Former Big Brother winner Rachel Rice has insisted that the new celebrity series should not be censored.
Celebrity Big Brother returned to Channel 4 last night for its first run since the Shilpa Shetty race row which engulfed the programme in 2007.
Rice, who won last summer's non-celebrity series, has now claimed that producers made the right decision by broadcasting the controversial scenes.
"What happened was really horrible," Rice told Wales Online. "But I think people learned from it and Jade [Goody] apologised and Shilpa's let it go. It was bad but reality is not always nice and things like that do happen in real life so we shouldn't censor it."
Asked about this year's lineup of contestants, she said: "It should be a good year, they've got some good people on it this time."
Show producers recently insisted that Celebrity Big Brother will not be "sanitised" this year.

I love her, but the courts say i can't go near her :sad: how can i show her my "i love you" statue made out of my very own dead skin, nails, not done yet tho.
Yeah Rachel is right, it should be a great series and the housemates are a fantastic line up.

It makes me laugh out loud to think that Rachel won Big Brother UK. She represents the exact opposite of what made the show great.
Big Brother is colourful, larger than life, opinionated, and explicit. Rachel is ... well ... Welsh.
And thats not an attack on Wales, thats an attack on Rachel. The most interesting thing you can honestly say about her is that she is Welsh.

I agree that she wasn't very interesting, but is there really anything about her capable of invoking the feeling of hatred? The fact that she's so dull makes it all the more laughable when people hate her.

True, that. And dont get me wrong, I dont hate her, I dont anything her. She has no emotion. If you cant give Stu an emotion, then Stu cant pay you one back.

I didn't exactly want her to win, but her winning was better than Bex/Luke/Dale/Jen/Stu/Sylvia/Dennis/Alex/and a few of the others winning.

Ummm, what made BB great in 2000 was watching NORMAL people on TV. Rachel is a normal, nice person.
