I think it was a woman, actually. Her name was Stacy Burton.

She can talk and walk well now, but she was initally treated for Brain injuries and she was in a coma for 23 days.

Probbaly the Loose horse was there because earlier on in the race a jockey fell of it and it must have ran the Opposite direction
