Transparency On Graphics

Could someone please tell me how to make part of a image transparent?

Select the part you want transparent and delete it using your graphics editor. As long as there is nothing behind it, that part should then be transparent (transparency is shown as a white and grey chequered background in most graphics editors).

Transparent images must be saves as PNGs or GIFs for them to work (watch transparent GIFs, they can be quite fuzzy).
