About Season 7

Set in Washington, DC, "Day 7" opens with CTU dismantled and Jack Bauer on trial. His day takes an unexpected turn when former colleague TONY ALMEIDA (Carlos Bernard) returns. Meanwhile, newly elected President ALLISON TAYLOR (Cherry Jones) leads the country alongside Chief of Staff ETHAN KANIN (Bob Gunton) and First Gentleman HENRY TAYLOR (Colm Feore).

A national security crisis prompts an investigation by FBI agents including JANIS GOLD (Janeane Garofalo), RENEE WALKER (Annie Wersching), LARRY MOSS (Jeffrey Nordling) and SEAN HILLINGER (Rhys Coiro). Although CTU is no longer, CHLOE O'BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and BILL BUCHANAN (James Morrison) are back for another momentous day of shocking events.

The following post takes place between 3:03pm and 3:04pm.

I watched the two hour show pre-season 7 show "Redemption". Without spoilers, it set the scene for season 7, and what the storyline holds. A lot of it was in Africa, with great scenery and actors.

It was really impressive, and Bauer kicked ass as usual :cat:

I'll be watching all this series for sure.

Yeah Redemption restored my faith in 24, I thought season 6 was ok, but compared to the first 5 it was weak.

The first fighting scene when the kids were in the shelter was the best part of it.

Mark

I didn't really understand the landmine scene. Surely they could have replaced his weight on the mine? They had a big rucksack, and big heavy weapons and machettes. Surely any attemept would have been better than him sacrificing himself :puzzled:

Locke.

Yeah I think Jack and the kids should have stood a distance away but gave him something to cover it with, but they didn't really have much time so I guess it was for the best.

I've loved this series so far, its had a much better start than season 6 had.

Sutherland denies '24' army influence

Kiefer Sutherland has denied claims that his hit show 24 is to blame for allegedly heavy-handed tactics by US military.

The actor told The Guardian that it is a "big problem" if military personnel cannot distinguish between reality and fiction.

"I'm just going to tell you outright, the problem is not 24," he said.

"To try and correlate from what's happening on a television show to what the military is doing in the real world, I think that's ridiculous. If that's actually happening, then the problem that you have in the US military is massive."

Executive producer of 24 Evan Katz has said that Sutherland's character Jack Bauer may be killed off in the final episode of the show.

Episode 6 is on tonight at 9 on Sky One.

Spoiler from episode 16

It will be interesting to see how they work around Jack's test being positive after being infected by the bio-weapon. Sutherland has said he will be filming season 8 soon, so he won't die, unless he was lying and they plan on ending the show at the end of the season with Jack dying.

Anyway, I've enjoyed this season, much better than Season 6.

Spoiler if you haven't seen the episode that aired in America last night:

They killed my favourite character AGAIN! George was my favourite at the start, they killed him. David Palmer then turned into my favourite with Tony a close second, they killed them both. Mike Doyle was my favourite in season 6, a bomb exploded in his face and he was written out of the show. And Larry was my favourite this season and they killed him  And making Tony bad AGAIN is stupid.

Yeah Renee called Kim to get her to do the op for Jack. No explanation for Tony, he just killed Larry then it ended. Jack isn't happy with renee for calling Kim, so nothing happening there yet. And I can't remember the presidents daughter even being in the episode.

I'm glad Kim is doing the OP I was afraid Jack would just leave it.. but I'm also afraid he might be killed off at the end even though Kiefer said he was doing the 8th season.
I was rooting of Chloe and Jack... but Renee has taken her place.

What?! For God Sake. sometimes Jack really annoys me.
That would make much more sense if they did that.
But if they go by what was said, that once you start showing symtoms then you could be dead within a couple of days, season 8 could be amazing and be the next day... they might not even tie this up, Hodgins may get away with creating the Bio weapons and create another crisis for the FBI.... If only.

24 will return to UK screens beginning Sunday, January 24, 2010, Sky1 has confirmed.

The scheduling means that after its premiere, Day 8 of the Kiefer Sutherland-fronted drama series will air just six days behind US transmission.

"Season 7 and 8…are really connected together," said Sutherland. "The storylines from season 7 really do play all the way through into season 8.

"The setup for [this season] is the most realistic political thing that I think we've ever done since we started the show. This season is more grounded in what possibly could happen. There's a sense of reality that almost brings it back to season 1."

Sky1 is also re-airing 24 Day 7 from Tuesday, December 29 at 8am through to Wednesday, December 30 at 8am.

Kiefer Sutherland has insisted that a film version of 24 is still going ahead.

Speaking on Live with Regis and Kelly, the actor suggested that the movie could begin filming in early 2012.

"There is going to be a 24 movie," he said. "People come up to me and say they love the show. It's funny, because I don't feel like we finished. It's still such a presence in my life."

He also appeared to confirm earlier reports that Top Gun director Tony Scott is considering helming the project.

"We will hopefully start next January and Tony Scott is one of the directors who has expressed great interest in doing it," he said. "I think he would be fantastic. I am really excited to do that."

Sutherland recently signed on to play the lead role in Heroes creator Tim Kring's new Fox pilot Touch.

The final episode of 24 aired on May 24 last year.

EXCLUSIVE: I’m hearing that fans of the Fox series 24 are going to have to continue waiting for the long awaited 24 feature film. 20th Century Fox isn’t going forward with the film this year. It hadn’t been green lit, but it was scheduled to get going in late March, with Kiefer Sutherland jumping into Jack Bauer mode when his new series Touch goes on hiatus in April. The studio was zeroing in on a director–Antoine Fuqua was the most recent conversation I’d heard of–when the decision was made this week to not go forward, at least this year.

There are rumors this came down to budget and that Sutherland is upset because he was sparked up to resume his role as the rough and tumble government operative, who over eight seasons prevented numerous apocalyptic terror attacks. Studio insiders tell me that Fox wasn’t convinced it had enough time to complete the film before Sutherland has to go back to work on Touch‘s second season, and didn’t want to rush and neither did Sutherland. The picture is being produced by Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Sutherland and they have a script written by Billy Ray, and polished by Mark Bomback. It’s ready to go.

The big question is whether Fox will continue working on the film and readying it for Sutherland’s next hiatus. Having been a big fan of the series, I am disappointed. I’ve heard that Ray constructed the script to play out in a three-picture arc. Maybe it was the real-time format, or perhaps the writing and endless cliffhangers, but the twists and turns and intensity created a blood pressure-spiking viewer experience that was unmatched-at least until AMC unveiled The Walking Dead. It seems a natural transition to features, with the potential to turn into a Die Hard-type action franchise.

Giving the picture some hope is Grazer’s inability to take no for an answer. American Gangster was scrapped and then came back together and turned into a memorable crime drama. And Grazer, Ron Howard, Akiva Goldsman and Stephen King are now firming up a deal for The Dark Tower at Warner Bros, which will put the picture on course to begin production in the first quarter of 2013 after Universal last year rejected the ambitious plan to make three movies and two limited run TV series that could land at HBO.

http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/has-the-clock-stopped-ticking-on-24-movie/

Bad news but expected :( The actual film sounds promising though. Good Director, the guy behind Training Day, Shooter and King Arthur. Written by the guy who has wrote The Hunger Games movie (lol), and another who wrote Die Hard 4.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The clock may start ticking again on Fox. I’ve learned that the network is looking to bring back its signature real-time drama 24 as a limited series. Kiefer Sutherland is in talks to reprise his Emmy-winning role as Agent Jack Bauer. No deals are in place, but Fox is eying 24 as part of its recent push in limited event series. Since 24 ended its eight-season run on Fox in 2010, there have been efforts to continue the story as a feature, which ultimately didn’t take off.

I hear the idea to do another 24 chapter on TV came from longtime 24 showrunner Howard Gordon, now executive producer on Showtime’s Homeland. I hear he pitched the plan, which would start from scratch with a new story arc, to 24 producers 20th Century Fox TV and studio-based Imagine TV as well as Fox, which all jumped on board. Gordon will likely executive produce through his 20th TV-based company Teakwood Lane.

In addition to Homeland, Gordon executive produces the newly picked up TNT series Legends and high-profile FX pilot Tyrant, which is being directed by Ang Lee. Sutherland most recently starred on the Fox/20th TV drama Touch, which is being cancelled after two seasons. The original 24 was created by Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran, who executive produced with Gordon, Brian Grazer, Sutherland, Evan Katz and Tony Krantz. At the 2006 Emmys, the show won five Emmys, including best drama series and best actor in a drama series for Sutherland.

Now 100% confirmed:

Just days after Fox canceled Kiefer Sutherland drama Touch, the actor is returning to Fox to reprise his role as Jack Bauer in a 24 limited series.

The continuation of the series -- which spanned 192 episodes and a TV movie from 2001-10 -- will be produced by its former showrunner, Howard Gordon (Homeland). Like the original series, the reboot, dubbed 24: Live Another Day, hails from 20th Television and Imagine TV's Brian Grazer with Gordon's banner Teakwood Lane on board to co-produce. Fox will bow the limited project -- which will tell a 24-hour story over 12 episodes that jump hours -- in May 2014.

"24 compressed over 12 weeks, Jack is back," Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly told reporters early Monday during a conference call ahead of the network's upfront presentation. The executive noted 24 will likely mark Fox's first limited run series with the potential for additional closed-ended stories in the franchise.

The revival of 24 as a limited series comes a year after hopes for a big-screen adaptation fizzled when 20th Century Fox and producer Imagine could not agree on a budget after Suthlerland and producers including Gordon had been committed to doing it for years. In 2011, Gordon told THR that conversations were "definitely happening" to bring 24 to the big-screen.

“It’s something that I think if it doesn’t happen, I will not be heartbroken,” he said at the time. “I’m very proud of that run and how it ended. It was very hard to get it to the finish line with some kind of grace in closure. Why mess it up? But if you find the right story …”

Reilly noted that as 24 producers began crafting the plan for a feature, they all agreed "24 being compressed into two hours isn't 24," with Gordon having a "little light bulb" go off once Fox announced its plan to push into the limited series arena.

"The [event series] franchise is less than six months old and we're getting a who's who of Hollywood in the door to participate in this," Reilly said, noting he'll use the event franchise as a way to bridge the gap between the traditional fall and midseason schedules as the network shifts to program originals year-round.

For Fox, 24 joins Wayward Pines as the network continues its push into the limited "event" series. Matt Dillon starrer Wayward Pines, from M. Night Shyamalan and The Playboy Club's Chad Hodge, was announced early Friday and will bow in 2014.

Mary Lynn Rajskub's Chloe confirmed for '24: Live Another Day'
http://i1.cdnds.net/13/21/618x381/ustv-mary-lynn-rajskub.jpg
Mary Lynn Rajskub will return to 24, it has been confirmed.

The actress will reprise her role of Chloe O'Brian in new limited series 24: Live Another Day, Fox announced at the Television Critics Association press tour.

The 12-part drama - which also sees Kiefer Sutherland back as 24 lead Jack Bauer - is expected to premiere in April 2014, showrunner Howard Gordon recently revealed.

"I am thrilled to be working with Howard and the writers again - and of course, Kiefer," Rajskub said in a statement. "I'm going to start sharpening my computer skills now!"

Rajskub debuted as CTU analyst Chloe in 24's third season and remained with the series until its final regular run in 2010, with her character becoming a fan favourite.

The 42-year-old previously admitted that she had "high hopes" of returning to the part. Beyond Rajskub and Sutherland, no further casting has been announced for Live Another Day

Jack Bauer is crossing the pond for his next adventure!

EW has learned exclusively that production will begin in January for 24: Live Another Day, and the action will take place in the U.K. for another “thrilling international adventure.”

Kiefer Sutherland is already on board to play Bauer, Mary Lynn Rajskub will reprise Chloe, and Howard Gordon is returning to executive produce the reboot that will debut next summer. Jon Cassar — who produced and directed 24 from seasons 2 to 7 on Fox — will also return to executive produce and direct episodes.

“‘24’ has always had such a global sensibility,” said Sutherland in a statement. “But to be able to tell this intense ‘24’-style story with the beauty of Europe’s history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you’re finished watching an episode, you’ll feel like you’ve been there…on the edge of your seat.”

“We wanted the show’s return to be an event, and part of that was putting Jack in a very different context,” added co-showrunner and executive producer Evan Katz in a statement. “Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we’re going to pick him up four years later in London.”

Fox plans to air 12 episodes of 24: Live Another Day as part of its new directive to air event programming in the summer as a way to tie together the regular seasons. Unlike what happened in the regular series — where each episode represented an hour in Bauer’s action-packed life — the new version will jump around during the day.

This makes Jack, Chloe, Audrey, and Heller (:worship:) as returning so far. Heller will be President, I think. One of the writers mentioned on twitter a few weeks ago the President would be a returning character, and he seems to fit.

Stephen Fry cast as the British Primeminister

[Stephen Fry is set to play the British PM in the new series of 24.

The actor and comedian will take on the role of fictional Prime Minister Trevor Davies in the return of the popular US thriller.

His character is said to be a "strong and charismatic man", and will be close friends with US President Heller, played by William Devane.

But the alliance between the two characters will come under pressure due to a political crisis, according to reports from Deadline. ]

'Game of Thrones' Alum Replaces Judy Davis in Fox's '24' Revival

Michelle Fairley will take over the villainous role Davis recently vacated in the Kiefer Sutherland-led update.

24: Live Another Day is getting a Game of Thrones upgrade.

Michelle Fairley is joining the cast of the 24 miniseries, replacing Judy Davis, who dropped out of the project for personal reasons, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Fairley will now play Margot, a British national and widow of a notorious terrorist, the same role Davis, who lives in Australia, was cast in.

Kim Raver, William Devane and Mary Lynn Rajskub are reuniting with star Kiefer Sutherland. Tate Donovan, Yvonne Strahovski, Benjamin Bratt and Michael Wincott are among the new castmembers.

24: Live Another Day takes place in London and follows the further exploits of Jack Bauer (Sutherland), taking up his story four years after the events of 24's final season in 2010. The mini will continue with the series' signature real-time action for each episode.

Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Manny Coto, David Fury, Robert Cochran, Brian Grazer, Jon Cassar and Sutherland are executive producers. Teakwood Lane Productions, 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine TV are the production companies. 24 was created by Joel Surnow and Cochran.

Fairley, best known as Lady Catelyn Stark on Game of Thrones, also recurred on Suits. She is repped by Paradigm and Creative Artists Management in the U.K.

24: Live Another Day, which debuted a gritty teaser during Super Bowl Sunday, premieres with a two-hour launch May 5 at 8 p.m.

Charles Logan >> Nina. Both great though.

I loved the finale. I think it works even if we don't get another season. Jack was smiling about his decision and accepting his fate, he was going out on his own terms and saving someone he loved in the process.

Really great to hear that there is an extra scene on the DVD featuring Tony as well :worship: Makes it sound promising that he will be back if there is another season.

Season 10 confirmed

FOX aired a fairly successful revival of "24" in summer 2014, with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Co. stopping a terrorist plot in London in "24: Live Another Day." During the 2015 FOX upfronts press call, Dana Walden and Gary Newman, chairmen and CEOs of the Fox Television Group, revealed that another edition of "24" is in development.

"We have been developing another version of '24,' but it's still fairly early in the development process," says Newman. "So there just would be nothing we can tell you at this time other than we are working on something."

RELATED: 'Empire' gets fall premiere on FOX, 'Sleepy Hollow' moves

Details are scarce at this time, but perhaps the seed for a new "24" season was planted on the "Live Another Day" Blu-ray/DVD release. A special feature on the discs shows Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) in solitary confinement, offering to spill secrets to the Department of Justice in exchange for release from solitary. The request is denied, but someone plants some secret plans for escape in the lawyer's glasses and in the end, Tony is seen looking at the escape plans.

This new version of "24" would be the action-thriller's 10th season. Seasons 1-8 aired on FOX from fall 2001 to spring 2010. Season 9, "24: Live Another Day," aired four years later, with a time jump built into the universe to match the real-life gap between seasons.
