Can we remove it?
Its srsly doing my head in.
What does everyone else think of it?
It sucks! Big banners look nice.

It does get a bit annoying, but why can't people just have a smaller sig?
Lauren

It annoys me that when I click "show full sig" I can't then hide it again.
To be fair, it shouldn't affect your signature if you're within the rules.

It pisses me off megatron.

Yeah, Can we have an option to have it or not?
I do not mind Seeing Long Signatures, They make the Forum look nice and colourful, Unlike DS where no-one has any signatures or avatars and it makes it look really plain and boring!

Remove it pleeeeeeeeeease.
It's so annoying!

So do you all support someone who has a signature that fills your entire page and you have to scroll for ages to get to the post? And it takes minutes to load your page?? Hmm? HMMM!? Lmao... anyway.
James

Another way of looking at it is if you have a huge banner you are making people scroll through it every time to see the next post. And they probably have seen your banner many times before.

I hate huge sigs.. they clutter the forum.

Exactly. I don't think it should be removed.
I think it should be kept on infact but the size limit be MUCH bigger maybe
600x380?

It's really annoying! Especially when my banner is only a few pixels bigger than the limit.
I was going to ask for a function for people to turn it off, that way people who want it on can keep it on. I personally don't mind big banners, its better than having half of it chopped off. Really messy imo.

When peoples signatures take up over half of the screen, it gets a bit silly tbh.

Then keep your banners within the size limits :nono: Haha. I like viewing signatures, but I hate when they're massive cos it breaks up the forum and takes ages to load.

The limit is currently 380px high. I think that is quite generous myself. :dance2:

Yeah, but being a graphic maker myself, I know how much better it is to use a bigger canvas. It's no excuse to break the rules, but I can see why some banners are so huge. It gives you more space for creativity. And it's better than having some anorexic rectangle placed beneath your posts.
Sometimes {i think it happened with your Britney Star Academy banner Mark}it says 'show full signature' when it's not even too big and when you click it nothing happens?

I KNOW!! Thank you! LOL It was like 0.09777 bigger than the limit.
My current one isn't even that big anyway. I hate how the last little bit is chopped off. There are others like it too. It's really annoying. It isn't like I have 2 banners and 10 lines of text down there.

It's completely automated by the looks of things. If it finds you have a banner over the 550x350 limit (which yours is) it'll cut it off.

Why not - once you have finished the banner - resize it down within the limit? No-one will notice the difference. Or design the graphic wider rather than high.

I guess that's true. But I still stand by my point, I only have one banner down there. That's less than the rule of two banners with 5 lines of text if I remember right.

Resizing banners makes them look AWFUL. Fact.

I agree. I mean, just look at the ridiculous amount of space Damon's banner takes up when the whole thing shows (click to enlarge):
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/4903/damon1ws4.th.jpg (http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/4903/damon1ws4.jpg)
This is how it looks without it:
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/9803/damon2fm1.th.jpg (http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/9803/damon2fm1.jpg)
(To clarify, my screen resolution is 1440x900)
If anything I think the limit should be reduced, not increased.
At the end of the day, there have been limits in place for all the time since I've been here at least. If you make a banner that's out of the limit, then you can't really complain if part of it is hidden.
Nicky.

It's a tad annoying.. but I'm used to it now..
When I made my last banner.. it was humongous (The Danny Jones one), then I just resized it so it was 330 height by whatever width.. :)

I go back to my point, maybe a function for people to turn off, or turn it on. That way each sides get their way.

Mark/James said making an on/off function takes ages. I asked them about the snow option, and they said it takes ages and they would rather be working on other things site wise.. x

Not if you resize them smaller in a graphics program.

Really? It takes ages to add an on/off function?

Fair enough. Well I hope the suggestion can be considered.

Stick by the rules and keep your banner(s) within the size limit then, if you do that then the 'Show full signature' button shouldn't bother you.

Even when the banner is just a few pixels bigger? That's the problem with a few people here. The chopping off is unneeded if it isn't even that much bigger than the limit.

If you make a banner that's bigger than the limit, even if it's only by a matter of pixels, then you should expect it to be cut off. The limits have been in place for ages.
It's only now that this button has been brought in that people are complaining - but if your sig isn't over the limit then it wouldn't be a problem...

But come on, is my banner that much over the limit? I could have three banners down there and 15 lines of text. That would be VERY over the limit.
Mine's hardly a rule breaking offence!

And someone said earlier that they'd rather spend their time changing other things on the site.. how come there's never a noticeable different? So they're changing discreet pointless things instead of what the members want. It's silly.

The limit is 550 x 350px. Yours is 512 x 412px, and so therefore it is 62px over the height limit.
Like it said, it's almost certainly automated. The script wont stop and think, "oh right, this banner is only a few pixels out so I'll let it off" - it will be programmed to hide anything that is over the limit, which in this case is 350px high.
EDIT: I'm wrong actually, the limit is 550 x 300px, so your banner is 112px over the limit.
