What's your views on PETA?
To those who don't know PETA's a huge animal rights orginisation.
I personally don't like them, to me they come off as quite pathetic because of how they target celebrities and all comments they make are so bitchy. Like most recently they've started on Gwyneth Paltrow by saying that her kids wouldn't be proud of her for advertising fur. I think that's really low bringing anyone's children into it. To me they never seem to accomplish anything except annoying people with bitchy comments and pointless attacks on celebrities.
They may attempt to take up a noble cause but they cheapen their goals by acting so badly I think.
What's your opinion?

I think the good weights out the bad. They shouldn't bring someones children in an argument, thats just disrespectful. But besides that they were trying to save animals lives and educate people about animal cruelty.

I support them. I don't necessarily support their methods but I've donated quite a bit of money to them in the past.

I don't like PETA. Instead of talking about the issues, they just rally in celebrities and try to get as much press as they can.

I agree with what they stand for, but I don't even slightly agree with the way that they go about getting their messages around

What's your opinions on this group? For those who Don't know PETA is one of the biggest animals rights protester's group in the world. They usually use celebrities or target them in adverts and such.
I REALLY dislike them, their message gets lost in their methods i find. It annoys me when you see stories about them attacking a celebrity with flour (I.E Lindsay Lohan) It just makes me think 'why should we listen to you? When all you can do is immature pranks?'
I also dislike their use of celebrities and their bitchy nature, it makes them sound like schoolgirls.
I love animals don't get me wrong I've had loads of pets and have loved them all and I'm not against animal rights but PETA does nothing but cheapen the cause I find.
EDIT: Ignore this, I just realised I did this exact thread like 3 months ago. :puzzled:

Are you a vegan? If not, then:
1) You don't love animals.
2) You are against animal rights because you are doing things to cause cruelty to animals.

Yeh half them people just want to cause a riot! If you believe in something you should go about stating your case and debating it in a civilised manner! Not causing a stir that gets you nowhere

Would you rather us test on humans? I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a shot at living for a long time.
PETA will do psychical harm to people. They are an evil organization. The very least they will do to people is bomb them with flour sacks.

PETA is an amazing cause, but the people behind it are just idiots. I read Samantha Ronson's blog a couple of weeks ago about when Lindsay got floured, and what she said is completely true.
PETA should focus their efforts on educating people on what they believe are injustices instead of seeking press via harassing those in the limelight. I received an apology too many days late from the PETA folks (the blog removal was too little too late) and today I'm pissed at the bag of flour thrown on Lindsay last night. Not because I got powdered down, but because the girl who threw it acted like an animal herself. I take that back, it's an insult to animals to group her in with them, my dog is FAR more civilized than that person. I would have more respect for them if they didn't use other people to get their point across. Lindsay, Mary Kate, Ashley Olsen, Anna Wintour and the rest of the targeted celebrities aren't the problem, I'm pretty sure they're not the only ones wearing fur, in fact, they should be appreciated by PETA for giving them a target. If it weren't for them, who would get them press?????
There cause is to protect animals yet they act like animals themselves to get this across?

Sorry ... again...,why are PETA a "terrorist organization"? Because they floured someone?.. and as they did it they "acted like an animal" .... WHAT?!?!
PS
over use the word "terrorist" and it starts to lose it's meaning.

Who are you to say whether I love animals or not? I love my dog but that means I can't because I eat meat? You don't know me so don't dare pass judgement on me.

*sigh* This old game again.
If I say yes, you'll say that I'm a hypocrite for thinking it's wrong to torture, confine, beat, abuse, and murder animals but okay to love them, feed them, and care for them.
If I say no, you'll say that I'm a hypocrite because if I truly loved animals myself I would have one, or that I can't understand what it's like to have one since I don't.
So, since it's clear I lose either way, I'm not going to answer. Just pick whichever answer is most convenient for you and make your point.

I'm a strict vegetarian and have tried to influence friends into becoming vegetarian through a few shocking videos and good points and succeeded, but I do think PETA can take it a bit far.

i wasn't going to say either of these things. i just find it interesting to hear people who support PETA wholeheartedly's views on keeping pets and have been ever since I found out that they were very against it.
I was a vegan for 3 years and then a vegetarian because I wasn't getting hardly any proper nutrition from my diet, and then I realised after a year of being a vegetarian that it was stupid to not eat meat but still bi-products, because as far as im concerned it's hypocritical, so I'm now one of those ****ing irritating people who doesn't eat meat regularly purely because the idea of it sickens me. I'm kinda OK if it's hidden and I don't think about it, but the idea of eating a slab of flesh from something that was once alive and died to be on my plate makes me feel genuinely sick.
if i'm eating at someone else's house i'll tell them I'm a vegetarian though, stops huge problems

what I cant understand is why SOME veggies insist on a veggie burger??
why do they want thier food looking like the stuff they object so much to?
Do they also ask fruit and veg sellers to cut up a colliflower into chicken leg shapes?
Personally, as a proud and happy meat eater I could never ever see the sense in asking for a fruit salad made up in such a way it looks like keebab, I'd expect the waiter to say "are you mad"?
Salads are nice but only if ever your meeting a rabbitt and a tortoise for lunch :laugh2:

hehe..
didn't they use to throw buckets of blood on fur covered fashionistas?.... covering a Paris Hilton wannabe skank with a powdered wheat product is letting her off lightly!
I'm all for big juicy steaks but killing endangered species for a nasty jacket that you saw at a Milan catwalk is pretty much deserving of some flour being thrown at you ...

I think when it comes to vegans there is no right or wrong answer. We're designed to be omnivores although we can sub either vegetation or meat with supplements and such. I don't think it's right for either side to try to influence each other, if someone takes protein supplements or eats tofu, deal with it if someone eats meat deal with it.
I think sometimes PETA is right in it's cause (for example animal testing cosmetics or the murder of endangered animals for clothes) but they turn themselves into a huge joke by throwing things at celebrities to grab headlines. Would you listen to someone trying to change your perspective on something after hearing they go around throwing animal blood at people? You wouldn't you'd think they were either extremely childish or somewhat deranged.
PETA's got a good message at times but they're ultimately a parody of the cause they strive for.
Scarlett.

I support what PETA stand for and everything, but they really need to stop looking at everything in the media and then kicking up a fuss when they find something that remotely involves animals (I mean come on...they had a go a bloody Cooking Mama cause it involved cooking an animal!!!)

I was quite indifferent towards PETA until they petitioned for Ben & Jerry to use human milk to make the ice cream. Now I see them as tools for the most part.
