Peter Kay Christmas at Channel 4
Channel 4 is planning to follow up the massive success of Peter Kay’s Britain’s Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice, with a series of special programmes featuring the comedian during the Christmas season.
The highlight, Britain's Got an Extra Pop Factor and Then Some, is a follow up to Britain’s Got the Pop Factor… and is a retrospective companion piece in the style of The Xtra Factor and It Takes Two. Presented by Ben Shepherd, this one-hour spoof programme features a countdown of the best performances from the series as voted by the ‘viewers’, and exclusive interviews with this year’s winner Geraldine McQueen, as well the chance to hear her new Christmas single Once Upon a Christmas Song. There are more auditions, more music plus a few more surprises.
The season also includes Peter Kay: Raider of the Pop Charts, a two part documentary that reveals the story behind Peter Kay’s numerous chart successes. It takes a unique look behind the scenes of all three of his iconic pop videos, featuring artists such as Texas and The Proclaimers, as well his more recent hit with Geraldine’s The Winner’s Song and her soon-to-be-released Christmas single.
There will also be another chance to see the full-length version of Britain’s Got the Pop Factor… plus a video exclusive on Channel 4 of Geraldine’s Christmas single.
The first transmission of Britain’s Got the Pop Factor… on 12th October attracted Channel 4’s highest ratings of the year, with an average audience of 6.1 million viewers tuning in across the 75-minute programme, peaking at 6.8 million.
It is set to air on Channel 4 on Friday 19th December at 9.00pm. The premiere of the video for Geraldine's Christmas single, Once Upon A Christmas Song, will air on C4 on Friday 12th December at 10.00pm.
