Torrent {SOLVED}

Hey,
how long are torrents for TV episodes supposed to take. I'm downloading a episode of DH and it seems to be taking forever. Its been going for 10 mins and still has 23hrs to go.
I'm uisng utorrent for the first time. Should it take this long?

Depends how old it is and how many seeders there are.

Yes. Depending on how many seeds are available, download speeds will vary.

No. But my estimated download time changes all the time, one minute it can say 1 yr, the next it says it will take 10 mins.. torrents are weird.=D

I tried a few months ago and they were saying that it would take 2 days to download, so I haven't bothered since.

Are you downloading the full series or just one episode? For a film it takes me about 15 hoursish. And thats about 2 hours...
If you are downloading a full series then it will take a while.

Ohhh I forgot to say about seeders etc, if theres more leechers than seeders, it will take longer.
and depends on the file size.

An average episode takes 20-40 minutes for me
Its only really whole seasons of shows which take that long for me but it really depends of your internet speed and seeders + leachers

It's just one episode and as Sarah {please be called Sarah Lol} said it keeps changing. Its on 8hrs atm. Hope it lowers.

It also depends on your ISP. Some block the normal ports used for downloading and you need to change them to get thing running smoothly. Also the ports need to be open and the NAT translation on your router will need to be correctly configured. It not as simple as starting the software and off you go..... you need to set it up.

Make sure you have a tick in a green cricle on the bottom bar in utorrent.

Ok.
The download completed and the status is 'seeding'. When I try and play the video I can here it but not see it. Why is this?

Try using a different media player.

Also when It says seeding I always never bother with it, I don't even know what it is for.

I use torrents all the time like for Lost, Nip/Tuck, Everybody Hates Chris, Ugly Betty, Survivor and obviously Big Brother.

If you download them from a public tracker like Mininova or Eztv, it's way longer than downloading from a private tracker.

Private trackers are torrent sites that need you to register before you download. It's usually hard to register because you need an invitation code, I saw some being sold on ebay lol.

Private trackers are more severe about ratio than the public ones. From most of the british shows, I use thebox.bz and a special one for anything BB related. I can get a BB episode in less than 10 minutes.
