Sorry to say but LaToya and Verne are a piece of typical ignorant America thickies.
I wish Americans learnt history, instead of the sh*t they sprout. Verne didnt even know the Germans lost WW1.
shut up you thick Americans and go and learn your history.
I love the ignore feature on this forum.

so you agree with what they said? You feel LaToya was right what she said?
The fact that they dont even understand what happened in the WWs?
Maybe if history was told in America there wouldnt be so much ignorance.

Firstly, There are just as many British people who don't know much about WW1 and 2.
Secondly, to a degree she was right. USA are a powerful country, probably the most powerful at the moment. It's not a lie, it's fact. They won't always be the most powerful, but at this current time, they are.
Maybe you should chill out dude, and not take everything so seriously.

1. They still no more than most American who still seem to think they won the war for us, when the truth is they were forced into both wars that they didnt want to be involved in.
2. I wasnt referring to who the most powerful country is, although I would dispute it being America now, especially considering all the money they owe China (even if they still just are, its only a moment away from it being China), I was referring to the fact that dont have the slightest grip on history and thats why most of the world see them as ignorant. The ones in the house merely prove the point

the thing is most Brits know, true too many dont, but there is far too much ignorance amongst Americans and it especially goes for world history or world current affairs. They rarely get any news that doesnt involve America or Americans

People SHOULD know, I'm not arguing with that, But a lot of British people don't know many facts about WW1 and 2. Obviusly they know Germany lost, but for some, thats all they know about it.

Firstly, sad as it may seem, although I dont think it is many, there are no doubt quite a sizeable minority that dont know.
As for Verne I think it was WW1 rather than 2, not that it makes it that much better

thank you. I dont know why others have to get personal. I have been to America quite a few times and have American relatives and friends, and I can tell you they are as a nation very ignorant of world events and world history. You rarely get any world news out there unless it involves Americans abroad.
My American friends and family always say the biggest thing when they are over here is how they are able to hear about whats going on in the world. It has improved with BBC World on cable out there, but the vast majority of Americans, especially outside of the major cities, still have no grasp of world events or world history and thats in the main because they are educated to believe that Americans did everything and won both wars as a favour for us, rather than in both cases being dragged into a war they didnt want to help out in. They believe it was America and the others that beat Germany, rather than the Allies including America for the last half that won. And thats why they have the attitude they have.

actually I have been to an American school as part of an exchange and I have American relatives and friends and do know that mostly Americans are ignorant of world facts. You disagree with me then prove my point by saying they dont have time to learn it as they are "taught" American history. And was part of my point.
Unfortunately the only bit of world history they do get taught causes the ignorance and incorrect comments we heard from LaToya and Verne tonight and is why Americans are generally viewed that way around the world

Yes, and should we go through Michelle's answers to the questions in the Diary Room?
Bradley, weren't you the one who wrote "dribble," instead of DRIVEL. Honey, that's embarrassing, and beyond ignorant. Finish your schooling before you open your mouth.
The majority of the British public believe that Winston Churchill wasn't a real person, when polled.
YOU Bradley, and ONLY you, have an inferiority complex when it comes to America. Work that out for yourself, and don't troll the board with such rubbish.

That's not a spelling error. Two "b"'s is not a typo. It comes from a person who has very little vocabulary. This person should not be throwing around the word, "ignorant".
Bradley is condescending, as well as a xenophobe. The Brits also have no clue of their own history. They've been quizzed. The country is overrun by Chavs now. The majority of America's bad history, was created by Britain.
If America didn't have the backwards South, and allowed them that succession they wanted, the country would be the one of the smartest nations on the planet.
Britain has this ludicrous idea of all Americans being obese, when Britain has the same obesity crisis as America, when comparing population. Britain is living in a vacuum. It's beyond transparent that the week America makes history, all the anti-Americanism sprouts up. Stop bashing Americans, and using outdated stereotypes. The new generation is one of the smartest that has ever existed, with the majority over-educated. So knock off the America bashing!

You also said "shut up you thick Americans and go and learn your history."
I say you shut up and get your facts right :pat:
actually I have been to an American school as part of an exchange and I have American relatives and friends and do know that mostly Americans are ignorant of world facts. You disagree with me then prove my point by saying they dont have time to learn it as they are "taught" American history. And was part of my point.
Unfortunately the only bit of world history they do get taught causes the ignorance and incorrect comments we heard from LaToya and Verne tonight and is why Americans are generally viewed that way around the world
The US is the most hated country in the world, go figure
and the sad thing is after 9/11 they had a chance of getting the world behind them. From every corner of the world, there was a coming together that has never been seen before. Then Bush managed to turn that around to making them hating, even in friendly countries.
Hopefully Obama will be different. In some respects he is quite lucky, as following on from Bush, it can only get better, and therefore its hard for him not to be successful. Although I would rather see how he does rather than the way many are talking about him as if he has actually done something, rather than just starting.

actually I'm still amazed it does and that Australia has the Queen as their monarch (mind you I think that about us as well). Why do they need it? I'm not saying there should be bad relations but Australia is more than big enough to not have to have Britain in charge, even if it is purely ceremonial.

Sorry that simply isnt true. I am aware completely of what Fox News is and am revolted by it but it continues to grow in popularity in America (I think they are on 24/7 rather than 24/4 though). As for the likes of O'Reilly and Rush, they are immensely popular and their books nearly always go to no.1 in the non fiction (ironic because most of it is fiction) list, and Rush has one of the most popular talk radio shows in America. I cant remember the BNP, who you seem to compare with this lot, have quite the same available coverage.
I honestly dont know why you chose to claim what you have. Besides they are only part of the problem, if Americans are taught about the world at schools and get nil or next to nothing in the way of World news, they will remain as ignorant of the truth as erne and LaToya showed on yesterdays show

so you admit you were wrong then, unless you think 23% is a majority then? A little clue.... a majority is usually over 50%
Admittedly its rather depressing that there are 23%, still compared to your average American and their limited knowledge it could almost equate to Newton.

YOU Bradley, and ONLY you, have an inferiority complex when it comes to America. Work that out for yourself, and don't troll the board with such rubbish.
haha "honey"!!
your picking him up on spelling errors and being condescending at the same time. Can you spell check my post too?....honey
ps Bardley doesn't have an inferiority complex just because he thinks Americans ought to have at least some clue about their own nation's history...
eg American views on Iraq from a show that airs here in OZ.

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=p-vCl0U34KQ
http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx7CfSCTpgU
So knock off the America bashing!
thank you for proving my point. Maybe you need to check that one out. Where the most obese cities in the world are?
Americans are smart in a small and confined area of knowledge, but even then their arrogance over the WWs is unbelieveable and completely wrong. You can throw as many insults at me, although I did thing that wasnt meant to be allowed here, but to somehow claim that I'm alone in this way of thinking is silly.
The point of this thread was because I was angry that LaToya and Verne were spourting the usual ignorant rubbish that unfortunately Americans are famous for.
At least my American friends and family arent like the average American but thats because they are well travelled
Where the most obese cities in the world are?
Is that suppose to be a sentence, because I can't make it out at all.
People that have no grasp of the English language, should not be critiquing anything.
I think it's time you ended this, because it's just getting pathetic.
So take your dribble to another board already.
It appears I put the word "are" in the wrong place. I do apologise it should have read "Where ARE the most obese cities in the world". Big crime. BTW bad grammar especially when someone like me who has problems with dyslexia, is not a sign of intelligence.
As for your comments that I should leave, I will suggest that it isnt up to you nor is it for you to feel the need to say so.

The Brits as in?
Britain. Not, Britney Spears, the Southern dumbass. Not all Americans are the same and same with British people!
I pretty much covered that. In fact, I made it clear that it was bradley, and bradley ALONE, that needs to get a grip. I think a few additional names are going to be added to that list.
You are certainly not on that list. Now, give me that hamburger!
awww you referring to me? lol @ you Germans and your lists! Can you add a nice gold star next to my name on your naughty/nice list? Some things never change huh? Is you name Schindler?
ps here's why your full of it....... you hate us having a laugh stereotyping US citizens but you use a line like "the Southern dumbass". Do you see your problem? You accuse us of "America bashing" and then you get in on it too. What's wild is your hypocrisy all took place in the one post ... nice work bro!
now where was I ....hehe oh yes...Americans...

If I reply with what I want to reply with, it'll just be removed. Consider yourself extremely lucky.
lol that was wonderful!!! "Consider yourself extremely lucky" oh dude your gold! ... oh wait was it the golden star joke that you didn't like?
Was it the "list" gag that made you all cross? FYI when Germans like yourself threaten people with lists ...well that's going to get you some nazi gags. Why don't you u2u me whatever you'd like to say if your afraid of getting banned.... Or just answer the question about you blatant hypocrisy.
Point that you side stepped was
"here's why your full of it....... you hate us having a laugh stereotyping US citizens but you use a line like "the Southern dumbass". Do you see your problem? Explain it mate...instead of calling for admin to lock a thread that you've filled with personal insults. Where's that band wagon you jumped on?
Point is... of all the nations on the planet Yanks are the most insular and inward looking... that coupled with there pride makes them easy targets for a laugh. They are unaware of the rest of the world not because they are stupid but because they really couldn't give a sh*t about us.."turn them into a glass bowl for all I care"... ie nuke them all for all I care . It fun to see losers trying to vicariously experience pride and power via patriotism when you juxtapose that with how powerless and marginalised they are personally. That's the joke mate!!. It's a little more subtle than the usual slapstick and schadenfreude rubbish that makes Germans laugh. "oo yah..yah.. de man he is fallink over in de middle of de shtreet!!! ..yah vfunny stuff"

O'Reilly and Limbaugh are popular for Americans that listen to talk radio or watch the mainstream media, not Americans in general. The majority of Americans reject that position as evidenced by Bush's popularity, Obama's presidency, and a slew of other polls.
I think this "ignorant American" stereotype is about a decade old now. One of the great advantages of being surrounded by BS is that eventually, you become immune to the BS.

thats a rather strange argument. Most arent ignorant because they dont listen to talk radio or the mainstream media???? Where do they get their infomation from then?
Anyway, my main point was dealing with the ignorant view by the likes of laToya and Verne, and is often said by many Americans, which is why they are branded as ignorant. You may wish to ask yourself why is this view held about America by so many in the world

Do you mean the rest of the world, with that statement, because I hate to tell you this, but most of the world dislikes America thanks to what Bush did. But thats for another day and another thread, this is about BB
Thank you for proving the point, although if you looked at the original post it was in reference to ignorant Americans like LaToya and Verne, who dont know a thing about history but still feel the need to have a go at others from their limited knowledge

but by definition if the other source is mainstream then it means that it is likely to be the more popular source of infomation.
And I've seen some of the independent "news" organisations that come out from America, and they make Fox News seem left wing

A slight retraction:
I admit looking at the heading it could be taken that I was referring to ALL Americans , but that wasnt the impression I was trying to give. My point was about Americans like laToya and Verne. As I have stated I have many American friends and family and they are well travelled and not ignorant. Unfortunately it is the type of Americans like LaToya and Verne with their limited knowledge that makes people around the world dislike Americans as a whole.
I am sorry for any mis-understanding that the heading might have caused and hope this explanation has helped
