View Full Version : How did it go this far?

10 or so months ago, we would have been happy to call this forum a community, nearly everyone got on well, and wasnt afraid of posting something contrevertial.
10 months later, divides split us all up and members hate each other.
So, what the hell happened here?:conf2:

I joined yesterday and this site has been one of the most unwelcoming places I've ever been to. I disagreed with someone's point yesterday and they started calling me argumentative and started arguing with me as if I don't have a right to be here. Then later on I got called "dumbass" for no good reason. I've never been to a forum like this. Is this how all new members are treated?

Seriously, be lucky this isn't the Britney forum. If you posted something negative you'd be told to go kill yourself.

Compare the members from now to this time last year and you've got your answer

TiBB has changed for the worse in such little time, mostly because of younger members joining I think (mind you, I can't talk, I'm only 14) but I agree that TiBB has become tripe in recent months.

Ahh sorry to hear that.. im sure this was always quite a friendly place? Anyways, welcome to tibb :)
And yeah ive deffo disliked tibb more than i did a few months ago. I noticed certain members have changed and become quite unfriendly. And some people bite your heads off for having an opinion. Fair enough debates are healthy but dont take them too far. I know i only joined in January so i havent even been here a year yet but i still notice things. And i know other members have been upset by certain people on here too.

Tell me about it..
All I done was introduce my daughter to this site, post a greeting and let people know how I was doing in hospital...
That was'nt just, that was 4 months ago, and she and I were villified and almost thrown out, neither of us posted anything insulting to any other member, in fact quite the reverse.
So its not just new members or old members coming back after assuming new identities, its the same old MSN cliques that gather on the same evenings and for one reason or another decide amongst themselves to "target" someone or some other clique, and then bring it here to the forum.
I for one would have a complete blanket ban on MSN chat here, and keep my fingers crossed it helps cool a few people down, but blaming new members is wrong they if anything have nothing to do with problem this at all
If you learn to not get so emotionally involved on here, it's fine. By that I mean don't declare somebody on here as your best friend, don't get into arguments, don't be rude, don't post your feelings etc. because all of those things are open to other people who can do whatever they like with the information you give them. People throw strops and "leave" then come back because they want to see how much attention people paid to them, or they have a "best friend" who's "upset" they left. It's a load of nonsense - I've left before, but not in a "I hate ___ so I'm leaving way" - about a month after I joined, I was ill and didn't come on for a month, and then between Big Brothers' I've left for months at a time. People didn't care I left, and I didn't care that people didn't care.
Moral of the story: don't get emotionally attached!

Are you joking? People actually get attached to members on a TV forum? That's ridiculous!
I have noticed it being very cliqey around here, people gang up on new members like happened to me yesterday for having a counter opinion.

Yep. It's a minefield of sorts on here sometimes, there are a lot of members on here who are still quite young and really highly strung because they've not matured yet (I don't mean that in a condescending way!) so there are a lot of "fights" and so on.

You're a very funny guy you know. You were the one who was rude towards me in the first place. You come from nowhere and telling me I shout crap and I'm not objective, and not in a nice way, you're the one to blame. Period.
And as a lot of new members, you think that, when you're in a debate, it's actually an argument.
I thought you said this forum was that awful that you didn't want to stay. I call that an attention seeker.
I agree with Mark and Matt, some people joined and put me off. I don't post that much since this summer because the forum was terrible during Big Brother.
I feel like Chewy, it's getting a bit complicated to 'speak' out loud like we used to do.

Exactly. I just stay out of the majority of this stuff, and I think I've only ever participated in one TiBB game, and it was more hassle than it was worth. If you stay out of things like that, you don't get involved in any arguments. It works for me!

Nice of someone to say it, thats the exact list that has/does cause problems.
(BTW, I don't mean to imply that i dislike the people on that list, I like or at least respect most of them)
Locke.
14-12-2008, 04:53 PM
I don't know what it was like before Big Brother 9 started, but since it finished the forum has been crap; Too many people are too attached to it, there are too many cliques, too many idiots, and some members are too young (I think you should have to be 15 to join- I'd imagine that to be the certificate to watch the last few series' of BB). And the games are getting boring now too, it's almost always the same people who take part in different games.
Anyway, I just hope it all changes again when CBB starts.

Re: The age limit.
One of the youngest members I ever met on here was either 11 or 12. His username is corkie and he joined about the same time as me.
He's been a brilliant member and hasn't ever caused any trouble, so I think it's unfair to blame age.
If you are looking for a reason for forum tension, you don't have to look far. Just have a scour around and you'll find that the members who's heads are so far up their own arse are the ones who cause ****, cuz they dish it out but are offended when they have to take it.

Ye, I agree with that list. I could name others but that list pretty much sums it up.
Britney fans wouldn't be on that list if it wasn't for some people on that list, and some people on that list wouldn't be on there if it wasn' for Britney fans. Pretty much a full circle lol!
