Big Brother: Dan - 'I am looking forward to getting back to Hull and seeing my friends and my band'
AFTER 10 weeks cooped up in the Big Brother house, our Dan is about to embark on the most crucial time of his career.
He has the showbiz world at his feet, reporters lining up to interview him and the chance to make his dreams of long-lasting fame a reality.
But last night, just hours after his eviction, there was something more important on his mind of the loveable housemate - having a pint in his local.
Speaking to the Mail in the Elstree Studios, the 30-year-old said: "What do I want to do now? Have a Hoegarden in Pave."
Dan was amazed to hear of the support he had from the city and says he is already looking forward to heading back up north.
The hairdresser has been away for 12 weeks since producers Endemol UK whisked him into hiding before the start of the fly-on-the-wall show.
He has been haunted by a fear of becoming a figure of fun in his home city, prompting him to threaten to walk out of the house.
But after hearing about his home fans, Dan was ecstatic.
"Am I looking forward to going back?" he said.
"Well, I am now. I cannot wait. Hull is a beautiful city.
"It is my home town and my roots. I am looking forward to seeing all my friends and my band."
The loveable housemate was shocked by the emotion of the experience as he tried to relax with mum Jenny Bryan, 56, brother Christian, 28, and real-life housemate Gill Adams, 43, at the after-show party.
He had been reunited with them backstage and was still stunned after his glorious chorus of cheers from the crowd.
"I am taking it all in still," confided Dan. "It's all a lot to deal with."
Always one to go out with a bang, Dan had won over the adoring masses with his dramatic exit.
He leaned on the doors wearing his trilby hat and his head bowed in a Madonna-esque dance pose as the doors opened and unveiled him to a rapturous reception.
"I had thought of it a couple of days earlier," admitted Dan. "I had been working on it. I like to put on a bit of a show."
Watching him, Christian said: "He has done so well. I'm glad he's out here now and okay.
"He seems just the same, but just a bit over-excited."
Dan became even more excited when he heard about being on the front page of the Mail today.
"The Mail is my favourite newspaper," he said.
"I've always wanted to be on the front page."
With the show now over, Dan is already going to be making decisions about his future.
Although his passion lies with music, he was also intrigued that Ladbrokes was taking bets on having his own talk show.
"I can try my hand at anything," he said. "Not all well, but I can try."
He laughed at the idea of having a show with Nadia Almada and was unsure when asked by other reporters if he saw a similarity between himself and Dale Winton.
In a embarrassed voice Dan answered: "No, actually."
Dan was also slightly embarrassed when probed about his relationships in the house.
He denied fancying anyone.
"Stuart is too much like your little brother to fancy," he said. "I didn't fancy Jason either. There are straight guys who flirt with me because they think I am safe."
Jason Cowan also denied liking our Dan, despite regularly asking the hairdresser to rub him down with fake tan.
The trainee air steward claimed it was a tactic so Dan would not nominate him for eviction.
Dan was also happy that his fears about being laughed at for trying to be a celebrity do not look likely to come true.
He claimed the reaction of Hull people was one of the main reasons he said he did not want to win.
"It's the northern attitude," he said. "They like you to do so well but not too well. They don't like a show off.
"They would have been 'who's that guy with the hat?' I thought I would be facing a lynch mob.
"It's an image thing.
"I didn't want to be outcast by my home town."
Surrounded by his beaming mum and friends and having heard about how much the local media is behind him, Dan is now confident he can return a hero.
"Everyone has been great," he said.
"It has all been amazing."
