Britain’s favourite astronomer is on the shortlist to enter the house when the show launches on January 2 – just two months before his 86th birthday...

He is expected to be joined in the BB house by Verne Troyer, the 2ft 8ins star of Austin Powers, and rapper Bobby Brown, a former cocaine addict.

Other names in the frame include tennis ace Tim Henman and actor Andrew Sachs’ granddaughter Georgina Baillie, the girl at the centre of the recent Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand BBC scandal.

BOBBY BROWN IS A LEGEND!!! Shame about all of his drug problems and with Whitney etc but he is, in American standards, a legend.

I think Moore may be too 'above' the program tbh but it would be fascinating if he went in, imagine the conversations taking place! Henman is too respectable in my eyes and I can't see him doing it! He seems a tad... boring too.

I would love to see Brown though! If he's confirmed... then there's definately NO WHITNEY haha

I think Sir Patrick Moore is a legend but I wouldn't want to see him appear and be embarrassed.

He did appear in a task in Big Brother 5 though, where the housemates had to identify his voice.
