Ten weeks of sitting around in the Big Brother house have finally ended for Dan Bryan. Now the hard work of capitalising on his new-found fame begins. Jessica Boulton reports

Big Brother: As our man capitalises on his time spent in

the limelight, real-life housemate tells of his true feelings

A TASTE OF HOME

THE programme may have ended, but Big Brother fever is still simmering away across the nation.

For some of this year's housemates, it will be just a matter of months before they fade back into relative obscurity.

But for Hull's Dan Bryan, the future looks very bright.

He is in talks with a leading showbusiness agent and is reported to have received a stack of offers from television companies.

But while Dan, who came third in last Friday's final, contemplates a starry future, his friends have confided he secretly pines to return to his normal life and plans a flying visit to the city this weekend.

"He is enjoying himself but he really is missing Hull," said real-life housemate Gill Adams, 43.

"He leant over to me at the after-show party and said he wanted to come home. I better clear out all the stuff I put in his room."

Dan's mum Jenny, 56, has been waiting to welcome him home since the housemates were taken into hiding by the show's producers 12 weeks ago, ahead of the Big Brother launch.

But she is aware it could be a while before he visits the family home in Cottingham.

"He has a very, very busy time ahead," said Jenny.

"I spoke to him on Saturday and he had hardly had any sleep. They got to bed at 4am and were up by 7am preparing for the press."

Dan is being looked after by the Outside Agency, which helps set up housemates in their first few weeks back in the real world.

Over the weekend, his personal agent James Williamson helped Dan negotiate a deal with the News of the World worth thousands of pounds. Yesterday, Dan was back in the house with his fellow 12 housemates for a reunion barbecue hosted by presenter and Dan fan Dermot O'Leary.

In the months to come, there will be a series of shows following some of the housemates in their time after leaving the house.

Dan's agent is confident he will soon move on to his own work - especially if he signs up with the mystery showbusiness agent he has been having talks with.

"I can confirm Dan is busy and will be very busy all week," said Mr Williamson.

"A lot of offers are coming through and we are expecting more throughout the week."

Playwright Gill is thrilled for her housemate, but hopes he won't forget his earlier promises to her.

"He has promised to be in a rock musical I am writing for him," she said.

"We started talking about the idea last February."

She knows, however, that Dan may have enough on his plate.

"Dan knows he is going to be set up for life, thanks to Big Brother. It has given him a chance to show his talents. I watched him sign his first autograph." she said. "This is his dream and he has got it."

There have been reports a TV producer wants to give Dan a music show and rumours he may present an episode of Top of the Pops, after comparisons were made between him and Boy George.

However, he told the Mail recently his ambition was to get back to Hull to record the vocals for a single with his band iceHouse.

That's good news for band member Rob Law, who is waiting to talk to Dan about what comes next.

"I'm sure he has got lots of ideas for us," said Rob, 32. "But he must do whatever he chooses."

While the whirlwind of press interest is good news for Dan, it will mean him having even less time to spend with his family.

Dan missed his mum's birthday while in the house and is hoping for an opportunity to catch up with his loved ones.

"I've found the whole experience with TV and the press quite draining at times," said Jenny.

"But I have wanted to support him with all my heart. It was quite sad when I couldn't chat to him on my birthday, but it was hardest when I thought he was going through a hard time in the house because of the conflict."

Jenny was waiting for Dan with the new Kylie Minogue DVD as a present on Friday night.

"It was brilliant," she said. "We had an Absolutely Fabulous-style reunion.

"I went, 'Let me poke you and make sure you are real' and he lifted his arms and said, 'Of course, darling'."

Jenny and Gill are confident Dan will stay in touch with his roots.

"Dan will always keep in touch," said Jenny. "And wherever he goes, my heart is always with him."

Gill said: "We both feel a little strange, now we are sharing him with the whole country. But we are both so proud. I have to let him fly."
