According to someone on DS, she is doing Everytime by Britney. Her American song is still to be confirmed.

Another perfect song choice for Diana, just her and one instrument. Its really starting to rile me that this girl is going to win the contest. She has no range, no versatility and no power. X-Factor this year is a joke.

Well..... those that do something challenging and break down the safe walls either are amazing and pull of a cracker or flop. Maybe her mentor doesnt want to challenge her and risk it

True. Why risk it when she can get wild praise from the judges for doing the same thing every week.

Hopefully she'll have the piano on stage with her- when an act has the piano on stage they end up in the bottom 2 that night, or they go.
I'd like Diana to take a huge risk and do something completely unexpected.

Cheryl's got to make a mistake at some point. She's been too good a mentor up till now.

Yeah but thats what makes her an individual.. others in that competition are to me copies of other bands/artists that have been or are still in the music busy.. diana is unique which is why she is favourite to win :)

I didn't say she wasn't talented.. she's very talented in my eyes (and clearly a whole bunch of other people seeing as she's favourite) I know what you mean when you say she has no versatility but your going to have to look back on other finalists/winners of this competition like Leona who wasn't very versatile, same with Ray that year. Alex Parks is the only person I can somewhat relate Diana to in terms of singing reality tv shows, and she had character and a unique voice :) I wouldn't mind if Alexandra won if Diana didn't... but I feel like we've already got someone like Alexandra on the scene at the moment in the form of Leona - who is better :spin2:
Oh and.. relating to this thread I think that spoiler could be right and would be a wise choice  look forward to the rest of the perfomances, love to know what JLS and Eoghan are doing!

I dont like people comparing Leona and Alexandra because I dont think they are as similar as people say. Both are talented and both have a place in the music business. I hope alex does win simply because I think she's the best all round simger still left in the contest.

If you don't have a powerful voice then to last in the industry its all about versatility and reinvention. If you can't do that then you have no future.

Yeah agreed she is an all round singer and I wouldn't mind her winning she's got personality as well as a good voice, this year's X factor has to be more tight nearer the end than any other series so far. Excited for the next few weeks!
And you never know Ruth could maybe win :laugh2: aww I like her

Why is it that people seem to look for reasons to hate on Diana? You say she's boring and predictable but she's the only unique one there really apart from Ruth. JLS are a smartprice Boys 2 Men, Alexandra will end up a version of Leona Lewis and Beyonce but with a lot less success, Eoghan will make one album and disapear...Diana's probably one of the most unique talents ever on X Factor, shame she can't be appreciated for it since the vast majority of X factor viewers think Talent requires someone to sing through a machine...

Once again she's picked a slow song with just one instruemnt. Theres definitely a pattern forming here. Mind you, judging by last weeks performance as many as two instruments would drown out her weak vocals.

Didn't Leona always sing slow songs? a part from Could This Be Magic? I remember Louis kept monaing about it. Anyway who cares if she has picked a slow song? let's be honest here, what ever song she would of picked some of you wouldn't be happy.

She's sticking to her strengths, do you see many rappers bursting out into power ballads? Many Divas doing rock? Diana's an indie songstress type singer similar to Katie Melua (mainstream example) and Laura Marling. You wouldn't see Katie Melua doing a disco dancing number now would you?

Those are establisehd artists who have found their niche in the market. This is a singing contest and, for me, to be a good singer she needs to sing a variety of songs in a variety of styles. By saying she sticking to her strengths you're as good as admitting she has many weaknesses.

You say that like it's an insult? Do you expect her to do a different song every week? Cos her album isn;t going to be a collection of different styles is it? So why should it be now?

errr... maybe to show her versatility? All the other acts are managing a different style of song every week, and Alex was slated in the beginning for making obvious choices. I don't see why it's so different with Diana. Surely doing different genres is the whole point of having a different theme every week

Umm no, it's a singing contest, therefore she should prove she has what it takes to be a recording artist. Since when did that mean being able to sing every single genre imaginable? Oh wait it doesn't.

The most famous Artists in the world can only sing the type of songs they sing, for example, could you see Celion D singing an Opera song? or a heavy mental song? no.

I don't mean total different genres, but different styles at least. Fair enough she wants to stick to what she knows but it's just dull for her imo. I think she'd get more votes if she tried something different, because even if it wasn't as "good" as normal, people would think "oh wow, diana just tried a different style, good on her". A lot of people praised her in Disco Week because she tried something different, and it wasn't half as bad as a lot of people expected it to be.

I thought her first performance was OK but since then I find my self puzzled at all you guys going bonkers over her. I couldn't see it. I looked and looked and looked and I still couldnt see it and I reckon I can spot a good singer when I see/hear one. Meanwhile, Alex was putting in some fine performance but I didnt see anywhere near the level of hysteria. I dont like hype, I dont like constant praise with no criticism and thus I thought it my duty to try and redress the balance. Thats what its about.

that's not what I'm saying. Ruth does a lot better with heavier songs, but you still see her doing ballads, so I don't see why Diana can't experiment a bit more, she just seems to go for a safe song for her style every week

Once again she's picked a slow song with just one instruemnt. Theres definitely a pattern forming here. Mind you, judging by last weeks performance as many as two instruments would drown out her weak vocals.
If the whole point in themes was to do different genres, then don't you think that each theme would be a different genre?
I don't mean total different genres, but different styles at least. Fair enough she wants to stick to what she knows but it's just dull for her imo. I think she'd get more votes if she tried something different, because even if it wasn't as "good" as normal, people would think "oh wow, diana just tried a different style, good on her". A lot of people praised her in Disco Week because she tried something different, and it wasn't half as bad as a lot of people expected it to be.
Why would she do different styles when she knows they aren't going to work? For example, the past two themes have been Take That and Best of British. Why would she pick 2 songs that DON'T fit her style, over ones that do? It makes no sense at all.

I actually agree with the criticism bit. Diana needs critcism because she isn't perfect like the judges are making out, but it really does look like you try to find things to dislike about her :\ Every time your in the XF forum it is just to slate Diana, or at least it comes across that way.

But htat's the thing, just because you think that it doesn't mean we are all going to think that, I think you need to realise some people like her, some people want her to win, like or not, a few backs I said Alex and Rachel were by far the best on the night. I luv Diana, I want her to win, I will be voting for her she is me fav, it's simple really.

Umm no, it's a singing contest, therefore she should prove she has what it takes to be a recording artist. Since when did that mean being able to sing every single genre imaginable? Oh wait it doesn't. Let me enlighten you on somethng because you dont seem to be getting it. In a competition you have to compete. In a singng competition you have to be able to sing. end of. Not sing rock that would be a rock singing contest. Not sing blues cuz that would be a blues singing contest. Do you get it now?
X-factor has no genre boundaries thus I think its not too much to ask for the winner to have some kind of versatility.

Because she might make people respect her a bit more, and perhaps to practice keeping that army of fans interested when she starts to bore them, and is no longer so "original and quirky".

At the end of the day if Diana brings out an Ablum it will have songs on there that she is comfortable with, they have to sing what they are comfortable with, it's like JLS the other week asinging Beatles, even Dannii said that wouldn't be on their Ablum.

..Yeah, but they took a risk - it failed, but that's what taking risks is about. It makes their fans more protective of their act, because they sense that they are in danger and are more inclined to vote to save them; the whole vulnerability thing.
Whereas Diana is easily drowned out by the backing music, she sings in an acquired singing style that is evidently damaging her health, she's really pushed the boundaries of the themes given to her (Call Me in Disco Week? Only because it was brought out in that period of time, it's hardly a disco song) but at least she rose to the challenge and actually performed a song that nobody thought she'd pull off well. Well done to her for that. But since then she's sung badly but been praised by the judges for it, and bar times when she's HAD to change her style (Disco Week and Big Band week) she's sung the same style of songs - she's not taking any unnecessary risks, unlike every other act left in the competition who have sung risky songs and the gamble has or hasn't paid off, it doesn't really matter, they've done it.
Like GiRTh, I just don't want to see her win without A) being told when she's been bad and B) trying something out of her comfort zone. It's clear she's the chosen winner, and I don't disagree with that, I think she's a nice girl and I wouldn't object to her winning, I'd just like to see her try something different before she goes onto produce an album full of songs that are identical to the ones she sung on the X Factor - it'll bore people and she'll have no success beyond one album.

There are some exceptions to the rule, but the exceptions tend to have big voices. But on the whole if you can't reinvent yourself then you won't last very long.

Leona sings "modern ballads", while on the X Factor she sang ballads, flawlessly, no matter whether you liked her or not.
Diana yodels her way through songs with varying degrees of success, and will continue to do so for the rest of her career.
