X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has claimed that Diana Vickers was eliminated from the show because her fans were "too cool" to vote for her.
The Girls Aloud star predicted that her act would have a bright future in the industry after she was voted off in the semi-final round last night.
Speaking to Xtra Factor host Holly Willoughby, Cole explained: "You've seen over the weeks - Gary Barlow said he would sign her up. I just genuinely think the people Diana appeals to at home are a bit too cool to vote - those kind of people who wouldn't necessarily pick up [the phone] and go: 'Wow, she's amazing, she's my favourite'."
She added: "Honestly, I know people say that it's cheesy and clichéd, but I really don't think this is the end for her. Definitely not."
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell also predicted that Vickers would manage to maintain her existing fanbase in the coming months.
He revealed: "She's one of the few contestants who would leave a show like this and there'll still be a lot of interest in her."

I agree with Tom, she just ran out of fans :\ She wasn't as popular as people thought, either that or she lost it through the weeks which it could hvae been.
It was her time to go really.

I didnt vote last night as I wasnt in, my friends didnt and over half the people on her facebook page which has over 200,000 members didnt. If all of facebook voted for her and i did a few times and some other fans that didnt voted, she would of stayed. I struggle to believe that she went from polling the most votes most of the times to getting the 2nd lowest last week and the lowest this week.
But, I hope she does well in the future.... and..... Alexandra to win now.

Her facebook only makes up less than a tenth of the voters last night. And don't forget, some may have joined at the start of the series and not liked her, so she may not have 200,000 in that group who like her.

Sorry to be annoying but nobody has access to the voting information - she may well have been the third lowest every single week, never once in the bottom two, then fell out this week. We just don't know. I'm sure we'll find out though, people were demanding to see voting figures for week 5, so I'd have thought the whole series' voting figures will be available soon. Dermot said last night that there were over 2 million votes, an extra 100,000 may or may not have made a difference. Who knows?

Yeah i know its only a small % of people voting. I thought you could exit from a fan club thing.

True, I'm one of those. She was my favourite when I joined, but ended up my third favourite.

Yeahh I know, however last week she did get the 2nd lowest amount of votes because it was leaked. Abd Im not sure, I didnt just read it from the newspapers about the leak, I did have a feeling she did top the votes most of the weeks before her laryngitus.... i heard (this is just me hearing the rumours), but I heard that Week 1, Laura got the most votes, Week 2-4, Diana did. Week 5 she was ill, Week 6 I heard that she had the 2nd highest (although her performance was poor, but i guess that made people vote for her), I dont know about the other weeks, except for last week which she got just 0.5% more than Ruth.
My opinion is taht she lost her fans and popularity after her illness because the bad press about her "bunking the show because it was Mariah week" probably did turn people aggainst her.

Either way she was far from the worst last night.

I think part of it might of been us Diana fans just didn't vote enough, it's strange how she was never in the bottom two, but JLS have been, yet they sailed through.

That's obviously because their fans got the biggest wake up call they've had when they landed themselves in the bottom two, i certainly voted alot for Diana last night

The only people I like from this series are Austin and Diana, and I think both will be successful as well as Laura & the Final 3
The 'too cool to vote ' thing is a red herring, as was all the facebook stuff.
Support for diana must have dropped a lot since her 'laryngitis' week. If she was only half a per cent ahead of ruth the week before, it suggests SOME OF HER VOTES WENT TO JLS, thus putting ruth in trouble. Diana and ruth both finished ahead of JLS the week before Ruth went.

i think the fact was that enough people didnt vote and she got out voted by the other 3's fans and probs by the people that vote on performance and thought the others did better. The song choices were ok not the best i think she pulled off girlfriend but white flag isnt the greatest known song and i think it cost her even though i did vote.

Aw aye, too cool that they all sat in on a Saturday night watching XF.
Not saying people who do that aren't cool ^ But it's a challenge to her little closed-minded argument. I usually like Cheryl, but christ she's not got the brains.

The other contestants will have fans like you too, that maybe don't watch all the shows etc. It's unfair to say it's only Diana that has them.

lol i wasnt thinking about that, but yeh they will all have fans like that so i agree with you its pointless to say.
If 10 million watch , but only 2 million vote.......8 million are too cool to vote but still watch?? It effects them all. How many ruth and laura messages were there across the media about how unfair it was when they went. But how many of these people bothered to vote?? :bored:
