Laura was most 'shocking' because I didn't expect her to be in the bottom 2 in the first place. But the sing-off was edged by Ruth.
Diana wasn't that shocking, once the votes from the previous week had been 'leaked'. And White Flag sealed her fate.................
Ruth was a 'shock', but only because she shouldn't have gone that week!

It has to be Laura for me, I really did expect her to be in at least the final 5 if not the final 3. I like many assumed she would be safe in week 5 and I was shocked when she went into the bottom two. However as soon as she started singing in the sing off I knew she was leaving the show and it proved that nobody could beat Ruth under pressure.

Looking at the poll I noticed a lot of people have put Diana, personally the only thing I found surprising about her exit last week is that she managed to stay in the show so long. She should have gone weeks ago on the performances she was giving.

Yeah I would say based on shock value - only Austin and Laura's were shocking.

Diana and Ruth's were shocking in that they weren't the worst on that particular night (as with Austin and Laura) but it was obvious with those two that they were going because of the lack of support/loss of support respectively. I feel Diana should have been out weeks before she was, but then the night she was out - I didn't think she should have. Funny the way things work sometimes!

I would agree with you there. Last week was the best she had been on the show for a long long time. It was also the first night she had shown that there was more to the girl than that horrid pitchy sound. I do wonder if she over play her contemporary side of her voice. So in that way it was a surprise she went.

Interesting what you are saying about people leaving on the wrong night. You could have said the same of Scott who should have gone in week 1, but left in week 2.

Yeah. You can't really properly base it on the performances given each night because, for example, Bad Lashes only had one week.

I think Cheryl got a bit carried away with Diana and spent too long trying to make her come across as different to attract votes, and not long enough trying to make her appealing to keep voters interested. People were raving about Diana after With Or Without You and Man In The Mirror, but after the third week people began to criticise her, particularly because the song barely fitted the theme. Being ill in week 5 didn't help, and she was still ill in week 6, so I think she only really had four good performances (week 1, 2, 4 and 9)

Up untill about week 5 Diana was giving really good performances, so Idon't agree she should of gone weeks ago, also her last two performances were brilliant, we got the old Diana back, pitty fickle people went on and off her.

Surely the idea is to judge person on the show from week to week and vote accordingly, if people did that then there wouldn't be so many surprises or voting shockers.

The fact that Diana, for example, did well in her final appearance on the show is no justification keeping her in the show when she should have gone weeks ago if the voting was based on performances.

It's the silly voting patterns that causes the problems and devalues the concept of the show.
