Members are allowed to speak in French on here where as speaking in Welsh is banned?

Since when have members been able to speak in French? I'm sure the admins have said in the past that the only language that is acceptable to post is English.

Yeah but the Welsh thread was deleted.
Oh, I never knew there was a Welsh thread.

If the mods didn't ban it then they must have their reason.
If you take a look at it now, you'll see we mostly speak English in it.

well said:thumbs:
and neither is capitals, or "text speak" for reasons of breaking the flow of the forum, so why is the french language now allowed?
surely this mumbo jumbo un intelligable waffle qualifies just as much as the banned forms of writing.
edit, I've reported the thread, I suggest everyone who feels the same do likewise before the forum turns into a gobledegook daily read
I think the difference is that (correct me if I'm wrong!) people posting in the Welsh thread were speaking to each other exclusively, whereas the French thread is more information based.

Ciao! Learn italian not french!
From what I see of the French thread, it's more of an learning thread with members explaining grammer and tense.
The welsh thread was made as a general chit chat thread, and that's why it was closed. If the french thread turns in that direction it will probably be closed too, but while it's more informative and intellectual it'll stay open.

I personally was under the impression that any post in another language had to be translated in the same post.

Which is what I did in my season seven of my Mystical Realms stories (http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=85066) where I had the episode titles in Latin.
I believe I had a character speak in French at one point, and although there was no translation it was obvious he was asking for a lite for a ciggarette.

Just a minor cosmetic change... no need to show no warnings message if you don't actually have any warnings. The warning system hasn't changed, not yet anyway.
Fave CBB thingy gone!
Don't know what you mean? All the favs that were shown next to posts are still there, unless I've missed something?

Do you mean Celebrity Hijack? I removed that a while ago. If you have a favourite housemate selected it will still be shown in your profile.

Noo, not everyone learns it. I learn German and Spanish. And French isn't one of the second world languages, German and Spanish is more spoken than French.

They also speak French. In terms of business language, English is first, then Spanish then French. German is also important as a lot of financial places (Frankfort...) are in Germany.

German has about 110 million native speaker and French has about 90 million native speakers.
French is spoken in a lot of those countries you listed but it's not necessarily the main language in all of them.

2. English - 508 million
3. Hindustani - 497 million
4. Spanish - 392 million
5. Arabic - 246 million
6. Russian - 227 million
7. Bengali - 211 million
8. French - 192 million
9. Portuguese - 191 million
10. Malay-Indonesian - 159 million

I read perfectly well thank you and just because it's official doesn't mean it's spoken by the majority of speakers. That should be obvious to anyone with half a brain cell since those countries' populations far surpass the number of native French speakers.
