View Full Version : Diana should dance, says Friedman

Diana should dance, says FriedmanThe X Factor choreographer Brian Friedman is frustrated that Diana Vickers hasn't danced yet in the show, and thinks it could lose her votes.
Brian worked out a big dance number for Diana but her mentor Cheryl Cole switched the song at the last minute.
"When Diana did Yellow she was actually supposed to be doing the All Saints song Never Ever but it was switched.

It seems the little miss knows her weaknesses and is playing to them. She is the only contestant to not put on any kind of show so far yet she’s still getting the praise of the judges. I'd like to see her diversify more and show she's not a limited as I think.
Intriguing to see she was supposed to do Never Ever. She'd have murdered that.

25-11-2008, 11:57 AM
As far as I am concerned, she couldnt have murdered it worst than yellow.
But dancing wise, I really dont see the problem. It is a singing competition after all. Leona Lewis wasnt exactly the dancing type. She hardly done it when she won! She can sing without dancing if she is comfortable with that! I am more concern about her singing without making my ears bleed!
If anything not dancing will add votes. The choreography is awful and Brian must go ASAP

Dont come out and say something completely untrue like that. Alex, forst song was I want to dance with somebody, she danced throughout the song. Candyman she danced throughout the song, and last week was a huge dance routine even with extras. I dont really think anyone should have to dance, but give credit where credit is due for god sakes!

She didnt dance anything. SHe sat down stood up for 10 seconds and sat down again! Fair enough, I dont care if she doesnt want to dance as long as she sings well, but dont go making stuff up: She didnt dance at all, we all have eyes!

Yeah you are talking rubbish, you can close your eyes and make daft statements all you like, the fact is, she danced, she had a dance choreography on candyman, its called dancing. Again, youre the one who brought her name up. One of the rare acts who always have a dance routine, so yes, you were talking craap!!!

I dont need to watch it again, I have a good enough memory. She strolled on stage, sat down, she stood up for 10 seconds waved her hand to her face, and sat down again. Never danced!!!! 0 dancing.
She moves her hips on both her last 2 performances, thats not dancing! Even Louis criticized her for not dancing on call me, and no one denied it!

Yes thats right, Diana wasnt dancing. In fact she spent 90% of the time sitting! If you wanted make the point that Diana get singled out all the time, or its not a dancing competiton, you shouldve said so, and not mentioned Alex in the same group as an non dancing act. Thats fair enough! Thats what I said in my first post. She can dance if she feels it would make her performance better, but maybe she isnt comfortable dancing and singing at the same time. Not everyone is. BUt this is not star academy so she is not required to dance. I personally wouldnt try to force her to if its not in her nature.

Alex has danced more than she hasn't! Don't forget disco week as well. Thats 4 out of 7, plus shes moved about the stage in all of her performances unlike Diana who seems to be super glued to the one spot apart from that week where she walked from the judges desk to the doors

Dance or not, I am not really bothered, I will enjoy her performance whatever. The hand thing can annoy me, but I think that's just her style and what she feels comfortable doing. She does move about on stage though (not dancing).

From the article:
"I just don't get what all the fuss is about. Firstly she doesn't annunciate when she is singing so it sounds like one big rambling sentence. Secondly the 'quirky and original' thing is just plain strange. If being quirky and original means looking like you haven't brushed your hair for 5 years and have been dragged through a bush backwards then I would rather be boring and ordinary. Thirdly, does the girl not own a pair of shoes?! I mean what the ****** statement is she trying to make by coming out barefoot every week? Beyond me! And of course, last but not least I am going to make it my mission to travel down to London and cut off her ****ing left hand if she does not stop touching her face with it. Yes, you have a hand, yes you have a face but you don't need to caress it every week."

Dancing on the spot, which is what Alex did in Candyman, is having a hand routine and only using the hands and body to make "dancing on the spot" and Alex did a lot with her hands in Candyman so really she did dance in Candyman, just on the spot

She one dimensional and can only sing in one style.
She has limited career potential because she isn't adaptable.
She is like marmite people either love her or hate her giving her limited market share.
She won't (can't) Dance.
She waves her left hand in front of her face annoyingly.
She doesn't own a pair of shoes she not ashamed of that she could use on the stage.
She is too young to have experienced life and write meaningful music at the moment.
The Positives:
She is liked by the judges who big her up.
She looks cute, cuddly and innocent with her big eyes.
She sounds different from any thing else on the X-Factor this year.
She has fans that will vote for even when she is rubbish and the worse act of the night.

Well he didn't win in the end
So who knows I just might be right again. There are similarities between the two of them in terms of them being one dimensional and only being able to sing in one style.
But there is one big difference Rhydian could sing a pure note!
I wish him luck. now he is doing Opera I'm happy. He is good at that. He just wasn't the X-Factor material.

dancing doesn't sell records. And neither will she.
I beg to differ, Songstresses are very popular now in the music industry I can see her doing very well especially if she sticks to the same style of her auditions.
but she has gone miles away from how she was in auditions there wasnt no yodelling or jazz hands then
But there was. Sure, she didnt have the squeak in her voice, but if you listen to her bootcamp stuff, you it sounds the same, oh and the hands are still there.
Diana doesn't top every poll on the internet
her style is completely different now to what it was. i liked her in the auditions but i can't stand her now because shes become a parody of herself

How the fudge do know she can't dance? and so what if she can't, does Leona dance, no, does Duffy does, no!.
And why is it some people on here can't understand that her fans luv her and vote for her, just because you dislikers say she is the worse act and rubbish on the night doesn't make it true, it's called your opinon! IMO Yellow was her only poor performances, I luv Diana I want her to win I will be voting for her end of!

And there lies the problem with the X-Factor, it's not a talent show but a popularity contest.
It doesn't matter how bad you are on a particular show, your fans will always vote for you.
It's the "John Sergeant virus" and it will infect everything and kill off the format.

IMO, She had ONE bad performances, just because you think she has had more doesn't mean we all have to agree with you, X Factor stop being about talent years ago, I don't knwo why some people keep saying that, it's boring now. Diana has been my fav from day same as Alex, I am voting for them, and them only I don't like JLS, Eoghan or Ruth, so therefore I will not vote for them, why is that so hard to understand for some people. Why do all us Diana fans have to agree with all you Diana dislikers, we get it, you don't like her! doesn't mean we have to as well.

One of the big problems with the "popularity" aspect of it is the fickle nature of the viewers. While they'll happily vote each week for a certain contestant, they won't actually follow that up once they get signed, effectively making the winner unsuccessful.

Umm, Diana CAN dance, considering she is a trained ballet and tap dancer, but whatever, don't let good old fashioned facts get in the way of hate.

She could be more successful people didn't download her stuff, but that aside, she was consistent week in and week out.

Someone didn't listen to her first 2 performances then.
We are never going to agree if Diana is good or not, because some people like the quirks of her voice, others don't.

Leona was the exception to the rule. Have any of the other winners of these type of shows been as successful? Leona is the only one.

There were okay for the start of the show, Leona lacked confidence, still does sometimes you see it interviews, but her voice was as good. And nearly anyone is bound to improve as the show goes on, just from the voice coaching alone.
Back to Diana, at the start of the show I really liked her, it was like a breath of fresh air had been injected into the X-Factor, but as the show went on I have grown tired of her squeaky voice and her stupid left hand. The air freshness has turned in the smell of the swear, it's unpleasant and leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.

Leona got better in time (what a pun) meanwhile Diana started off strongly but has gotten progressively worse. Yellow was the low point, Patience was a slight improvement but she was back to full health (miraculous recovery from laryngitis...) so there is absolutely no excuse to be singing that poorly so late in the competition.
