I've just realised that i actually despise Eddie Murphy. I dislike his humor and most of his films bore me. He is totally inadaptable, can only play the same role over and over again.

Plus he seems like a horrible person, ever since the whole Mel B drama i lost a lot of respect for him. I imagine he's quite racist too, judging from his standup material.

Anyone agree?

He's not as funny as he used to be. I was watching The Nutty Professor the night and reminded me of how hilarious he once was. Films like Norbit were a complete fail, tbh.

He was a genious comedian early in his career. But I havent enjoyed any of his latest stuff. The last movie from him I like was boomerang, and I just watched that recently, but his role impersonations, were only funny the first time in coming to america. Since, its a bit boring.
As for his standard comedy routie, I dont think you get the humour if you havent lived in the US. All great stand ups have those white jokes routines. In the US its all taken with a pinch of salt.

So to answer, I think he is very funny, but he didnt pick a lot of good movie roles.

Well I was born in the US and lived there till i was 10 so . . .

It's not that he makes the jokes that leads me to say it, it's how many of them he makes and with level of malice he says them with. I'm not terribly offended by it or anything, it's just an observation.

I think his earlier films were great like 48 hours, trading places, coming to america and beverly hills cop, not been to impressed with more recent stuff but still like him as a actor.

anyone see Tropic Thunder? ( Robert Downey Jr, Ben stiller )... Jack black plays a loser movie actor that seems based on Eddie Murphy. eg crap movies with the same actor doing multiple characters. Great movie especially seeing Tom Cruise as a 50 year movie executive dancing like he's in a music video but I thought awww Eddie Murphy really has hit rock bottom if the people in this movie openly take the p#ss out of him.
