. . . absolutely MURDERED Hallelujah. Alex totally oversung it and JLS aka Aston and The Dream Boys just ****ed it up with their harmonies.
It also saddens me that this song will be the only version of it most of the young generation will ever hear. I'm going ton have to listen to all the chavvy kids singing it for the next three months, knowing they have no concept of how beautiful that song can be.

Agreed.
Scarlett.

Aye, thats what I didnt like about Alex's version, I prefered JLS
JLS murdered Hallelujah.
Disagree with Alex's.
And I won't, seeing as nobody I know watches The X Factor.

SOngs are sung differently. I prefer other versions, but Alex's was fantastic. And all great songs are covered by other artists, and it will be covered again. SO wht if a generation relates to this one? A lot of people preferred Buckel to Cohen. Its just a matter of taste.
I loved both versions, and I am sure Eoghan's was good as well.
JLS's was too quiet, dodgy sound levels YET AGAIN
Alexandra's was really good. I disagree when people say she oversang it. Where are the rules saying it cannot be sung like that?

It's just one of those songs, it's like the power ballads without the token big note.

The music and lyrics are clearly meant to be sung in a slightly lower tone. Thats why JLS pulled it off better, though as I said neither were great.

I can guarantee if Alexandra came first then came Leonards version, you would think a lot differently
Loads of songs have been transformed like this in the past and have come out better. Run has been turned into a big power ballad and a lot of people prefer that over the original even though its not intended to be sung that way, the same with Without You (the *Mariah* song)
As I said in another thread its about putting your own stamp on the song, not doing a copycat version just because the original artist wanted it to be like that.

I doubt that for two reasons:
1.I have a genuine dislike for artists (bar Christina Aguilera obv, though even at very few times her) with huge powerful voices, hence me not being an Alexandra fan, nor a particularly big fan of Mariah, Leona, Whitney or Beyoncé. It's also why I like Diana.
2.I don't actually like the Leonard Cohen version.

Whats this got to do with Diana?
I'm not bitter that she won, especially seen as I made this before she had won, I just think it is a terrible choice for the winner.

Besides from them ruining it, it just isn't a good song as it doesn't showcase either of the Final Three's voices particularly well, there's no "big" moment or power note, like previous winner songs. Plus it doesn't really have any relevance to the show or winning, unlike the others.
They clearly only chose it because they thought Diana would win. When Dian was eliminated, I just thought to myself "Ha! Your really ****ed now!"

Thats what me and my mum said. Funny how it seemed like a perfect song choice for Diana lol. And thats true actually the song actually dosent have any reference to winning etc..
But then again i wasnt familiar with the song before X Factor [] but now after hearing it a few times i love it.
