyband JLS.

The talented bunch were followed by an ITV2 film crew who shot scenes for the Xtra Factor show.

Because if she only had a throat infection, then she'd have been able to sing without long-term damage (albeit very badly). They'd have worried that she'd have sung badly and the public would've voted her out. (They'd not want to risk a favourite contestant).

So if they say she has laryngitis then she couldn't have sung anyway as it would cause long-term damage.

I agree with the comment that Diana is the chosen one of this series. I think she's going to win no matter what she or the other contestants do thus if she'd have come out and sung badly and still got through, it would have seemed a bit fishy.

The Daily Mirror has this story on it's front page too.........there is no doubt that if diana had just stood and mimed on saturday, she would have still got VOTED through. Just wonder though.......a) if somebody developed a 'throat' at the Semi Final stage, would THEY get a bye to the final?... And b) when ruth had her sore throat the week before, had she been allowed to take a sickie would there have been uproar from rachel and austin fans saying they shouldn't have been in the bottom 2?

Diana made it her own. I can see both of them singng it. That song does not need a good singer.

As for making it her own. I have to disagree. If anything it was a carbon copy vocal of a song that's not all that hard to sing anyway.

The people who compile the clips for the show really pick some peachy ones; on Saturday's show they chose a summary clip for Rachel's performance that was extremely off key and sounded like wailing, and for the Diana VT showing her performance of Call Me they picked one of her screeching.

I love whoever compiles those clips.
