Adventures in Babysitting (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092513/)- I used to love this film when I was young so decided to give it another watch.

Lost Boys 3 The Thirst (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1400526/)- I never even knew there was a third one, its a lot better than the last effort and has some references to Sam (Corey Haim) still doesn't compare to the first one though.

They're a very special filmmaking duo, that's for sure. Very intelligent but always with a taste for the bizarre and random. Never fully know what to expect in their flicks, and yet you always know a Coen brother's film... it's unmistakable, which is to their huge credit considering that they've really experimented so much in the films they produce.

Oh, and watching the Enforcer right now. One of the Dirty Harry flicks that I haven't seen in years and for a sequel it's not half bad. Suppose that has something to do with good old Clint though.... the man had it. You know he wasn't the first person they wanted in the role? Mad stuff when you watch them now and can't even consider anyone else in the part.

Frozen.

Fantastic chiller (literally!) obviously made on a smallish budget, the idea is a very simple one but one of the most effective physcological thrillers I've seen in a long time. Made me laugh, cry and hide behind my hands (although there are really only a couple of gruesome scenes). Really good acting from relative unknowns, and aside from a couple of slightly silly coincidences I thought it was brilliant. Makes you think about what you would do in that situation. Would recommend it to anyone.

I've watched a few recently...

Get Him to the Greek. I felt that the film, although quite funny in places, didn't strike the right balance between realism and it's outlandish moments, which is probably down to the narrative arc - it doesn't have one really - with it all being an excuse for endless moments of debauchery and madness, which I wouldn't have a problem with usually, but the attempts to anchor it in truth didn't sit well with me at all. It felt really awkward and untrue in parts.

Having said that, there's some moments that I wont forget in a hurry but yeah, the whole thing didn't amount to anything really.

Machete. Now this is my type of film. Crazy, gratuitous and very stylishly shot in the style of 70's exploitation flicks, this feels like something the South Park team would do if they had any skills at directing live action. It's all very silly fun with over the top violence and dialogue, but I love the social commentary going on within it too, where you have disillusioned Mexican illegal immigrants at one stage going at it against corrupt law enforcers.

I mean, who wouldn't love to see a Mexican beating the shi^ out of people with gardening tools, Lindsay Lohan dressed as a nun taking pot shots at anything that moves or DeNiro as a right wing Senator shooting down illegal aliens as the try to get over the border? It's just madness, and I really loved it.

Predators.

You know, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. True, it's not a patch on the original and borrows heavily from it at times, but there's enough going on to keep you interested and the action is handled very well, with Adrien Brody - who's casting I had originally gasped at - aquitting himself very well in the role, moving into the hard boiled mercenary role with ease. Forget about the rubbish that followed the original; this is it's true sequel. Nothing special but enjoyable enough.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Yep, it's probably Oliver Stone's best film in quite along time - since Any Given Sunday in my eyes- with slick production and generally good performances from all involved, but I still feel that Stone's righteous indignation and capacity to forcefully highlight his own moral outrage on the silver screen has diminished substantially, with the end result being a far more diluted Stone experience than his earlier works.

Maybe he's just getting old and more laid back, but I really expected more bite and vitriolic criticism in this sequel. Still very watchable though and nice to see Douglas back on form... for maybe the last time judging from what he's said recently.

Public Enemies, can't believe it's taken me this long to see it, as usually I'm straight onto any film with Johnny in like a fly on **** but anyway I liked it, wasn't sure if I would but I thought he played the part of Dillinger really well, suave, charming, loyal to his friends, but with a chilling ruthless streak. Not a classic gangster film and I'd have liked a bit more character development in places but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Home Alone - Rewatch, love this film, however I love number 2 and 3 more than 1 myself.

Loved Ones - Creppy Horror, the deranged young girl was a great character, was really rooting for her to kill everyone, I suppsoe you can guess what happened. However very short and half of it was focusing on a girl and boy getting high that brought no real meaning to the film at all.

Slient Night Deadly Night - A deranged orphaned (who witnessed his parents being murdered by santa) dresses up as Santa Claues and goes mad and goes on a killing spree. Enough Said.

Death at a funeral - Rewatch, love this film, dont understad why america remade it for, this orginal version is truelly great.

Easy A.

For the first half an hour or so it reeks of obnoxiousness and bounces off of its own private jokes and 80s film references but with a bit of patience it all ties together in the end with its own message and relevance to today. Some of the characterisation is a bit weak (snooty Christians, whilst essential to the plot, aren't that realistic. And the main character's parents, entertaining whilst they are, are thoroughly unplausible) but it's never meant to be a serious drama: just a great representation of teenagers today (and the best I've seen since Mean Girls). 8/10

Oh sorry Scrooge. I thought you were saying you were bored by it.

The ending seems to have been cleared up by it's author on the web but I can see how others would like to believe the other ending which would've been better.

There is a similar twist in an old Hammer Horror movie. Not as clever as this one but along the same lines. That's why as soon as I seen the trailer I thought who the patient was.

Ahhh right, never looked up the meaning of the ending or anything of the web, thought I'd just leave it to my own imagination kinda thing. And never saw the trailer either, caught it by chance in some little cinema in Wales. Entertained me at the time as I was in some tiny town with a very long name lol

Shutter Island had good acting and brilliant direction but it made itself too clear as a "twist movie" so as soon as you think there's gonna be a huge twist you can guess what it will be. The movie worked as a thriller, so if they just made the story of the missing patient real it would have been much better without the anticlimactic reveal.

Jack Black was acting his stereotypical "funny" self and Kate Winslet always appears to me like a cold hearted bitch. Her best performance was in Titanic in which she was quite "dramatic". The Expendables. I found it massively, massively dissapointing. I was expecting the 20 or whatever strong super action cast, 10 aside, in a jungle, red vs. blue, shooting the **** out of each other for two hours.

But no, they tried to put a heart in it. They show annoying 'look at Stone Cold hurr' shots of Austin's face about one billion times despite the fact that he never gets a line of ****ing dialogue.

The movie is just far too disjointed and globe trotting. Stop trying to ... do ... stuff. Just have men killing other men. For two hours. That's all anybody wanted.

It's honestly just like playing Call Of Duty, without getting to actually play it. Just watching the terrible story play out. South America. Evil militia. You know the drill. Guys with 'Schavez' in their names.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Really enjoyed it, my favorite out of the three released so far. Was faithful to the book and the character of Eustace was funny. The ending was nice but I feel agnostic and athiest might not approve of it (basically Aslan, the lion was saying to the children that he is known by another name in their world - "God")

Also watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire last night too, in my top three HP films, it doesn't cover everything in the book and a lot of good material is not featured but it is a good action film and the tasks and the graveyard scene are done brilliantly. Dumbledore is too different from the first three films in this one though.

And I just put on Altitude, not sure what it's about yet, seems like a horror type thing.

Night of the demons (2009) - Complete crap. Low budget horror with one major plot hole that makes the writers idiots.

The Ghost Writer (The Ghost over there in UK). Another great movie from Polanski!

I watched Pan's Labyrinth again earlier, great films as always.

Rewatched 'Moon' last night - fantastic film, great acting by Sam Rockwell and whilst there're a few obvious similarities with 2001, I'd go as far as to say Moon surpasses it (more cohesive, dramatic and emotional at least).

I watched a bit of Sherlock Holmes last night befor I fell asleep! what I did see was okI suppose; I will watch the rest of it at some point, but I had to try and think that this was some new character I had never heard of before. That isn't at all how I would imagine Sherlock!

Oh I saw Little Fockers just after Xmas, not as good as the first 2 films, but still quite funny.

Wall-E and Run Fat Boy Run on the telly Sunday.

Just finished watching Wild Target, it was a bit of a let down. I thought it'd be funnier and faster paced.

Animal Kingdom

Great Australian crime drama. Possibly the best film out of Australia for a decade.

Watched all of Sherlock Holmes last night.. Was ok actually. Don't usually like Robert Downey Jr but I thought he was excellent in this!

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

One of the worst films I have ever seen. Great effects, story is horrid and boring. I know people will love it but for me - it was a clock watcher.
