Thinking of getting one for my 18th, where do you think i should get it?

So far ive thought of:

The top of my shoulder and it leads down the side of my arm.

or

Down my ribs on the right side.

Trying to find a place where not many people will have them.

Any ideas..?

Ohh and the shoulder doesnt look as good as the ribs as i just drew on myself lol.

Ribs is a good place.. especially since yer bodybuilding, so yer arms will change shape/size and distort the art.

Only get it if you're 1000000% sure you want it though so you don't end up getting it lasered off about a week later :blush2:

Also not on your forearms/wrists or on show in work clothes- some employers will reject you for a job if they're on show

If you get nice lettering, ye can also get the fade effect thru it.. I have that on ma lettering.. it goes from dark purple to light.. as if it's fading out..

30stone
22-01-2009, 10:44 PM

lily.
22-01-2009, 10:47 PM
haha... well at least ye know the quality of his work. My other half has 7 tattoo's by 3 diff artists... one of them is shite..

30stone
22-01-2009, 10:49 PM
Lol aha ohh dear id hate to have a shite tattoo.

Im kinda looking at the back of my trap, which is like real high up my back on the left side becasue then some people will see it less (=

lily.
22-01-2009, 10:52 PM
I like that mine are all hide-able.. cuz sometimes ye dun want them to be visible...

It's not that I don't like them, but it's just there are times when I'd rather not be judged by the ink I wear.

The shite one my husband has is one of the smaller ones, and he's guna be getting it covered soonish.. He will be using the artist he knows is good though.. the same one who did all mine.. I wouldn't go to anyone else.

I got another stern warning from my tutor today about getting a tattoo done, 'If you get a tattoo you might as well wish an acting career away, it tells too much about you, your tattoo's are not your character' and all that shizen. Thats why I have to wear all black to rehearsals so I bring none of my own personality into sessions.

Hm... digressing a bit.

I had one, it was awful. One of my friends has an apprenticeship as a tattoo artist and he had a party one night and me half drunk "went oh you can practice on me if you want". Worst thing I EVER said, I ended up with a skanky cross on my leg LOL he knew I hated them so thought he'd wind me up. Can't fault the design/work though. Was in the middle of summer as well (when it was warm in about Mayish) so I had to either be even more self conscious or cover it

I got it lazered off, thats how strongly I felt against it

I also have my friends death date/name on my chest, that one doesn't look too bad

lily.
22-01-2009, 11:06 PM
Did the laser treatment completely remove it?

Sorry bout yer friend btw..

Tom
22-01-2009, 11:08 PM
Yeah, theres a little mark there (like a scar type thing but not a scar, its wierd) but its not that noticeable, I just know its there but its better than a giant cross :joker:

lily.
22-01-2009, 11:11 PM
The messed up one my husband has is faded loads, so a cover-up will be easy.

IMO Tatoos are horrible, I think there really tacky and vile.
Although I fully understand why olympians get the a small olympic rings tatooed on them, as I can understand that but other wise eurgh horrible, they fade, blur and shrink/ stretch as you get older.

lily.
22-01-2009, 11:18 PM
Each to their own opinion, but I freakin love them. I think they're hot.

I really want to get a third one but I think that, if I ask, my parents will scratch my eyes out.
I want ti write 'Because it's a bittersweet symphony' on my heart because on the right side I've got a green clover with my name in it.

But I think I'll have to a wait a bit lol

And I agree Linda, tattoos are hot. :spin2:

Are you aware of how much it hurts getting tattooed down your ribs, my god the pain!!! its worse than your foot, I have one in both places, the one on my ribs being the most recent and the most painful tattoo I have ever had done, and I love being tattooed (perv I think)

Remember if you are also growing your body that anything you are going to get will stretch and shrink with your skin so could end up looking distorted over time, choose carefully!!!

I am planning my next one now as well!

I have a pretty good cover up as well, what are you using on your tattoo? I use either bepanthen or Preperation H, to aid healing, they are both great and take the itch out!!!

tattoo goo is awful it makes everyone I know itchy and does nothing for the healing process, savlon is cool as well though :xyxwave:

if you are sure you want one then got for it, but beware they are addictive.

I have several and just dont know when to stop - that said all of mine are in places that leave me with choices about whether other people see them or not. That said I am thinking about a wrist tattoo next so....

Yeah sunny i thought ribs would be a good place since im not really growing anymore in height and ribs are just one of the places that i wont get and more muscle on so it shouldnt really stretch.

And yeah ive thought about the pain but its ok i have a high pain threshold (=

Still oging to kill im sure lol.

i have 2 inner wrist tattoos which are my only ones that are visible pretty much all the time (but nothing a watch and bracelet cant cover)

30stone
23-01-2009, 01:21 PM
Yeah my brothers can be covered .. mostly with a watch, but then he does plumbing so doesnt need to.

And mine will stretch over time as im still planning to put on over 4 more stone yet up to 5 maybe.

lily.
23-01-2009, 01:21 PM
Oh god.. that "Justin" is hideous. It's a good thing you told me his name, cuz it wasn't clear.

30stone
23-01-2009, 01:23 PM
lol its ugly and i cant read it.. but it looks fancy lol.

lily.
23-01-2009, 01:27 PM
It's bloody hideous is what it is... the lettering should have been closer together and larger, especially since it's on a leg.

hannah.
23-01-2009, 01:45 PM
i know hahahaha

and purely just the fact that he got his own first name tattooed on his leg
he rang me and said "I've got a tattoo"
and then he told me what it was and I laughed for about 15 minutes, because that was bad enough, but when I saw it! hahahahahahaah

and here's another of my friends'... his last name is bean, you see, but imagine how ridiculous it would look if you didn't know that

Being honest I dont get why people have their own names tattoed on themselves? I know each to their own and all that but I like something a little more original.
