Final score would get a lot more if it wasn't for Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports News which gets about 1million

Yeah its done quite badly
The only good thing is that the repeats can get about 1million combined and a high number of 16-34's
However the show is just not strong enough for a Saturday night, if I was running things I would increase post-watershed content and give it a 9pm slot on a Sunday
The show just lacks depth and story for me compared to other Saturday night drama

Jamie Oliver show did quite poor. Skins got more yesterday than last weeks opener.
I admit I watched skins just to see what the hype was about. I reckon the numbers will be down next week due to such a crappy episode!

Very good for Skins, deserves the increase but last nights episode wasn't the best to get viewers to stick.

Apart from TXF and BGT, i think the soaps are the biggest rating pullers. On Xmas 2007, EE recieved over 14 million.

Yeah the soaps are the most popular shows, they usually top the weeks ratings unless BGT or XF is on.
However last year it became clear the soaps were losing popularity and I think for about 7 consecutive weeks in the summer the soaps didn't get the top spot over shows such as The Apprentice and New Tricks
But so far in 2009 it looks like the soaps have bounced back, especially Corrie, which had a terrible end to the year by their own standards.

Yeahh they are bouncing back, but around this time in 2007, im sure both CT and EE were hitting 10m (especially on Mondays).
Spike
30-01-2009, 07:06 PM
This time last year Corrie was hitting 11m and 12m with EE getting about 10m if I remember correctly

About 5/6m extra people watching TV then usual because of everyone being stuck in the house because of the snow. Look at EE and CT!!! they havnt reached that in quite a long time (except for Xmas)... Whitechapel proved to be a huge hit.
Spike
03-02-2009, 10:41 AM
I knew Corrie and EE would do well last night, very impressive
Whitechapel did incredible, for a 9pm drama to get that these days is just amazing but it will see a drop next week as the weather gets better
The 6.30pm news on ITV got over 5million, highest I have seen it since a big story like the terrorist attacks
Hollyoaks is really struggling at the moment, last year it was getting nearly 4million when the C4 and E4 ratings are added together, not it seems it can't get 3million

Amazing what a bit of snow can do to the ratings
17:00- Five News: 1.3m (8.2%)

BBC News at Six - 7.1m (30.1%)

- Last Monday: 800,000
BBC News at Ten - 7.4m (32.3%)
ITV News at Ten - 4.7m (21.4%)
I think that the highest ITV:NAT rating since its relaunch
and the highest ratings for the news in quite a bit, probably since the London bombings

I expected more last night, dissapointed by Boys and Girls Alone, from forum response on DS and the weather I expected it to be a bigger hit
Ouch for NAT, I was hoping it would hold on to some of its audience from the night before, I personally prefer it to BBC news
Holby City and CSI is the big winner of the night
Tonight is the biggest night in years for Five, it will be interesting to see how their biggest UK drama ever will perform against some tough competition
*mazedsalv**

Spike

Minder
Locke.

Liverpool vs Everton on ITV is competing with Waterloo Road and Minder, I think the match will get better ratings.
Spike
04-02-2009, 04:26 PM
I thought the footie would do well but I have my doubts. Its against very tough competition and the FA cup hasn't been getting very good ratings. Being Liverpool vs Everton it could boost ratings but it could hinder as other parts of the country might not be as interested.
I think Waterloo Road will finish bottom in the 9pm slot tonight

Loads of high ratings, C4 did very well with Grand Designs getting in the mid 4 millions!!! and with Relocation Relocation. Minder did good. Good for the soaps and the FA Cup.
Minder did well - it got Five's highest ever ratings for an original drama...
Spike
05-02-2009, 04:20 PM
Awful for Minder, with all the promotion I would of hopped over 3.5million for it but it was against tough competition. From what I have read about it on DS it sounds like the audience will fall next week. If it can stay over 2million for its run, a second series will be likely
C4 did very well while BBC1 was the biggest loser of the night

BAFTA's did well, without DOI competition it could of easily got 7million because of the hype around Slumdog Millionaire

As for yesterday I am a little dissapointed at the Brits because there seemed to be a huge hype around it this year but it was a terrible show

Skins did extemely well, and the ratings shot up, looks like teh characters changes doesnt seem to bother people as it got 980,000 with +1.
Jade on Living TV got alot more than I expected, I know of a lot of people who missed it last night, myself as well that wanted to watch it, but missed it because it wasnt advertised enough.

I've noticed My Name Is Earl is very stable and important to E4, always performs constantly well whatever time or channel its on
The Billy Connolly show, Jade's show and Skins are the big winner of the night
