View Full Version : Where does this idea that Ulrika is posh come from?

As far as I know her background is a very hard and troubled early life with her being shipped from one parent to another. They had hardly any money at all and she came over off her own bat and made a relatively good life for herself.
If people want to label her doesnt it make her some sort of "working class success". Yet because she learnt to speak English properly (lets not forget its not her first language) she seems to have been labelled "posh" and that she thinks she is better than everyone. All I've seen if jealousy by others especially Terry about what she got paid, but that doesnt make her posh (not that it should automatically count against someone if they are anyway)

She's posh now. You don't have to be born posh, to be posh.
She already told of her hard upbringing.

and just because you have a nicely spoken voice doesnt make you posh either. She isnt posh, if anything she is an example of people without much on getting on and bettering her life.

It's her voice i think, gives people the impression of poshness, plus the fact she's loaded now.

having lots of money now doesnt make someone posh, it makes someone well off

in that case doesnt that make most of the people in the house posh? Or maybe they should rename all the Spice Girls to Posh 1,2,3,4 and 5?
And I've met many of person who arent doing that well but are extremely posh.
Poshness is completely different to having money and being well off. Its just quite often people who are well off are born into a well off family.
I do think that people dont seem to understand what the word means though. And I dont think it should be an excuse by some to dislike someone else, just as its wrong to dislike someone from a poor background.
There are great posh people, there are lousy posh people. There are also great poor people and lousy poor people. Basically as the saying goes never judge a book by its cover.

It's true! there's the case of the binnie who won 7ish million on the lottery and spanked it all and got some time for being naughty in-between.
Money doesn't mean you're 'posh', it's a class thing! Beckham will never be posh!, his missus though..., well that's ulrika's teritorry.

Money talks. It's the be all and end all in the class system. Now, living "classy" or "snobbish" which is synonymous with "posh" IMO, is a whole other story. You can be rich like Jordan, and look like a right *****. I wouldn't call her posh, but she can "buy" class. Everything has a sale price.
Also, the rich want to be chavs. They all want to pretend to be working class, from the streets, wearing track suits, and donning ice. What equates high class now, is really muddy.
