Just had email back from Channel 4,

" Our overall aim this summer, will be giving the fans just what they need with more commitment in supplying more exciting clips directly on the channel 4 website.

We do not feel there is enough demand for live feed viewing and have no plans for this to return during the summer in 2009. "

Unless C4 have a change of heart and realise how axing it really impacted on viewers enjoying the series I'm not expecting it back.

Last year when the axed the web feed for Hijack everyone was saying "oh, it's just for hijack, it'll be back in the summer", but it was blatantly obvious it wouldn't be - and I'm not expecting C4 to see sense and reverse the decision in the summer.


The TV Show is back on Saturday - be interesting to see if they mention how many complaints C4 have got over it, and if they have anyone on to repeat the same pathetic excuse. Really it's like saying YouTube is popular, so TV should be axed.

Plus I wouldn't base it on an email that has no validity, anyone could have made it up

Also I don't know how you can sit there for at least half an hour and just watch people basically do nothing, nothing interesting happens on live feed, when something interesting does happen they play bird noises, and change the camera so its not on the "action" or they play a recorded series of shots from around the house. It's not about watching it 24/7, it's about knowing the HMs can be watched 24/7, which is the core principle of the show.

No live feed is like having Millionaire with no million pound jackpot. You might not see anyone win it that often, but without the possibility of it, the show is nothing.

Without live feed people dont feel motivated to watch.... only seeing 3/4 hours a day is bad because the producers could edit it badly for one HM mor ethan another. At least in BB9 we knew who was being edited in the wrong way because we watched live feed... but in CBB6 we didnt. 13 weeks without it will piss people right off.

I've always thought the C4 show is for the highlights, the live feed is for the lowlights - and often it's the lowlights where you find out more about the HMs.

Most people are saying they will defenitley not watch if there is no feed on DS. C4 are seriously stupid if they think the ratings will go above 2m without the feed.

I think it makes a huge difference. C4 have all complained about it too. On DS a poll with about 1050 voters have had 980 of them say they want live feed back(91%) otherwise they wont watch.C4 forums are the same as DS and are furious too. It might not seem like a big deal, but with this many people wanting it back...BB10 is doomed for failure if they dont bring it back.

I couldn't really care, its more of a similar situation with when Russell & Dermot Left.. the shows lost viewers, people complained, but most people got on with it, the show went on...

Biased editing makes people want to switch off... at least in BB9 with the editing people could see who was being edited badly (thats why Rachel won as she was about 5 x more fun on live feed).... for BB10 there could be a really intresting and nice HM that could be edited as a bitch... or a agressive one that is edited as a nice person. Eg. If BB7 had no live feed, then Aisleyne would have been gone as soon as she was up, it was live feed viewers who saw her real side that kept her in, the edits were soo vile to her, 95% of her on the screen would be bad stuff about her, as opposed to what she was actually like on LF... and that made the producers furious because they were too busy trying to edit Pete as an angel.

Less than 0.1m watch the live feed, the vast majority of the viewers only watch the highlights and its always been that way. The 1000 people on DS will have no impact on the overall figures.

Complaining about it is a pointless exercise. People can boycott the show all they want, it won't have any effect especially if they don't have a BARB box

It affects the highlights show because it's effectively a 24-hour promo for it. People are more likely to watch the highlights if they've caught a few minutes of live action earlier in the day, or if something which happened live has created a bit of a buzz online and in the press to generate interest. Without the promotion people aren't reminded BB is on, so just don't care if they miss the highlights that night, and ultimately don't care if they watch any of the series at all.

Thats what im saying. People every now and then go and watch live feed and without forums seem about 3/10 of what its like with live feed.... people just lose intrest without the feed.

I don't imagine the reach is great either. What people fail to understand is that forums are not representative of general opinion. Go and ask any casual viewer, who make up 99% of any TV audience, about what they think about the 24/7 live feed. I bet some would even answer they didn't know there was one! "The forums want" does not translate as "the public want".

The forums are the fanbase though, and the days where it's just geeks and freaks discussing online are well and truly over (unless you consider yourself a geek/freak Tom?). The BB target audience is very internet savvy, and digitally clued up too - so the forums are actually very reflective of BB's target audience.
